Hey,
I am back again here with another old-school classic "Blast From The Past" and this time I chose to feature the one and only, "The Master of The Full Nelson" Billy Jack Haynes.
He entered the World Wrestling Federation in 1986 and had feuds with "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WWF Intercontinental title and another strong-man at the time, Hercules Hernandez.
His feud with Hercules Hernandez culminated at the biggest WrestleMania of all-time, WrestleMania III which many have dubbed "The Battle of The Full-Nelsons".
Their war was not settled as they battled to a double-countout and then Hercules grabbed his steel chain and clobbered Haynes with it and left him laying bloody and battered.
Here's a singles match of his when he took on the massive King Kong Bundy:
Another match against Moondog Rex:
I believe Billy Jack Haynes continued to flounder in the mid-card until they decided to pair him up with "Olympic Strongman" Ken Patera. I can remember them teaming up against Demolition at one point.
I doubt they were successful, but they certainly tried anyway. Billy Jack came in at a time where few wrestlers had entrance theme music. Thus, he never had one. At least not during his time in the WWF.
He did, however, have his own WWF LJN action figure:
I believe that was his one and ONLY figure as well. Unless he was signed to the WWE classic series without my knowledge, his LJN figure is the only one he had.
Here's the poster that came with his LJN figure:
He also had his own trading cards:
And what surprises me the most, he even had his very own t-shirt. I didn't think he was in the WWF long enough to warrant getting his own shirt, but the good people in the WWF Merchandise department at the time, certainly thought otherwise:
I am not too sure why he left the WWF, but I believe it had something to do with him jobbing in his hometown and he was unwilling to do so, so they canned him.
He then headed to WCW and became a masked man known as Black Blood and he didn't do much there. Long story short, he realized that he would never be as big or famous as he once was in the WWF, so he finally retired in 1996.
I can't say that I miss him or his work. I enjoyed Hercules Hernandez more to be honest.
Like the other Superstars that I have featured in these "Blast From The Past" posts, he wasn't the most famous or athletically gifted wrestler there was, but he did leave his mark and for that, I thank him.
There you have it. Another "Blast From The Past" in the books. If you have any memories or thoughts on Billy Jack Haynes, please share them right here!! Thanks.
