WWA 6
Power Struggle
Dec. 10, 2009
Before the show, a highlight video airs, showing all of the action from WWA 5, including the crowning of three new champions -- Hurricane Helms (Light Heavyweight), Christian (Welterweight), and Edge (Heavyweight) -- as well as Jack Swagger's successful title defense over Paul Bur1chill. Finally, the video shows the parts of the highlight video of Brock Lesnar -- who is set to make his return to wrestling here in the WWA!
An image comes across the screen, reading "For Eddie Fatu... Rest in Peace.
Brent Musberger welcomed everyone to the show from the ring, where he immediately introduced the WWA Pound-for-Pound Champion of the World, Jack Swagger! Brent asked Jack about the Lesnar videos, and Jack said he knew what Lesnar wanted, and he wants it as well -- a title match at "End of the Line." Just then, Swagger is interrupted by the new Heavyweight Champion, the "Rated R Superstar," Edge! Edge said that he didn't think Lesnar would find Swagger to be a threat, and he wanted a match against "The Real Deal." Swagger and Edge got in each other's faces, but before things could get out of line, Commissioner Malenko came out to ringside and announced a match for later tonight -- Edge vs. Swagger, where the winner would face Brock Lesnar at WWA's "End of the Line" PPV later this month.
WELTERWEIGHT MATCH: D'Angelo Dinero def. Santino Marella (6:24)
With the crowd still buzzing from the main event announcement, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero made his way to the ring to a mixed reaction, followed shortly thereafter by the cocky loser, the "Italian Stallion," Santino Marella. While the match was nto as dominant as Christian's title victory over Marella, Dinero still had his way with Santino for the most part. "The Black Pope" continued on his hot streak, catching Marella with his version of the Codebreaker for the pinfall victory.
After the match, Dinero called out the Welterweight Champ, Christian, saying that he deserved the next title shot with his record now at 3-0. He got his wish as Christian made his way to the ring, and told "the Pope" to name the time and place. He did so -- at End of the Line! Christian nodded and shook Dinero's hand, agreeing to the match. "Pope" said Christian needs to watch his back and then walked backstage. Before Christian could leave, Santino grabbed a microphone and told him that Christian was right -- Santino did need to get serious. And per that advice, Santino would be hiring a personal trainer and coming back in one month to take back his championship. Christian said he'd be glad to fight Santino again soon, and they shook hands.
WWA "END OF THE LINE" GAUNTLET QUALIFYING MATCH: David Hart Smith def. Charlie Haas (7:30)
As announced at WWA 5, "End of the Line" live on pay-per-view will feature a gauntlet match with the winner earning a WWA Pound-for-Pound World Championship shot in the near future. The winner of this bout would be the first entrant into the gauntlet. "The World's Greatest Athlete" Charlie Haas made his way to the ring first with his partner "The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin, who received a mixed reaction. Then, David Hart Smith and the rest of the Hart Dynasty made their way to the ring to a decent "pop" from the crowd. Both men battled back and forth, with Haas using his technical skill and Smith trying to overpower his opponent. It was power than won over technical prowess in the end with Smith planting Haas to the mat with a running powerslam for the pinfall victory.
Backstage, William Regal and Paul Burchill confront Dean Malenko over the "injustices" that took place at WWA 5 -- they both deserve a rematch after the outcomes of their matches. Malenko says he can understand why either one of them would have a gripe, but because one of Edge or Jack Swagger would be facing Brock Lesnar at End of the Line, he can't give them both a shot. Malenko cut a deal with them though -- one of them will face the loser of the Edge/Swagger match for their title at End of the Line. He didn't care which one, but it would be up to them to decide by the end of the night!
