I was wondering, for anyone who is old enough to remember what were common shelfwarmers during the LJN or Hasbro days? I was very young and I really can't remember. I also got in towards the end of LJN and have no real recollection of shelfwarmers. I would be very interested in taking a trip down memory lane to anyone who might remember.

The Headshrinkers and The Bushwhackers warmed mad shelves. In fact, most of the dark blue card series were super shelf warmers. The Rockers tag pack too

I remember my local Woolworth's would have dozens of Bobby Heenans, Classy Freddie Blassies and Jimmy Harts.
Years later - I would find plenty of Outback Jacks, Kamalas and Rick Rudes at my local Toys R Us.
If I knew then, what I know now...

Hmm, great question. As far as the Hasbro's go, I believe the biggest shelf warmers that I can remember are Sid Justice, The Rockers 2-pack, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, and Ultimate Warrior #1. My God, that Warrior was awful.
I can barely remember any shelf warmers from the LJN series because it was so long ago and I was like 5 or 6 then, but if I had to guess, I'd say some of the biggest shelf warmers would be Jimmy Hart, Tito Santana purple trunks, Ted Arcidi, Corporal Kirchner, and "Cowboy" Bob Orton to name a few.

Some Hasbro shelfwarmers were the Bushwackers 2 pack and singles, LOD 2 pack, Tatanka purple card, Dusty Rhodes, Razor in purple, and HBK in Black. Also the Galoob Sting in blue and AWA Flair vs Zbyszko 2 pack were major shelf warmers.

Here in Australia it was the Hasbro green card series. In all seriousness they couldn't give them away. The Kid and Yokozuna weren't so common but The Gunns, Borga, Adam Bomb and Heel Crush were everywhere. Toys R Us reduced the crap out of The Smoking Guns to clear them. If I had have known how rare they were overseas I would have stocked up on them

For LJNs, I remember seeing a lot of Bruno Sammartino, Greg Valentine and Freddie Blassie clogging the pegs at stores when I was a kid.
Also, while stores didn't stock as many LJN tag team packs, every store that carried them seemed to have trouble getting rid of the Iron Shiek-Nikolai Volkoff 2-pack. Part of the problem is that both figures came out as singles very early in the LJN run, and there was nothing different about them other than the brown belts. Kids like me already had both figures before the 2-pack hit shelves and it wasn't worth $20 just to get the pair of brown tag team title belts.

Here it was Mean Gene and Blassie as far as LJNs. One local Toys R Us had them into the '90s.
As far as Hasbro's...Piper, Honky, Rockers, LOD, Samu, Fatu, Luke, Butch, and Gonzalez.

I was too young for LJN, but I definitely remember seeing a few old Remco AWA figures. I remember seeing Garvin and Baby Doll. The cards were BEAT.
As for Hasbro, The ROCKERS warmed forever. KB had Bret Hart, Taker, and Ramon purple in multiples. They were 3/$10 by about 1995.
Don't we all wish we picked them up back then?

I cant remember any from the first batches as i only ever paid attention to ones i needed for my collection. However i remember in 1995 home and bargains got hundreds of foreign cards in stock, mainly ultimate warrior 2 and boss man 1. Also remember the local pound shop having boxes full of purple carded tatankas for about 2/3 years

Shelfwarmers in Allentown, PA from what I can remember:
Hasbro
Rick Rude Jake Roberts Roddy Piper Jimmy Snuka The Rockers The Bushwhackers IRS Tatanka Brutus #2 Bret Hart Red Card Undertaker Red Card All later blue cards with the exception of Giant Gonzales
Some of the surprisingly tough to locate figures included all of the yellow and green cards, specifically Nailz and evil Crush, Koko B. Ware, Greg Valentine, LOD, Nasty Boys, and the British Bulldog.
LJN
Was too young to remember but I did find Bossman, Haku, Warlord, and Rude at retail. The only ones I bought (well, my parents, I was 2/3) when they came out. I've heard interesting stories about certain areas having a really tough time clearing out Haku though.
Galoob
Sting Ric Flair Arn Anderson Lex Luger
Toughest to find in my area were Z-Man, Butch Reed, and Sid.

I'll add this to the discussion. For Christmas 1994, my mom got me and my brother both MOC Terry Funk's. She said she found them on clearance at Walmart and was suprised to find them. I'll always remember it, because it was the only LJN I actually got to open myself. So at least two Terry Funk's warmed for the better part of a decade around here, or got lost in a stock room or something.
