Cutting Ties: Players to get rid of
Written by Nick Caron, NFLFantasySpot.com
MUST CUT TIES WITH:
RB Le’Ron McClain, BAL (owned in 67.9% of leagues)
Le’Ron McClain has a total of 12 carries through four games, including a zero-touch performance in week four. As I said in the pre-season, he is not going to be the touchdown scorer in this offense.
RB Earnest Graham (owned in 16.8% of leagues)
Derrick Ward missed week four due to injury and Earnest Graham still only touched the ball seven times. Unless both Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams are out, Graham has zero fantasy value.
WR Laveranues Coles, CIN (owned in 74.2% of leagues)
Carson Palmer seems to be getting back into stride, but it seems unlikely that Laveranues Coles is going to be getting enough looks to warrant being a fantasy option.
WR Antwaan Randle El, WAS (owned in 12.5% of leagues)
The cakewalk part of the Redskins’ schedule will be coming to an end soon and Randle El hasn’t been particularly productive during it anyway.
WR Brandon Stokley, DEN (owned in 11.8% of leagues)
Stokley is, at best, the third best option on a team that isn’t an offensive powerhouse.
WR Chris Chambers, SD (owned in 39.2% of leagues)
Chambers caught his first touchdown pass of the season against the Steelers in week 4, but has just six total catches and less than 100 yards on the year.
WR Isaac Bruce, SF (owned in 11.3% of leagues)
Isaac Bruce is yet to crack 80 yards or catch a touchdown pass this season. The 49ers remain a run-first offense even with Frank Gore on the sidelines and Bruce is, at best, the third option in the passing game.
STRONGLY CONSIDER CUTTING TIES WITH:
RB LenDale White, TEN (owned in 88.9% of leagues)
The Titans have been offensively inept this season and LenDale White hasn’t cracked 30 yards rushing yet this season. White’s only value is at the goal line, and he has still only scored one touchdown through four games.
RB Jamal Lewis, CLE (owned in 83.2% of leagues)
The Browns can’t move the ball and Jerome Harrison has been more productive than Jamal Lewis when he has been given the chance. Harrison might not be the starter when Lewis returns, but he will likely cut into his touches in an already pathetic offensive system.
RB Mike Bell, NO (owned in 47.3% of leagues)
With Pierre Thomas back, the Saints really have no use for Mike Bell. Unless Thomas and/or Reggie Bush get injured, Bell will not be getting enough carries to be a fantasy option.
WR Eddie Royal, DEN (owned in 79.4% of leagues)
I don’t think there has been a player this season who has been more of a disappointment than Eddie Royal. McDaniels ranted about how he was going to use Royal in a “Wes Welker-like” way in his offense – meanwhile, Royal has 8 receptions in four games.
WR Ted Ginn Jr., MIA (owned in 74.4% of leagues)
After a monstrous week two in which he caught eleven passes for 108 yards against the Colts, Ted Ginn Jr. has just one catch in the past two weeks combined. Word is that his playing time has decreased due to, “inconsistent play.” With Chad Pennington out, Ginn has to catch passes from a new quarterback while playing less – doesn’t seem likely.
WR Donnie Avery, STL (owned in 59.6% of leagues)
The Rams have scored just 24 points in the first four games combined and Steven Jackson is the only offensive player on their roster worth owning in fantasy football.
