It's sort of an interesting thing to think about. I found out about mine from a preview at the movie theater.

Mine is How I Met Your Mother. I remember seeing previews for the show during football games back in 05.. and thinking that it looked like a good show, but I never really got around to watching it. until one day about two years later, I happened to have CBS on and an episode of the show came on. I watched it.. thought it was great, and so I downloaded the first two seasons and the first half of the third season and watched them all in order.
That's it really.

I was bored as hell one night going through HBO On Demand, watched the first episode of Generation Kill, thought it was alright, then and episode of The Sopranos, good show, jusyt not my cup of tea that night. Then I finally said to myself, "What the is Curb Your Enthusiasm?", clicked on 'Watch' and now, months later, have every season sitting on my DVD shelf.

I don't really have one favorite, so I'll just go with a few of 'em:
-The Simpsons: Never had a chance. My dad loved it from the time it started so I grew up with it. -Family Guy: So many people here praised it that I checked it out on Cartoon Network in summer of '03 or '04, not sure which, but it was before the show was brought back by Fox. I remember when I got the DVDs, people said "Eh, it was an okay show but it can't be that great if it didn't last too long." -Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother: Started watching from the pilot episode. -Lost: Had NO interest in this from previews before it started. I thought it would be a short lived attempt at making Survivor a dramatic series, with a Hobbit thrown in for good measure. However, then I heard people say "...and there was a polar bear on the island...and the guy ISN'T in a wheelchair when he's on the island..." and I had to check it out. Caught either the fourth or fifth episode of the first season and have been hooked ever since. -The Office/Arrested Development/Entourage: Again, praise on this site got me to check them out. -Dead Like Me/It's Always Sunny...: Two shows I love that I actually blind-bought on DVD. Worked out well for me. -WWE: In the summer of '97 I was playing at my cousin's house and it started raining, so we had to come inside. Raw was on and I remember Paul Bearer threatening to expose a secret of the Undertaker's. I honestly predicted that it would be he was afraid of the dark. -Friends: I hated Biology in 9th grade. One night, I sat in my room with my notes open to what I should have been studying for the test the next day. Instead I closed them and thought "I think Friends comes on TBS about this time."

Peep Show.
I was watching Channel 4, and in the end credits of the program before it they advertised it, it came on and I was hooked from there.

Seinfeld or The Simpsons.
Wasn't hard to miss back in the '90s, and have been a fan of both since I first saw them.

The Office- My cousins always talked about it, and I decided why not. I watched some episodes online and bought Season 1 and so on.

"It's Garry Shandling's Show" - I found out about it when they were showing promos on FOX in the late 80s. In 2008, I saw many episodes from YouTube. So when they released the whole series on DVD, I bought it.

I had never even given Scrubs the time of day. Ever. I just wrote it off as one of the "witty" but actually unfunny comedies. But I caught a syndicated showing of which just happens to be arguably one of the show's greatest episodes. It was "My Screwup", and even though I had never watched that show a day in my life, and that particular episode was smack dab in the middle of season three, it nearly brought me to tears.
Been my favorite show since and I own every season on DVD to prove it.

South Park and True Blood- both from my older brother. He works in the TV/movie industry, and usually enlightens me on what's crap and what's worth investing my time in as far as TV goes.
