(my FIx-up Maryse) The Outfit is in progress Former Divas Champion Maryse recently sat down with SLAM! Wrestling to answer several fan questions. Here are some of the highlights: On tomorrow's TLC PPV: - I would say it will be a pretty hardcore pay-per-view. It reminds me a little bit of ECW, what they were doing a little while ago. On Sheamus: - Sheamus is really different. He’s got a really unique look. He’s so white, and with his red hair and beard, it’s so weird! John Cena is pretty white, but he looks really tanned compared to Sheamus. I like his charisma in the ring, his aggressive style, and he’s got a great bad guy personality. On becoming the Gobbledy Gooker: - They sent me pictures over e-mail to help me prepare myself. When I saw the costume, I was like ‘Oh boy.’ That night, wearing the costume, I was walking out of the curtain and up the ramp, and I couldn’t see out of the costume. The eyes are white, and with the strobes, it just reflected inside the head. I was totally blind. I was trying to get to the ring as fast as I could, and I was so worried that I would just fall down the stage or down the ramp on my way to the ring. My heart was racing, I was freaking out. Especially when there’s 20,000 people looking at you, and the cameras are on you and it’s live TV. At some point, I was almost tempted to lift the head off so I could see, but it had to be a secret that it was me underneath, so I couldn’t. What we have to do for the show, right? On her recent injuries: - I had dislocated kneecap, and had torn ligaments. It wasn’t really painful, just annoying -- the swelling in my leg just wouldn’t go down. So I decided to go get it fixed. On her job: - There’s nothing like performing in front of a crowd of 10,000 or 20,000, or 100,000 like at a Wrestlemania. I think modelling is boring. You can walk a runway, but that’s nothing like walking down a WWE ramp where the fans are ecstatic and they’re screaming so loud. I love it. On her inspirations: - The Rock. Even though I’m a girl, I look at him as an inspiration. He was just amazing. He had a lot of range in his character, he had the crowd reacting every night no matter what he was doing. It’s really hard to do, and he did it really well. On her future goals as a WWE Diva: - If you were to ask me five years ago where I would be now, I wouldn’t have known. When I look back and think about everything I’ve done in the past few years, I can’t even remember everything. So, where I will be in even six months? That’s a big question. What I can say is that no matter what I’m doing, I’ll be doing something that I like. As long as I’m happy, and I enjoy doing what I’m doing, I’ll keep going.

All jokes aside, I think her claiming The Rock as an inspiration is pretty easy to see. Her mannerisms and confidence are proof of that.
What she lacks in the wrestling side, much like The Rock, is made up for in character.

Yeah... She's pretty much a diva version of The Rock. Like Adam said, both lack in wrestling side, but they are so entertaining, that it looks like if they were good.

..and plus she is ridiculously sexy. I don't need to see her chain wrestle, go through tables, or fly to impress me. Her character and body keep my eyes glued to screen just fine.

She's far from the best in the ring, but she still does a good job at being entertaining, which somes Divas really seem to struggle with. And you're even more correct on the point that she's certainly quite nice to look at.

After reading the replies here and in many other threads, I think I'm the only one who actually thinks that The Rock was an above average wrestler..

I hope I wasn't the only one who read that interview in my head with Maryse's voice.

No sir, which is why I found the "below average" comments kinda wierd. Rock always seemed extremely talented in the wrestling department. He's known for having the total package of looks, talent, and charisma.

The Rock was definitely above average in the ring. He went toe to toe and matched move for move with Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Most of my favorite title matches are between The Rock and Chris Benoit especially Fully Loaded 2000.

Move for move with Eddie and Beniot?? Two guys who could flat out wrestle, brawl, fly, and everything else in between? The Rock had a very average move set, however - he put his own touch on nearly everything.
He knew how to put an exclamation point on EVERYTHING he hit, which helped him a lot. But saying he could go toe to toe with two of the best in ring competitors ever is really stretching it.

I agree with you guys. She is not the best wrestler out of the Divas ,but she is with out a doubt the most entertaining. It's easy to see the inspiration from the Rock.

Why does she think it's odd for a girl to look up to a male wrestler as an inspiration? That just really gets me. I've never been a huge fan of the Rock but it takes a really slow person to say he is anything less than amazing.

I've never been a huge fan of the Rock but it takes a really slow person to say he is anything less than amazing. Oh I admit he was amazing. But he was no mat technician. He achieved legendary status, but he couldn't paint a Vincent van Gogh on the canvas of the wrestling ring. He was passable in the ring with his craft, but where he shined was as The Rock, that was the entertainer. His mannerisms, exclamation marks on moves, and the ability to hold a crowd in the palm of his hand is what made him so successful. And that's okay too... but his ring work was nothing glorious.

Cool interview. I saw parts of it but this is the full version so it is better. I really like Maryse. She started out so bad but now is one of the best up and coming divas. Her charisma is off the charts so I hope she stays in the wwe til she retires.

As a performer...I should have clarified better. As a mat technician...well...he tried. He made up for it though with his acting skill. Once he ditched the Rocky Maivia gimmick and was The Rock, he really broke out and showed that he could be entertaining.

The Rock actually got better towards the end of his career IMO. When he returned with a leaner physique, he was just explosive. Fast as hell. Pre-Hollywood Rock and Post-Hollywood was a world of difference
Sure he was no mat technician, but he was definitely in the group of superstars who could pull out well above average matches with more superior mat wrestlers. He flowed much better than say HHH/Austin when it came to matches with guys like Benoit/Eddie/Angle.

I thought it was hilarious when she looked back at the tron during the Raw and screamed when she saw she had yellow "legs" on when she tried to take off her Gooker costume.
That was great!

Best part of that? Those little bitty shorts. I think I speak for every male watching when I say, "God DAYUMN!"

She has a great body, no doubt. Her boobs are too augmented though. And way too big for her frame.
