I don't know why but alot of the time, I enjoy these feuds over the main event feuds. It might be because the main event is just "you have a title, I want that title, I challange you" rehashed a thousand times.
Is easily my favourite feud/series of matches that happened in 2009. It even got its own video package.
So, what's your favourite midcard feud ever and of 2009? And do we need to see more of them on TV?

Undertaker vs Kane. Hands down my favorite "majority non title" feud.

For this past year- Hurricane vs. Burchill.
Of all time? The Hardyz vs. E&C.

All time = E&C/Hardyz/Dudleyz
2009 = I've really enjoyed the Burchill/Hurricane feud.

Jesus Christ yes. It's something Stephanie has never understood as head writer.

Jesus Christ yes. It's something Stephanie has never understood as head writer. Shane needs to come back to his family's company and falcon punch her in the uterus. His non-title, midcard feuds with Kane, Big Show, Steve Blackman, and Kurt Angle were some of the most entertaining programs with nothing on the line(other than pride) I have ever seen. It's sorely lacking in today's product. I wish we could see the other two brands build up random feuds like ECW does such a great job doing.

I've been enjoying the Punk & Truth feud. But for the most part WWE doesn't have many mid card feuds. And NO tag team feuds. That's the best way to prepare those superstars for the main event. Shame is WWE drops the ball on a lot of talent.

Shame is WWE drops the ball on a lot of talent. Well, to be fair they did have Cryme Tyme vs. Hart Dynasty for a solid two months straight ongoing on SD! but even with that- people on this forum found ways to complain about it ad nauseam...I really enjoyed their matches, and the bookers did the best job they could at mixing it up, because they were really the only two teams on SD! at the time. I feel the same exact way as you do, I really miss the days of solid tag feuds, it was my favorite part of the Attitude Era.

Yeah I really do the last one that springs to my mind was the Jamie Nobel and Chuck Pulumbo one I really enjoyed that. The best mid card feud for me of this modern era has to be the MNM vs Kendric and London I loved everything these guys did they worked really well togher.
I don't know why they don't have more mid card feuds that maybe last like 3 or 6 months at the very most they don't need loads of mic time just a little hear and there but most of the story is told in the ring,

I really enjoyed the edge vs christian feud, ending with edge winning the IC title in a ladder match at no mercy.

Absolutely. The days of utilizing your whole roster are long gone, and it's incredibly unfortunate. Sometimes you'd have mid-card feuds built so well that they would be even more exciting than the main events.
This year, the only mid-card feud that stood out to me was Morrison & The Miz vs. Carlito & Primo heading into Wrestlemania. Great stuff, really revitalized the tag division and reminded me of the days of Edge & Christian and the Hardys.
My favorites of all time include Edge & Christian vs. The Hardys vs. The Dudleys, The Rock vs. Triple H (Intercontinental Title days), and Jericho vs. Benoit.

I think Smackdown did a good job this year with Morrison/Ziggler, R-Truth/Punk, Morrison/Drew, Hardyz and I'm sure others.

One of the best feuds in WWE is a mid-card feud: Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston, yes Randy is a main eventer but he's helping elevate Kofi and it counts as a mid-card feud. I am also liking Morrison/McIntyre as McIntyre is growing on me more and more and Morrison is one of the best in the company.

I miss feuds in general. Not just BS "let's have lots of rematches" nonsense like Goldust vs Sheamus or every other midcard feud in WWE for the last couple of years.

I have a bit of a weird opinion on what's happening outside the title picture...
Obviously, I want to see every superstar on the roster wrestling, well not every week, but fairly often. I mean, it's their job. But I don't think that it is necessary for creative to think 'well, they aren't going for a belt, so they may as well get into a feud with someone'. I mean, how many times have we even said things like 'I wonder what so and so will be doing after this storyline ends, he might be left with nobody to feud with.'?
I like watching rivalries and feuds develop, but I don't think everyone should be in one. I think there should be a ranking system however, which means that when wrestlers win matches, they actually get in line so to speak for a title shot. Then no matter what, everyone would have something to aim for. That's what the WWE is about (for the wrestlers), to be a Champion (obviously mid-card feuds over championships are must have, but as I said, if someone isn't going for a title, it shouldn't mean they have to be in a personal battle with someone either).
If you're picking up what I'm dropping down...?

If you're picking up what I'm dropping down...? I've always thought a clear ranking system would be beneficial to business too. It could bring more interest to what would seem like random matches. With that said, I don't miss mid card fueds because they still happen pretty frequently. Just tune into ECW and there you go. They brought us Sheamus v Goldust, Hurricane v Burchill, Shelton v Ryder, Yoshi v Regal. All of those were within the last 6 months.
