The shot comes to an arena, the WCWA stage set up as if it’s for a Synthetic or revolution taping, sans one piece on the set that has a giant piece of an eighty with an S in vibrant colors. The video screen has the Blast from the Past logo flashing on it instead of the Synthetic or Revolution logo. “Can I Play With Madness” by Iron Maiden blares over the P/A system as a series of impressive pyrotechnics explode on the stage. WCWA play by play man Ben Jordan welcomes the audience to the show.
BJ: Professional wrestling fans, this is it. Welcome to WCWA!
More pyros explode on the stage, the song cutting off. The shot cuts to the announce table, where Shane Douglas, Ben Jordan, and Larry Sweeney sit packed to three tight to the two man booth.
BJ: Here we are, Blast from the Past, I am your host, Ben Jordan, alongside..
SD: Alongside the man that revolutionized the SPORT known as professional wrestling, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas
LS: And the host with the most, welcoming you to the Sweet N Sour Power Hour, “Sweet N Sour” Larry Sweeney.
BJ: Gentlemen, we’re here.. Eddie Kingston and Chris Hero, for the WCWA World Heavyweight title.
LS: In the history of World Championship Wrestling Alliance, I cannot think of two men with such a blood feud as these two men. Three ways, sixteen person elimination tags, one on one, tag matches.. I don’t think this feud will end tonight, no doubt about it, but tonight could be a pivotal chapter in the story and the feud of Hero and Kingston.
SD: These two men aren’t in a pro wrestling feud. They aren’t in a “oh, you smashed my car and stole my girlfriend, so I don’t like you” feud. This goes YEARS back, way before WCWA.. These two legitimately do not like each other. They don’t want the other to exist. In wrestling or on earth.
BJ: Without further ado, let’s get this under way. Take it away, Gary Michael Cappetta!
Cut to the ring, where Gary Michael Cappetta stands center ring,
GMC: The following match is scheduled for one fall, with a TV time limit. It is for the WCWA World Heavyweight championship!
“Diamonds from Serra Leone” by Jay Z feat. Kayne West hits over the P/A system and Eddie Kingston makes his way out onto the stage, alone. He has black battle paint applied under his eyes, football player style.
GMC: First, the challenger, from the Home of the Brave, Yonkers, New York, weighing in tonight at two hundred and forty eight pounds.. He is the “Last of a Dying Breed” Eddie KINGSTON!
Kingston makes his way to the ring, a determined look on his face, not even paying attention to the ringside fans who extend their hands to the King of Diamonds for a high five. Kingston climbs up to the apron then drags his fingers across his face, applying a smear of war paint from one cheek all the way across his face.
BJ: Kingston is determined tonight. With the WCWA Dark Desires Pay Per View lingering, Kingston has the chance to modify the timeline, instead of coming into the three way with Hero and Jack Evans as a challenger, he could come in as champion.
LS: Yeah but Ben, in that three way, being the champion really doesn’t make a whole lot of difference, because he could still lose the title without being involved in the pin. Sure, Kingston would love to put a cork in the mouth of Chris Hero, but I don’t know how much of a difference it will make in WCWA, long term.
Kingston goes to the corner, kneeling down as his entrance music cuts off. The camera pans up the isle way, the lights coming to a dim. “Holding Out For A Hero” by Bonnie Tyler hits over the P/A system. As the chorus of the song hits, Chris Hero makes his way through the curtain, the WCWA World Heavyweight title strapped firmly around his waist.
GMC: And his opponent, from Metropolis and representing the Kings of Professional Wrestling, weighing in tonight at two hundred and thirty pounds, he is the reigning and defending WCWA World Heavyweight champion, “Your Hero” Chris HERO!
Hero makes his way to the ring with a smug look on his face. Hero slides up to the ring apron and into the ring. Eddie Kingston bum rushes him, but senior official Jason Verdoes gets between the two. Hero whips the WCWA World Heavyweight title from his waist and holds it up, taunting Kingston with it.
BJ: That’s what it’s all about, that ten pounds of gold.
LS: The gold that has driven Eddie Kingston to the brink of insanity. It’s taken my friend Eddie and driven him absolutely berserk, to the point I try not to even talk to the King. It’s turned him against his friends in the BLK Out. Notice, Chris Hero got introduced as representing the Kings of Wrestling.. Kingston didn’t represent the BLK Out. Because right now, King is just representing himself in everything he does, and he has no allies.
Referee Jason Verdoes recovers the championship from Chris Hero and holds it high above his head, the flash bulbs flashing in the crowd as everyone tries to get a picture of the glimmering championship belt. Verdoes hands the championship belt out to a ringside attendant then calls for the bell. The bell sounds and this World Heavyweight title match begins.
SD: This is it. This is what our industry is all about. The big stage, for the World Heavyweight title.
Opening bell and this match is officially under way. The two begin to circle around, Hero calling for a test of strength but Eddie Kingston slaps his hand away. Hero bump rushes Kingston but Kingston takes him to the mat with a drop toe hold, a float over, and Kingston begins to rain down elbow strikes on Chris Hero. Hero is desperately trying to cover his head as Kingston showers him in blunt elbow strikes to the back of his head.
