From the very beginning, I could tell you need a bit of help and I’m here to provide as much as it as possible. You actually remind me a lot of myself when I first started booking (whether you take that as a good thing or a bad thing is up to you). First off, your opening commentary was a little bit lacking and didn’t really sound like Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. The opening commentary to a show, I feel, sets the mood for the show. Have JR and King run down the card for that night’s card or perhaps go into a little more detail about what occurred last week. Little things like this add up, Penguin.
Now, the opening segment between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles was good, albeit a little lacking. I like that you had Angle mention that he’s “a wrestling machine” because Angle usually boasts about his past accomplishments, especially if he’s a heel. I would have like to have you make Angle say more, such as: “AJ Styles has nothing on me! What has he ever done that compares to me? I am an Olympic Gold Medalist! I’ve competed numerous times with a broken freakin’ neck!”. Ya know, stuff like that. Styles part of the segment was very lacking; but then again, in real life Styles is lacking in his promo skills (at least I feel). Angle getting the upper hand makes him look very strong. Decent job, buddy.
Very early in the Kofi Kingston/Brian Kendrick vs. Matt Sydal/Hurricane, I saw something that disturbed me. Kofi went for the cover on Hurricane WAY TOO EARLY in the match and still got a two count! These four wrestlers are guys who work “well paced” matches. In other words, they like to work their opponent before coming out with aggressive, and with this group of guys, high flying moves. The entire match just seemed rush, man. Take your time.
That Dudley Boyz promo was very…un-Dudley like. I get that the Dudley Boyz are faces in your fed but they were almost too nice. They’re the Dudley Boyz man, they usually throw in some trash talking!
Again, The Abyss/Mick Foley segment was out of character for both, especially Abyss. Abyss is a MONSTER, man. I just can’t sit here and imagine Abyss, the scary dude that he is, walk demanding to know where his property is, finds out someone stole it, and remain relatively calm. I especially don’t see him saying “thank you”. I see him FREAKING OUT, I see him screaming that he’s going to rip Kendrick’s head off.
Again, what was the point of Terry Funk walking into Foley’s room just to smack him? I understand they have a Hardcore title match at BOOM, but Foley treated him like they don’t have a match coming up. “Hey Terry what can I do for you?” is just too friendly for two guys who will likely kill each other soon.
The Orton/Roode match was decent, albeit not well executed. I think you need to work on match writing, specifically how to work a match (if that makes any sense). Try to take your time and don’t be in a rush. I wonder who the “mystery man” was that helped Orton out. Hmmm…
I assume that “JB” is Jeremy Borash? I wonder what Angle and Morgan have in mind?
The Rock/Hernandez (what an odd tag team) against Goldust/Goldberg (even odder) was interesting. I feel the same way about this match as I have felt about the others to be honest. By the way, it seems like you just randomly threw Goldberg and Goldust as a tag team because they both have “gold” in their names…not exactly a tremendous reason there. They are two completely different wrestlers with two completely different personalities. Hernandez turning on The Rock at the end of the match was interesting.
That whole Tommy Dreamer/Taz exchange was odd.
The main event was your best match of the show, as it should be. However, the end result was quite odd. Taz aligned himself with Booker T and turns his back on Dreamer. It’s not so much odd, because I expected it, but the entire situation. Penguin, my man, I think you have potential but you need a lot of work to do. My first suggestion for you is to nail down dialogue between wrestlers. You should watch a lot of promos from the wrestlers you use so you can get their speech, their way of talking, down cold. Next, improve on your match writing. I think if you put in the effort, you’ll improve in due time. Nice job.

I think the key to you improving is to really learn the promo. Learn the way wrestlers speak and learn their dialog, then learn how to express the charecter's thoughts through this dialog. It was especially apparent with Abyss, Foley, and Funk. All three have a very specific ways of speaking which didn't really translate through your writing. Your storylines are progressing nicely and your matches definately have made it a much further level than most people are able to in 3 shows.
