So, why all of a sudden the change??
Dropped Jamaica, and now the accent. I think he should just drop Jamaica all together and be him self. What do you guys think of him now on Raw, and where do you see him going?

He's a great athlete- and I feel that dropping the silly accent was a step toward giving his character more credibility. Maybe now he won't rot in eternal midcard purgatory a'la Shelton Benjamin.
I mean, imagine him being in a blood feud, or about to be in a main event caliber match- cutting a promo for five minutes with that goofy fake Jamaican schtick.

The difference between Kofi and Shelton is people care about Kofi. I think the loss of the accent is gonna hurt him. B/c effectively he has become Shelton. Kofi's accent was his uniqueness. People liked that. Now he looks like a fraud, especially considering HHH outed him over it. They would have been better just fazing it out then having HHH make a fool out of him.

Well they bill him from West Ghana Africa which is where he was born and I don't think it was his accent that got him over it was his in ring abilities and taunts. If anything it's a step forward because if he used his accent in bigger title pictures he would look less intimidating and now this also can give him a chance for a heel turn if management feels they should and wouldn't have to put too much work into it because they dropped the Jamaican accent and bill him from somewhere that isn't as popular as Jamaica

I agree, it was a douche move on the part of HHH. More or less, I think WWE is just trying to poke fun at itself and its own plotholes as of late through DX. But that breaking of Kayfabe is hurting the product in the long run. Kofi still isn't effectively Shelton, because even without the accent he still has more energy and enthusiasm in his voice when he speaks. He still has his eyepopping repertoire of moves, and his *boom boom boom* claps that get the crowd into his gimmick. He's still got a unique look with the dreads, and all around should have a nice career. I just never really see him reaching WHC or WWE title contention- sadly and truthfully because of his size. Shelton is more built, but I guess he's never 'put it all together' to get a huge push...mainly cause of his lack of charisma.

It's not like he ever got much mic time, from what I've seen. I don't think dropping the accent will have much of an effect on him at all.

I'm guessing that they want him to develop more o the mic. And it was going to be harder to do that with the fake accent.
I do hope this means better things coming for him. And no, losing the accent won't hurt him. He never talked enough for it to really matter.

Vince wanted him to get over more easily with the fans. Now that he's over, I guess they want to see if he's he real deal w/o the need of a gimmick. I'm hoping for the best, but too early to tell if he'll hit Shelton status (midcard/forgotten) or Booker T status (hold the world title at some point).

If they were smart, they would have just billed him from America, with Jamaican heritage. That way he gets to have the American accent and not look like a fraud. Kind of like Eddie Guerrero, he wasnt from Mexico, but it was his heritage, and all of that.

Chris Jericho is actually from New York, yet is billed from Canada because he grew up and spent a majority of his early life there. Kingston has obviously spent most of his life in America, so maybe he considers that his true home? Who knows.

I have no idea what kind of if any accent people have in Ghana, but i wouldnt think it to be American.

A strange little bit of information, My mom is trying to adopt from two children from Ghana after doing some care work out there, whenever i hear them on the phone, i think they are American... mabye i'm ignorant, but the accent in atleast some areas sounds kinda of american. English is the 1st language over there

I don't know, it's funny how because his tracksuit had Jamaica or something on it, and now he comes to the ring without it. I just wish they would explain it, that's all. Yeah though, he most likely requested it and if he was in a serious feud, talking with a fake accent wouldn't exactly do him any favors.

I like how you both assume Kofi & the WWE didn't know Triple H was going to say that. The WWE probably thought that if it was laughed off the fans wouldn't make much of an issue over it.

I don't like listening to Kofi without his accent.