SD: Hero’s in a bad way here. He’s gotta get from out underneath the King or this could be one of the shortest WCWA World Heavyweight title matches in history.
BJ: I think that’d make the network execs happy. They wanted WWE, they get WCWA!
LS: I heard John Cena was filming a movie anyways.
Kingston is really nailing Hero with vicious elbows to the back of his head. Hero does a push up, pushing himself up and pushing Kingston up as well. Hero is able to roll his hips and flip Eddie Kingston off of him. Hero back to his feet. Kingston comes running in for a roaring elbow attempt, but Hero blocks it with a double forearm. Hero with a kick to the mid section and HE goes for a roaring elbow, but Kingston is able to duck it. Kingston spins around and nails Chris Hero with his signature Back Fist to the Future!
BJ: BACK FIST TO THE FUTURE!
SD: I’ve seen lesser men go down and out from that move, but it didn’t even knock Hero off his feet!
LS: Chris Hero is not like most men. You may not like his attitude, but you’ve got to respect his talent, gentlemen.
Hero screams, pumping his fists for momentum as he tries to shrug off the dangerous Back Fist. Kingston into the near ropes. He comes running at Chris Hero. He lifts his leg up and he’s going for a Yakuza kick, but Chris Hero side steps, going behind Kingston and hooking the mid section. Kingston is stopped in his steps. Hero with a dead lift, pulling Eddie Kingston up and over and dropping him RIGHT ON HIS HEAD with a Saito Suplex!
LS: AHHHHHHHH! Saito Suplex!!
SD: That could be it.. Eddie Kingston just got dropped RIGHT on his head and neck with that dangerous suplex!
Chris Hero goes for a pin fall attempt, referee Jason Verdoes slides into position, count of one and EDDIE KINGSTON KICKS OUT! The crowd goes berserk for Kingston’s defiance, unwilling to even take a two count. Chris Hero pulls at his hair slightly in frustration, almost not even believing himself that Kingston kicked out at one. Kingston’s up to his feet before Hero.
BJ: Eddie Kingston won’t let Chris Hero pin him as long as he’s breathing, and there is not a single chance he will EVER submit!
LS: Yeah, but the mental game, Ben. Hero’s beat Kingston in the three way.. He beat him in the finals of Torneo Cibernetico..
SD: Yeah, but Kingston wrestled for a LOT of the hundred plus minute Torneo Cibernetico, while Chris Hero took it as easy as he could. King’s cardio also isn’t near as good as Hero, so you have to take that into consideration.
Kingston in the ropes. Chris Hero comes running at him, but Kingston gets under Hero, lifting him up and dumping him up and over the top rope. Hero hits the ring apron hard as he stumbles to the black padded mats on the outside. Kingston is quick through the middle rope, going to the outside after Hero. Hero is back up, clipping the ankle of Kingston. Kingston slips and falls hard on the hard unpadded ring apron.
SD: We’ve covered this before, but that ring apron is solid wood and metal. The little padding that the ring does have only stretches to the ropes or just before. That ring apron is incredibly unforgiving.
LS: Hard as hell. Hard as hell..
Hero comes after Kingston, driving his elbow right in the throat of Kingston. Kingston gasps and heaves, rolling back into the ring under the bottom rope. Hero grabs him by the arm and leg, dragging him back to the ring apron and smacking him right in the short ribs. Kingston lowers his hands to his ribs, and Hero locks another choke hold on. Referee Jason Verdoes starts a standing five count, but it’s broken by Hero at four.
BJ: Chris Hero seemingly getting a little frustrated, going to the chokehold here.
LS: I don’t understand why Hero broke it, myself. He’s the champion. If he would have got DQ’d, he would still be the champion.
SD: It’s a matter of pride. Sure, the title can’t change hands on a disqualification, but Chris Hero wants the win over Eddie Kingston.
Hero is back on the attack. Kingston rolls to the outside and Hero grabs him. He’s going for a back drop driver on the outside, but Kingston’s blocking it, holding on to the guardrail. Kingston with a standing switch on Hero, but he takes Hero right down forward instead of up and backwards, right face first into the guardrail.
BJ: Front Russian Leg Sweep, in some circles called The Stroke.
SD: You see anyone with a break away guitar out here?
BJ: No..
SD: Then it’s not The Stroke!
LS: Amen brother! Balsawood weapons are laughable!
Kingston slides into the ring then right back out, breaking the count. Kingston pulls up the protective mat on the outside, exposing the cold hard concrete. Kingston lifts Chris Hero up. He’s going for a Back Drop Driver on the concrete! Hero is able to elbow out of it. He takes a few steps back and comes rushing at Kingston. Kingston gets up underneath Hero and back body drops him right on the concrete.
LS: No folks, that wasn’t hamburger dropping, that was human flesh on concrete!
BJ: A sickening thud as Chris Hero lands on the unforgiving concrete floor.
