- The opening video to Monday Night Raw plays highlighting the stars of the brand which includes World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Christian, Jeff Hardy and WWE Woman’s champion, Trish Stratus. After the video plays, pyro erupts at the top of the stage to show that Monday Night Raw is on the air on Spike TV. The cameras turn to the commentator’s table where Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross welcome everybody to the show, they talk about a huge main event planned for tonight as the
graphic appears on screen showing that tonight it will be Booker T vs. Shawn Michaels to find out who faces Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash.
- The entrance music of Stone Cold Steve Austin hit’s the PA system as the crowd react loudly to the appearance off one of their favourite wrestlers. Once inside the ring, Austin allows the “Austin” chant to die down before beginning to talk about how last night he had the biggest fight of his life against The Rock. He goes on to say that he’ll be the first to say that The Rock was the better man last night and that Austin got his ass whooped. Austin then says that he wants The Rock to appear out here right now and shake Stone Cold’s hand in the middle of the ring. After a few moments of silence, the entrance music of Eric Bischoff hit’s the PA system. The Raw general manager makes his way down to the ring and says that he is sorry to interrupt Steve’s moment out here but he had to come out and say something. Eric says that Austin wants to do more than just shake Rock’s hand tonight, he wants to kick his ass. Austin grins and admits that was the plan but Eric says that isn’t going to happen. He says that he knows Austin is hiding his severe injuries and even spent the night before Wrestlemania in a hospital bed. Austin asks Eric why he is bringing up Stone Cold’s personal stuff on live TV and Eric just continues by saying that Austin has become a liability to the WWE which is why it is his duty to inform Stone Cold Steve Austin that his contract has been terminated as off today. Austin suddenly looked stunned for a moment as Bischoff disappeared from behind the entrance curtain. The crowd has gone silent at this point as Austin simply leaves the ring and makes his way to the back.
1)
Scott Steiner Defeated Christopher Nowinski – The opening match of this edition of Monday Night RAW saw the Genetic Freak Scott Steiner go one on one with Christopher Nowinski. While this wasn’t strictly a squash match Nowinski didn’t get a whole lot of offence in, mostly being overpowered by Steiner, who eventually put Nowinski away with the Steiner Flatliner.
- Scott Steiner celebrates the victory while Christopher Nowinski rolls out of the ring holding his head and makes his way up the ramp angrily. Steiner gets a good reaction from the crowd as he does his usual pose before RAW cuts to commercial.
- RAW returns from commercial to the site of Booker T lacing up his boots ready for his match with Shawn Michaels later tonight when Chris Jericho walks up to him, a smug look on his face. Jericho tells Booker T that he doesn’t deserve a chance to be number one contender, because the only man who deserved the World Heavyweight Championship is Chris Jericho. Booker T asks Jericho if his memory is correct, and that didn’t Jericho lose to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania. Jericho looks angry before storming off, shouting that everybody needs to realize that RAW is Jericho!
2)
Trish Stratus defeated. Ivory - Just after winning the WWE Woman’s Championship at Wrestlemania last night, the new champion was in action against Ivory, one of the toughest woman in wrestling today. The match was pretty short even by woman’s wrestling standards but was nicely put together. In the end, Trish managed to put away Ivory after connecting with the spring board Bulldog that she calls The Stratusfaction. After the bell, Jazz quickly slid in to the ring and attacked the WWE Woman’s Champion. Jazz, clearly the stronger woman over powered Trish for at least a minute before trapping her in the air with the Double Underhook Chicken Wing. Several referees quickly ran out to separate Jazz from the champion so she can’t cause anymore damage.
RAW cuts backstage where Maven is standing by with Terri Runnels. Terri is about to ask Maven a question when out of nowhere The Hurricane jumps in front of them. The Hurricane looks at both of them and says “Holy filler segment” before ‘flying’ away. Maven looks pissed off, simply says “I’m gonna find out who’s underneath that damn mask.” And storms off, leaving Terri looking pretty confused.
3)
Rob Van Dam Defeated Christian – Two of RAW’s best midcard talents faced off here and although there wasn’t anything official on the line it was obvious that these two were fighting to move up the card and get close to the World Heavyweight Championship. The match was excellent, with a lot of fast paced back and forth wrestling that could have gone either way. Both men got in their fare share of offence and there were a lot of near falls throughout. The ending stretch saw Christian attempt the Unprettier only for Rob Van Dam to push him into the turnbuckle and connected with a big roundhouse kick that sent Christian to the mat. Rob Van Dam followed this up by ascending the top rope and connecting with the Five Star Frogsplash for the pinfall victory.
- Following the match Rob Van Dam begins to celebrate his win while Christian slowly gets to his feet. Christian has a look of anger in his eyes and suddenly he attacks Rob Van Dam from behind, throwing him out of the ring and throwing him head first into the steel steps. Christian follows this up by connecting with the Unprettier on Van Dam on the outside. Christian walks backstage grinning while Van Dam is checked on by medical personnel.
