I seem to be having terrible luck as of late with all of my computers. I had an Acer Aspire in which the soder on the motherboard for the charge port ended up breaking so I'd have to pay a bunch of money to get the mother board replaced or have it resodered. Then my HP PC I've had since 1999 ended up kicking the bucket, the video card fried itself, but that's alright considering that computer was HIGHLY outdated anyhow. So I decided to buy an eMac off of ebay for a hundred bucks, which lasted about 2 weeks or so, but now the thing is dead also.
Mind you, it's not because of anything I'm doing I've just had incredibly bad luck. I'm usually incredibly tech savy, but I'd rather not put in the money to repair these things. So I'm thinking about investing my money in another laptop. I'm not sure I want another Acer Aspire unless it's really good.
I'm looking for something light weight and possibly thing and that looks sleek. Of course, I'd sacrifice looks for better power obviously. Something powerful that can run Windows Vista is what I'd perfer, 3.0 Gigs of RAM minimum and at least a 100 gb hard drive (The bigger the better obviously)
So anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to avoid Dell but if that's all there is I'll go with it. I'd also like to avoid Apple products, as asside from my iPod and Garage Band I'm incredibly sick of all of their products.

You are not going to find a good laptop for under $300.

You get what you pay for, and $300 isn't going to get you a damn thing.

$300 can get you a decent used laptop. I purchased used laptop off ebay for $250. It's big and clunky, but it does work. I would hardly consider a $300 computer an investment though.

You'll be lucky to get a decent Netbook for under 300 bucks.

I'd wait until Black Friday to be honest. You can probably scoop one up for dirt cheap, just wait it out. In fact, I'm doing just that.

I got my HP Mini with a 10 inch screen for 350. Fantastic little laptop that's doing me just fine until I can afford the computer I really want.

New? Nothing.
Used? It's a whole new world. Check eBay or Craigslist.

Black Friday is so ironically juxtaposed with thanksgiving.
