He rarely got any mic time. So the disappearance of the Jamiacan accent is fine by me.

If they were smart, they would have just billed him from America, with Jamaican heritage. That way he gets to have the American accent and not look like a fraud. Kind of like Eddie Guerrero, he wasnt from Mexico, but it was his heritage, and all of that. Why bill him from America when he is actually from Ghana? Because in Vince's world, foreigner = heel 99% of the time.

He's a great athlete- and I feel that dropping the silly accent was a step toward giving his character more credibility. Maybe now he won't rot in eternal midcard purgatory a'la Shelton Benjamin. I mean, imagine him being in a blood feud, or about to be in a main event caliber match- cutting a promo for five minutes with that goofy fake Jamaican schtick. The difference between Kofi and Shelton is people care about Kofi. I think the loss of the accent is gonna hurt him. B/c effectively he has become Shelton. Kofi's accent was his uniqueness. People liked that. Now he looks like a fraud, especially considering HHH outed him over it. They would have been better just fazing it out then having HHH make a fool out of him. Well I for one care very deeply about Shelton. Regardless of his peroxide issues that is one fine looking sunnofabitch. He also is really talented and I wish they'd do something with him. Kofi...well...I have been lol'ing about his accent since I first heard it. I live next to real Jamaicans, from Jamaica...so yeah, his accent was like some random dude trying to sound Jamaican. I don't at all agree with Triple H making him look like an ass though. It's so stale with what he says.

Why bill him from America when he is actually from Ghana? Because in Vince's world, foreigner = heel 99% of the time. Which makes sense, but um Kofi only lived in Ghana from like birth to 1 year old. He has no recollection of being Ghanese....he's very assimilated into American culture. They should really book him from America. Vince loves him a good stereotype.

I bet whoever disses Triple h about his past gimmicks would be buried and released in a heart beat.

I bet whoever disses Triple h about his past gimmicks would be buried and released in a heart beat. But how do you know WWE management didn't tell Triple H to say it. The whole thing was done in a humorous way. WWE is obviously trying to phase out Kofi's Jamaican gimmick, so instead of pretending that it never happened...they poked fun at it. If Shawn had said it nobody on here would care.

This is one step towards main event status for Kofi. You can't be a overly happy, one-dimensional Jamaican stereotype and expect to be taken seriously. The audience needs to relate to a main eventer on a deeper level than the gimmick he portrays. I think it's rediculous to say he'll end up like Shelton. Shelton is the rare individual that has all the in-ring skill but just isn't interesting from a character standpoint. Kofi is a lot more comfortable on the mic and has a marketable look. He's very capable of becoming a big deal.

I bet whoever disses Triple h about his past gimmicks would be buried and released in a heart beat. His original blue blood gimmick was the best...I liked the snobbish attitude...this I'm over 40 and still kewl is lame...I think my stepdad and dad have all went through the same thing and my mom called it a midlife crisis

Yeah, nobody would care because Shawn is not the heir to McMahon's throne. So we should bash everything he does because of his family ties? I mean Triple H & Shawn even poked fun at Hunter for being married to Stephanie in the same promo. It was meant to be funny. People need to lighten up a little.

im glad he dropped the jamaican gimmick ....i think he wil be able to blossom much more. Even when it comes to attire i think he should keep the same attire but get different colors like blue and red.

Honestly, I thought he delivered a pretty believable promo without the accent. The problem is being outed for it with little or no serious explanation.

I was really shocked when he spoke without any accent. I don't know what this will change because he still will most likely rarely speak but whatever.