- The cameras turn to the back where Shawn Michaels is seen to be preparing for his match tonight against the Five Time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T. Suddenly, Triple H and Ric Flair appear in front of Shawn and Triple H grins telling Shawn that they’ve had some epic battles over the last year and he hopes Shawn wins tonight so he can finally put him away at Backlash. Triple H then walks off as Flair woo’s right in HBK’s face before walking off.
4)
Lance Storm & Chief Morley defeated. Two locals in a tables match - The two local wrestlers didn’t get in any offence at all and after Morley planted one of them with the Money Shot, Lance Storm got on the microphone and said that just to prove that they are the best tag team in wrestling today, they are making this match a tables match, I guess because they are friendly with General Manager, Eric Bischoff they can do this. Venis left the ring and got a table which when it was set up in the ring, both locals were placed on the table by Lance as Morley climbed the top rope for a second time, putting both men through the table with another Money Shot. The match was ended and the World Tag Team champions were crowned the winners of the match.
- Suddenly, the crowd popped as Bubba Ray Dudley and his brother, D-Von ran down to the ring. The World Tag Team champions quickly retreated from the ring as Bubba Ray Dudley got on the microphone and called the champs some “Stupid bastards” to try and call themselves the best tag team and use tables to prove their point. Bubba goes on to challenge the champions to a tag team tables match at Backlash for the tag team titles. Storm gets given a microphone and says that will never happen.
5)
Jeff Hardy Defeated Test – Originally this match looked like it was going to be very one sided, with Test getting in most of the offense in during the opening minutes of the match, only for Jeff to have a sudden burst and tackle Test to the ground, unloading with a frenzy of punches. Test rolled outside, trying to catch his breath but Jeff followed by flying over the top rope and crashing into Test. From there Jeff was in firm control until Test connected with a massive Big Boot out of nowhere, and he once again took control of the match. It was like this throughout the match, with control switching between the two stars in a true power vs. speed encounter, until Test went for a running big boot only for Jeff to avoid the boot and land a kick to the gut, followed by the Twist of Fate. Jeff made the pinfall attempt and got the three count for the win.
- Following the match Jeff Hardy begins celebrating the victory, including exiting the ring and giving high fives to those in the front row of the crowd. RAW then cuts backstage.
- The cameras turn to the back where Eric Bischoff is seen on the phone, It is made noted that Eric is talking to Vince McMahon and that they are talking about a big edition of Monday Night Raw coming up in the near future. Once he hangs up the phone after thanking his boss, Eric Bischoff grins.
Main event)
Booker T vs. Shawn Michaels went to a no contest through interference - This was a fantastic match that was given a lot of time thanks to the short diva’s match and the squash match involving the world tag team champions earlier on. Both men shared momentum through out and a neat moment happened with Booker T ducked under a Sweet Chin Music attempt and quickly followed up with a jumping calf kick, knocking Michaels down to the canvas. Booker hooked the leg but only got the two count. As the match continued, it came to an end as Shawn Michaels was tuning up the band for Sweet Chin Music. Suddenly, Chris Jericho ran down to ringside as Shawn connected with the super kick. Michaels hooked the leg but just as the referee was going to count the three he was pulled out of the ring by Jericho. The referee argued with Chris Jericho as Shawn stood up and used the ropes as momentum, diving over them looking to take out Jericho. Jericho grabbed the referee and held him till Shawn crashed on top of him leading the match being called off by several other referees as they checked on this one. Jericho quickly slid in to the ring as Shawn checked on the referee he just killed and he locked in the Walls of Jericho on the former WCW champ. Shawn slid in to the ring to which Jericho releases the hold and retreats from the ring. Jericho grins knowing he just caused this match to end with no number one contender to the World Championship.
- The same video package that kicked off the show plays highlighting last nights wrestlemania allowing the referees and wrestlers from the previous match to disapear.
- “It’s Conquered” hits as the Rock makes his way to the ring for his official celebration ceremony. The Rock grabs a microphone and talks about how last night at WrestleMania XIX he finally vanquished his biggest foe in the form of Stone Cold Steve Austin, and proved to every single idiot that he is the greatest wrestler in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. The Rock went on to say that he has now beaten every single person worth beating in WWE, and so he can finally stop having to perform in front of untrained monkeys, which got a massive amount of heel heat. At that moment some familiar to some music played and RAW cut backstage to the shocking site of Bill Goldberg entering the arena and heading for the ring. Goldberg entered on the stage to a huge pop, eventually heading down to the ring. The Rock starts bad talking Goldberg, telling him that a bald headed loser like him doesn’t have the right to be in his ring. Goldberg doesn’t say anything, but suddenly charges at The Rock, delivering a thunderous spear that left the Rock out cold. Goldberg picks up the microphone and waits a moment as the crowd go crazy, before simply saying “Guess what Rock... Your Next!” which gets an even bigger reaction. Goldberg poses in the ring, standing over the unconscious body of the Rock as Monday Night RAW comes to an end.
