I realise it's just the thought of it, but travelling by plane is much safer than by car. i hate when people say this its such an assinine comment compared how many cars are on the road compared to planes in the air? obviously car crashes are more common now compare the ratio of people who die in plane crashes compared to the ratio of people who die in car crashes odds are if your in a car crash theres a very good chance you will not have deadly injuries unless its a very bad crash however if you go down in a plane your odds of dieing are pretty damn good sorry it just makes me very afraid to fly

Nope. I am not afraid of that.
I have only flown to Washington D.C on a big plane but I have been on a smaller plane as well. It was fun because it was a new experience. I hope to go somewhere else because traveling is cool.

Yes, many cars means its obviously more dangerous, and yes theres more chance of dying from a plane crash. But, having said that, the ratio of accidents between the two are very different. You are 12x more likely to get hurt badly in a car than a plane. Comparing the ratios of injury in the situations is pointless, because it's irrelevent. It's fact that many more people die in a car crash than a plane crash each year, so I am not scared of planes at all.

It's fact that many more people die in a car crash than a plane crash each year, so I am not scared of planes at all. I think the point is that your chances of dieing in a plane IF it crashes are higher than in a car IF it crashes. If i get T boned by a car I might survive. If i get Tboned by another 747 plane, Im pretty much done with living my life here on this earth. Those ar ethe glaring statistics that fuel the underlying fears. So while plane crashes might happen less often, its the percentage of death that outweighs the cars. If a car going 50 mph slides on the road and goes sideways into a wall on the passenger side( the side I'm not sitting on), I might survive. Same scenario with a plane? not likely PErsonally, I have/can fly but i dont like to. Im afraid of heights and dont like being out of control. that siad, I dont mind 1-4 hour trips from point a to b. anymore than that, I'll just walk, lol

I'm a little tentative about it, however I'm relaxed when I get up in the air. Just put on your iPod and take a nap, sheesh.
-If you're afraid of planes because of terrorists, then they're doing their job -If you're afraid of crashing, the rate is absurdly low. I'd rather know that I am going to die than lose 2 limbs and be paralyzed.
However, I do get a bit anxious about blood clots when on planes. Sitting too long in a cramped area can lead to a lack of blood flow, which could lead to a blood clot, which, if goes unattended to, can lead to death.

I'm terrified. Never been on a plane not only because of that, but because I'm too poor... Still terrified though.

It's not the flying that scares me so much as the possibility of suddenly not flying.
