MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to take a massive hit on Dimitar Berbatov and dump him at the end of the season. The Bulgarian has struggled to make an impact since his £30.75million switch from Spurs in September 2008. His performances in the defeat against Chelsea and Sunday's goalless draw at Blackburn have been the final straw for many fans. And manager Alex Ferguson also looks to have lost faith in the club's record signing. Fergie opted for a half-fit Wayne Rooney against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg rather than risk Berbatov. The striker did get the nod for the title crunch with Chelsea but it was his first start against any of United's big-four rivals this season. Fergie argues his preference for playing one up front in European games has restricted Berbatov's action. But the last two games have shown when he does start, he cannot be relied upon. Berbatov, 29, has also been rapped in Bulgaria over his displays for the national team. With United's title bid all but over Ferguson is looking ahead to next season. His No 1 target a year ago, Karim Benzema, will be back on the market this summer after a poor season at Real Madrid. Ferguson could get his man for the £25m he originally offered before Real stepped in with a £35m bid. Its easy to look bad when your being compared to Wayne Rooney but I jhave to admit, hes underperformed when hes had the chance. Where do you think he will go?

Probably some German team as he played well over there. The guy has hidden quality but doesn't suit Utd and never will.

He is a very talented player, his first touch is incredible, and he can pick out a pass.
If you look at the stats, he has done more per minute than he did last year. I think he needs confidence, and Sir Alex dropping him for the big games will take that away from him, even though the system works.

Bit gutted as I like Berba, his touch is magical, he holds up the ball well and in the past few weeks hes been getting involved in the game an awful lot more. If he had had a break and got on the score sheet a bit, e.g. if he scored the winner for us he wouldn't be in this situation. On the flip side, wouldn't say no to Karim Benzema in the team, he is also a fantastic player.

If he rejected us, I do not want him.

As a United fan I would be happy to see Berb go, ever since day 1 he has just been incredibly lazy, that lazy he might as well of had a cup of tea with a saucer whilst playing. I can see a huge change come the summer, seeing that Joel Glazer and David Gill have had a meeting today about a transfer budget for summer spending. I've also heard that Fergie is interested in David Villa from Valencia, now that would be interesting.

Berbatov's a verrrrry good player no doubt about it, I just don't think his style suits a top Premiership club where he is under the microscope every second.

If he rejected us, I do not want him. I think it was a case of being outbid, we were prepared to offer up to £30 mil but Real went in with £35. We should be able to get him for closer to £25mil now from whats being reported. As for chosing them over us, I guess only he really knows that, but I know he's been a target for us for many years.

United would have to shift a few more players to make sure they have the funds for him! However, I do believe that he would be more suited to United than any other clubs in the Prem.

Well as I said David Gill and Joel Glazer had been chatting about a transfer budget for summer spending and £60m of the £80m that Madrid gave us in excahnge for Ronaldo will be available for Fergie plus the money that hopefully we get in exchange for Berbatov.

After deals for Smalling and Hernandez, I can not see us signing anyone else, even if Berba leaves.
We are skint, there is no other way to say it, it is highly unlikely there will be any high profile arivals in the summer, and I am not going to get my hopes up.

So you honestly think the team we have now and the additions of Smalling and Hernandez will carry United to more glory, somehow I don't think so. Expect at least 2 huge signings in the summer.