WWA "END OF THE LINE" GAUNTLET QUALIFYING MATCH: Ted DiBiase, Jr. def. Kofi Kingston (10:43)
The man with the "controlled frenzy," Kofi Kingston made his way to the ring first to a huge ovation from the crowd for this match, showing us that members of all three weight classes would be comepting in this gauntlet. He was followed by the "Priceless" welterweight, Ted Dibiase, Jr., who received a chorus of boos. Despite having the crowd on his side, the high-energy Kingston could not seem to take advantage of DiBiase for the longest time. While he was able to hit Ted with his signature leg drop, he could not get him to the ground. Finally, it appeared that Kingston was firmly in control, but as Dibiase ducked under Kofi's "Trouble in Paradise" kick, he grabbed onto the African superstar and slammed him to the ground with his Dream Street finisher. Dibiase then hooked the leg for a pinfall victory.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH: Evan Bourne def. Colin Delaney (11:22)
The former Light Heavyweight Champion, Colin Delaney, was in the ring as we returned, and he was degrading the crowd in Atlanta, saying that he may have lost to Hurricane, but he would re-gain his title soon enough. He also promised another victory against Bourne, who quickly made his way to the ring to a positive ovation from the crowd. Bourne rode the momentum of the crowd as he battled with Delaney, who was hell-bent on redeeming himself after his loss last week. While he was able to hold off Bourne from having an opportunity at his "Air Bourne" shooting star press, he was not able to hold off a victory as the former champion was rolled up for a pinfall victory in the rematch of WWA' first light heavyweight match!
A highlight video aired, showing two pre-show matches as "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles got back on the winning track with a pinfall victory of Cody Rhodes in a light heavyweight match, and The Miz defeated Matt Hardy with the Skull-Crushing Finale in welterweight action.
Brent Musberger caught up with the World Champion backstage. Jack Swagger said that he was ready for Edge. He was sore coming off the tough match against Paul Burchill, but he was ready. He wanted to prove his grit against Brock Lesnar, and he planned on winning tonight.
WWA "END OF THE LINE" GAUNTLET QUALIFYING MATCH: Lance Storm def. Randy Orton (10:34)
The final qualifying match of the night pitted "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton against a legendary veteran in Lance Storm. "The Viper" made his way to the ring first to a chorus of boos, followed shortly thereafter by Storm, who received a mixed ovation on his entrance but had the crowd firmly on his side throughout the match. While it appeared that Orton had the match in control for most of the time, it was Storm who picked up a surprise victory! Orton had the veteran set up for his patented punt kick, but Storm rolled out of the way and Orton tumbled into the corner. The former "Impact Player" then stood up and as Orton turned around, nailed him with a swift superkick to the jaw! Orton collapsed to the mat and Storm went for a pinfall to earn the upset victory.
After the match, Orton grabbed a microphone and declared that he would be taking a leave from the company, saying he "had been screwed over enough in the past few weeks. I am the greatest thing that has ever happened to this company, but you'll be lucky if you see me again."
Backstage, John Cena and M.V.P. were discussing the End of the Line gauntlet match, when they are interrupted by Chris Jericho and C.M. Punk. They assured Cena and M.V.P. that neither of them should worry about the gauntlet, because they would not be entering it -- next week, it will be Chris Jericho vs. M.V.P. and C.M. Punk vs. John Cena in qualifying matches. MVP said Jericho should pick on someone his own size, but they'd be lucky to find someone so short. Jericho slapped him across the face, but Cena held him back, saying he could get him next week as Punk and Jericho walked away.
HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH | MAIN EVENT: Jack Swagger def. Edge (9:56)
Tonight's main event had the highest stakes, but it was sadly not the most exciting match of the night. Edge made his way to the ring first to a decent reaction, followed by his adversary, Swagger, who receives a standing ovation from the crowd. Edge used his new fierce style as the crowd was literally split fifty-fifty, with chants of "Let's go Edge" and
"Let's go Swagger" filling the air. While both men had the advantage for a least a portion of the match, it was the World Champion who came out on top, avoiding a spear and planting Edge to the mat with the Swagger Bomb for a pinfall victory.
Jack left to the back celebrating, but not long after, William Regal appeared on the titan tron. He announced to Edge that a decision had been made, and he, Regal, would be facing Edge once again at End of the Line. The camera zoomed out to reveal that Burchill lay out Regal's feet, completely unconscious. As Edge pulled himself to his feet in the ring, a tall, tattooed man appeared behind him. Regal announced that his partnership with Burchill was a failure, and he'd like to introduce Edge to his new associate -- Vance Archer. Edge turned around and immediately received a boot to the face from Archer. Archer then picked him up and planted him to the mat with a snap inverted DDT. Regal picked up the World Heavyweight Championship and held it over his head as he and Archer admired their handiwork -- Edge laying flat on the mat.
