i do not want jenrry mejia to make the team. he should be sent down to double a. give him time, 2011 is the year for him and others. of course jerry manuel is a complete intellectually- disabled person and minaya is just about to fall in to this trap and they're gonna get him up into the bigs
on topic, John Sterling is the best.

If Mejia is used as a reliever, is that a bad thing? He is going to be eased into the majors in that role anyways

Jenrry Mejia should be left alone as a starter. It's Jeurys Familia that should be groomed as their set-up man and the guy that takes over closing duties. There's no need to have Mejia in the majors this year. I'd rather give Eric Beaulac the set-up role.
The Mets have a few interesting spects with Mejia, Familia, Kyle Allen, Eric Beaulac, Juan Urbina. I'd hate to see them rush one and completely ruin any of their chances in the future.

Joe Girardi is a moron.
Andy Pettitte was supposed to start the game today and he was scratched because "it MIGHT rain" and he always has some kind of back problem in Spring Training and they didn't want to risk hurting him. So they started Damaso Marte instead.
It didn't rain for the first 3 innings and mound was dry....so in the top of the 4th inning when it started POURING.....Joe Girardi BRINGS IN ANDY PETTITTE to pitch on a now WET MOUND!
Unbelievable. If he gets hurt it'll be all Girardi's fault. Just let him throw inside or something and get his work in. It's not worth it to risk hurting him.

You and Michael Kay are acting like Andy Pettitte has never pitched in the rain. He pitched a 1-2-3 inning, all is well. Pettitte is fine. Jesus, Lorenzo, quit bitching for one ing moment in your life.

Dude relax, I know he's pitched in the rain before, but it just makes no sense to NOT start him when it's not raining because it MIGHT rain and then decide to bring him in when it's actually raining!

If Spring Training is ANY indication of ANYTHING, Ricky Nolasco is primed to hurt National League batters this year.

If Spring Training is ANY indication of ANYTHING, Ricky Nolasco is primed to hurt National League batters this year. I agree. I think the Marlins have a chance to make the playoffs and challenge the Phillies in the NL East. On another note, dos anyone think the Phillies will actually be able to resign Werth or is he as good as gone? Also, I am hoping to make it out to the Harrisburg Senators to see Strasburg pitch. Any idea how many starts he might have for Harrisburg before moving up?

I'm hoping they can at least offer him a somewhat respectable contract in the offseason and allow him to accept it and turn it down at his discretion. I'd hate to see the front office just assume he wants too much money and not even attempt to resign him My ideal situation for 2011 would be Domonic Brown in LF, Victorino in CF and Werth in RF, especially seeing that Raul's contract is up at the end of this year. EDT: Ok, forgot Ibanez signed a three year deal, thought it was two.

I heard Reggie Jackson "unofficially" met with Werth and his family already has ties to Jackson. With all the big money deals like Howard, Utley and Halladay, I cant see the Phills breaking the bank open for Werth. Not to mention they have Brown as well and he is a much cheaper and younger option. If Werth has another 30 homer and 90RBI year.....I think he is as good as gone. Yankees are probably an ideal situation for him. Weth in that lineup? Sick. If only he was a latino, the Mets might try and sign him.

Well, they're definitely gonna have added revenue to spend by the end of the year and with them not having to pay out a contract for Moyer since Moyer's contract is up and possibly Raul(rumors are going around that they may get rid of him after this year), that will leave them with more money for Werth. It'll all depend on the asking price and I think because of the Jayson Bay deal and another productive year, that asking price is going to be extremely steep. woops sorry yankee fans and philly fans Saw that this morning. First they put Howard on the cover before the World Series and now they do this? It's almost like they're out to get us, LOL. Here's hoping we can break the Sports Illustrated Curse this year!
