The show started with the WWA Pound-for-Pound World Championship match weigh-in, as Paul Burchill made his way to the ring, filled with Commissioner Malenko, agent Theodore Long, referee Jimmy Korderas, and interviewer Brent Musberger. Burchill weighed in at 247 pounds, and then took the microphone and declared that he will be the next champion, explaining that Regal's Heavyweight Championship victory at WWA 3 and his victories against Ted Dibiase and David Hart Smith prove that the English are the world's best athletes. Burchill then signed the contract. Jack Swagger made his way to the ring, handing off the World Championship belt to Musberger. He weighs in at 264 pounds and signs the contract, all the while staring down his adversary. Swagger grabbed the mic and promises to prove to Burchill that an "All-American American" is miles ahead of a common British street thug. Burchill attacked Swagger as he turned around, slamming him through the table that the contract rested on. He then tossed the scale down on top of the champ's prone body. He held Swagger's championship belt in the air before leaving the ring, forced out by the many officials standing by for the event.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH: Hurricane Helms def. Tyson Kidd w/Natalya (9:43)
In a match-up pitting two fan-favorites against each other "The Hurricane" took on the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon, Tyson Kidd, who was accompanied to the ring by the lovely Natalya. After a disappointing loss to Chris Jericho in his WWA debut, Tyson Kidd continued to impress against the debuting Helms, but Hurricane was able to pull out the victory, hitting Kidd with a top rope cross body block and then the Vertebreaker for insurance and a three count. After the match, Helms helped up his opponent and shook his hand, thanking him for a hard-fought battle.
Backstage, Brent Musberger caught up with Commissioner Malenko regarding the attack by Burchill on Swagger. Malenko said that he would not do anything to punish Burchill for the unwarranted assault, and he also did not see any way Swagger would allow him to push the match back. So, it was still on for WWA 5, and Malenko, for one man, thought Swagger would be out for revenge on the next WWA show.
INTERDIVISION MATCH: Charlie Haas def. AJ Styles (10:12)
The night's second match pitted Charlie Haas of the heavyweight division against A.J. Styles of the light heavyweight division. "The Phenomenal One" used his speed to his advantage against the technically-minded "World's Greatest Athlete," but Haas was the man to earn the victory. Styles set Haas up for the Styles Clash, but he wriggled free, and then reversed, setting styles up for his version of the Alabama Slam. He flipped the lighter Styles onto his neck with the World's Greatest Slam for the pinfall victory, Haas's first in WWA.
INTERDIVISION MATCH: Kofi Kingston def. Edge (8:13)
The "Rated R Superstar" continued with his fierce, hard-hitting offense, hitting his opponent almost as soon as he entered the ring, but it was the speedster Kingston who took control of the match, using his agility against. Edge's new style worked while against methodical heavyweights, but the light heavyweight Kofi was quite the opposite. Kingston picked up his first interdivisional victory by hitting Edge with the Trouble in Paradise for a pinfall victory. After the match, Edge tried to attack Kingston during his post-match celebration, but the victor cleared out before any damage could be done.
Backstage, Santino Marella tried to make friends with The Miz, realizing he did not have any allies in the company. In his dumb way, he merely insulted The Miz -- saying that he, too, had no friends, and bringing up the fact that he beat him in the Welterweight Championship tournament. The self-proclaimed "Awesome" one told Marella to buzz off, and assured him that whomever won tonight between Christian and Chris Jericho would be defeating Marella at WWA 5.
WELTERWEIGHT MATCH: D'Angelo Dinero def. Matt Hardy (7:53)
In the debut of the two newest Welterweights in WWA, "The Pope" battled with the last Hardy brother. Dinero showed a new offense which Hardy obviously did not expect as he dominated the match using agility and quick hits. Dinero had Hardy huddled in the corner, when he peeled down his knee pads and then charged Hardy, planting both knees directly into the chest of his opponent, a move he calls the Dinero Express. "The Pope" grabbed Hardy as he fell to the mat and pinned him for the victory.
INTERDIVISION MATCH: C.M. Punk def. Lance Storm (13:02)
This hard-fought battle between the "Straight Edge Superstar" C.M. Punk of the welterweight division and the verteran Lance Storm of the lightweight division nearly went to the final minute as the two men showed off their technical skills. While Storm was the veteran, youth prevailed as C.M. Punk was able to use his fast-paced, hard-hitting style to take down the elder Storm, finally finishing him off with the Go 2 Sleep for a pinfall victory.
WELTERWEIGHT CONTENDER'S MATCH: Christian def. Chris Jericho (11:54)
The night's main event of the first non-tournament show went to the welterweights, and Christian and Chris Jericho delivered with an excellent back-and-forth battle. The champion, Santino, watched from the stage as his two adversaries battle back-and-forth. It was Christian, the man who Santino defeated in the finals of the Welterweight Title tournament, that earned the pinfall victory, catched Jericho with the Killswitch for the win. After the match, Christian stood on the turnbuckles and signalled to Santino that he would be taking his championship next week!
