Avatar was okay at best. Really nothing special, totally not worth ANY of the hype. The fact that it has a Best Picture nomination discredits the validity of the Academy Awards themselves. (And yes, by that logic The Dark Knight should have been nominated for Best Picture).
I will say the 3D was good. The world of Pandora was really cool with amazing plants and animals... which is why it's so disappointing that it's inhabitants are nothing more than obnoxious stereotypes of Native Americans in the guise of blue cat people. They wore loincloths, face paint, talked in that Tonto-esque Hollywood-thinks-this-is-how-Indians-sound style. They rode horse-like creatures, used bows, arrows and spears, and even made those Native American war cries when riding into battle.
The story was beyond unoriginal. It was Dances with Wolves meets Pocahantas meets Ferngully. If it took James Cameron 15 years to develop this movie, he should have taken a bit longer.
I could go on. It wasn't unwatchable as I sat through the whole thing and didn't feel cheated by the experience. It's just the hype and the box office draw that annoys me. The movie didn't deserve it as far as I'm concerned.

I have no desire to see that stupid movie. Amazing CGI and 3D graphics just don't make the movie for me.

ing sh it No. It overindulges CGI as an excuse for its terrible and plagiarized storytelling. LOL, as if Juno wasn't the same story we've all seen on Lifetime disguised with a hipster soundtrack and terrible dialogue. Avatar is the highest grossing movie in history -- that is one Etch-a-sketch that can't be undid, homeskillet.

I'm not sure how it ever did, but I can guarantee the producers of that movie would take the extra 2 billion dollars over one specific nomination, especially since Avatar is going to dominate all of the special effects categories.

I actually fell asleep and missed the last 30 or 40 minutes, because I was so ing bored with it... I cannot believe this is the #1 grossing movie of all time... Complete ing poop

I enjoyed it as an event picture, but after sitting through it 3 times in 3D, I'll never watch it again.

I loved it for the simple fact I went to the theater to have a good time, and didn't leave disappointed. It was an experience and a half.

I, and many other people, think you're wrong. How can you even say that your opinion is right or wrong? I disagree with you but that doesn't mean that I'm "right" -- this isn't a right or wrong issue. I for one think the movie stunk out loud, though I welcome your right to have an opinion. Just because you don't use contractions doesn't mean you're some genius.....