Eddie Kingston scoops the injured Hero up, rolling him into the ring under the bottom rope. Kingston into the ring himself, going for a cover. 1.….2.… Hero gets his foot on the bottom rope to break the count.
BJ: Near fall from Eddie Kingston.
LS: I don’t know if Hero had it in him to kick out. If Kingston would have known his ring positioning a little bit better, he may be the World Heavyweight champion right now.
Eddie Kingston back to his feet. He climbs the middle rope then jumps off, jumping down hard on Hero’s ankle that’s across the bottom rope. Hero rolls away in agony, rolling to his feet. Eddie Kingston ducks down, then runs in, nearly decapitating Chris Hero with a hellacious Yakuza kick, Hero whipping inside out before landing flat on his face.
SD: JA KOOZAH KICK!
LS: The running big boot from Kingston and Hero is OUT!
Kingston back to his feet, he pulls his straps on his singlet down, almost salivating as he waits for Chris Hero to get back to his feet. Hero is finally back up, dazed and confused. Kingston with a left slap, a right slap, and he spins. He’s going for the Back Fist to the Future, but Hero gets a double forearm up to block it. Kingston is unphased, because he spins back around and nails Hero with the other arm!! Hero is knocked STUPID!
LS: HOLY HELL THAT WAS STIFF!
BJ: Kingston caught ALL of that Back Fist..
SD: He didn’t just hit him with the palm either like he usually does.. That was more palm over the ear, and wrist bone to the cheek. If you’ve ever been hit in the ear, you know how much it throws off your equilibrium, not even figuring in the slap itself.
Hero out on his feet. He’s trying not to go down. Kingston grabs him, lifting him off his feet and dropping him RIGHT ON HIS HEAD with a deadly Back Drop Driver! Crowd goes nuts.
LS: PIN HIM KING! PIN THAT MAN RIGHT NOW AND YOU WILL BE THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!
Kingston, not satisfied, pulls Chris Hero up by his hair. Kingston hooks Hero from behind again, lifting him high in the air and dropping him right on his head and neck a SECOND time with another Back Drop Driver!! Hero is limp! Kingston, not going for the cover, instead rolls Hero over to his stomach.
SD: What in the blue hell? COVER HIM YOU IDIOT! HE’S OUT!
BJ: I’m not sure what Eddie Kingston is doing here, but it could cost him the WCWA World Heavyweight championship!
Kingston laces his legs in the legs of Chris Hero locking in a modified half crab, then lays back, trapping Hero’s obviously injured head and neck in a Cravate.
SD: HE’S GOT HIM TRAPPED IN THE HANGMAN’S CLUTCH! HERO’S OWN MOVE!
LS: And with the damage those two Back Drop Drivers did, I doubt Hero can hold on to it!
BJ: He’s in the center of the ring!!
Kingston is pulling hard at the Cravate, trying to possibly snap Chris Hero’s neck over actually just going for the submission. Hero isn’t responding, Referee Jason Verdoes raises the hand once, it falls to the mat limp. A second time.. And Hero’s hand hits the mat. A third time Verdoes raises the hand, the crowd is buzzing, sensing the best.. And HERO’S HAND HITS THE MAT! Verdoes calls for the bell and tells Kingston to break the hold.
BJ: WE HAVE A NEW WCWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! EDDIE KINGSTON HAS DONE THE IMPOSSIBLE! HE HAS BEATEN THE CURSE! EDDIE KINGSTON HAS BEATEN CHRIS HERO! FINALLY, A FOUR YEAR JOURNEY FOR EDDIE KINGSTON COMES TRUE! THE YEARS OF TORMENT! THE AGONY, THE MISERY! TONIGHT, EDDIE KINGSTON IS CHAMPION!!!!
Kingston is reluctant to break the hold, Verdoes starting a standing five count, 1.…2.….3.…..4.….. Finally Kingston breaks the hold, getting back to his feet and spitting on Chris Hero. Jason Verdoes recovers the championship belt from ringside and hands it to Kingston. Kingston looks at it for a moment, then realizes it’s his, dropping to the mat clutching the title.
SD: The years of sacrifice and dedication.. It all pays off for Eddie Kingston here tonight..
Kingston gets back to his feet, “Diamonds from Serra Leone” hitting over the P/A system. Kingston raises the title high above his head.
BJ: I’m not sure what to say, so I’m going to let the moment speak for itself. Remember, check out WCWA. Synthetic on HBO on Tuesdays, Revolution on Versus on Fridays.. For Sweet N Sour Larry Sweeney and The Franchise Shane Douglas.. I’m Ben Jordan.. And we have a new World Heavyweight champion!!
Eddie Kingston raises the title high above his head in celebration, Chuck Taylor and Drake Younger making their way down the ramp to recover their defeated leader. Kingston challenges them both to enter the ring, but neither want to, simply getting Hero out of the ring and helping him to the back. As Kingston celebrates in the ring, we fade away, the WCWA portion of the show coming to a dramatic close, a WCWA logo flashing on the screen as we fade to black.
