Hey,
After a few minor interruptions that I gladly took care of, I am back with another "Blast From The Past". This time we've got the masked man known only by one name, Avatar!!
Avatar blasted onto the WWF scene back in late 1995 and his stay was a short one. Of course, we all know the man behind the mask was none other than Al Snow.
We knew that because he would come down to the ring carrying his mask in hand, then when the match would start, he would put it on. Then, after it ended, I believe he took it off again. It was a really weird character and gimmick that clearly did NOT catch on with the WWF fans at all.
Thus, it was dropped almost as quickly as it got started. Here's his debut match in the World Wrestling Federation against Brian Walsh.
Al Snow never had an official action figure under the Avatar gimmick. However, there is a pretty sweet custom right here:
I can't recall any memorable feuds he had with anyone. I'm sure he wrestled The Brooklyn Brawler at least once during his tenture. I mean, come on, who didn't??
His entrance theme was found and released by "Themers United", GodzFire, KNorth and LrdPerfect and it is clear and complete and runs 2:32 in length. It's one of the MANY themes I've got in my own personal collection.
Other than that, there really isn't a whole heck of alot you can say about Avatar other than he was there and tried to make an impact, but failed and then left. Only to be repackaged a few times over, but that's another story for another time.
So, there you have it. Another "Blast From The Past" is in the books. And just like the old commercials the WWF used to air, "Don't Fall For Cheap Immitations".
;D
