The debut edition of NXT on 2/23 did a 1.4 rating (rounded up from a 1.35), with 1,704,000 viewers.
The Syfy Network issued a press release and the debut episode of WWE NXT averaged 1.7 million viewers, which was more viewers than ECW saw since September of 2009. According to the press release, the average NXT viewer was 35.2 years old and the average ECW viewer was 42.9 years old.
The numbers show that the debut episode of NXT was an overwhelming success

I thought the show would do a little better like a 1.6 rating, but still better then what ECW was getting so the WWE must be happy with the reboot.

I was expecting it to get a good rating for the first episode, it will be really good if the good ratings keep up now that people know what it is all about.

Good rating but it was the first show. We'll see how it does next week and on.

The worst part is 1.4 was gotten on it's premiere, and it took TNA much longer to get that with 2 hours.
I understand WWE promoted this to kingdom come (anyone promotes wrestling better than Spike, I've never seen a TNA commercial outside of its site, its YT profile or the network) plus the non-WF IWC were also jizzing to see Daniel Bryan (see, catchy name already) so that helped too. Still interesting to say (I like TNA, just something I noticed -- In no way am I "bashing" the company).

Holy poop. It's like all the originals fans kept thinking it was hardcore.

YOU WWE EXECUTIVES. ECW was our lovechild. You ripped it from us all too soon.

That is good news. I hope it keeps getting good numbers althought I expect it to dip a little from it's premier week.

I liked it a lot too... much more entertaining and worth while than ECW.

To Kids I think Danielson will lack in appeal. To us older lot, we love him. I loved it when he said he wished Regal was his mentor.
Certain things during his Match with Jericho will go down negatively. I noticed he kicked out of a simple move at 1, that in the WWE should have been a 2 count. You could see Jericho thought it made him look bad, but in ROH they would kick out of it at 1. Simple things like this is what he needs to change to adapt to the WWE.
I actually think they'll go and give Danielson some new gimmick along the lines in order to change his character in aid of the programme. I do hope he wins it though, the thought of Bryan Danielson V Shawn Michaels, and Bryan Danielson out-wrestling Triple H would be unreal.

You are crazy if you think Trips will get in the ring with Bryan. If he does, he will be like Cole with muscles: rip Bryan apart and make us cry.

I'm glad NXT was a success. They are trying something new and hell, they even tried to make the show look slightly different with the different camera angles. I'm even more excited that NXT is a great way to get young guys over by getting them a rub off of some more experienced WWE guys and it looks like they're tossing guys like Bryan into the water and seeing if they can stay afloat, which is a great way of testing guys instead of developing them in the same homogenized fashion and tossing 900 Randy Orton's that don't know how to get over or work a live crowd out there.
I'm on the NXT bandwagon...

I hope it does well, Ecw was boring without any hardcore rules.
