Portugal do not, under any circumstances, deserve to be 3rd in the world. The rankings are utter sh*te.

I thought I saw on ESPN yesterday that England was ranked 3rd? Maybe it was some other type of rating. Not too familiar with soccer

Nice to see Capello sticking to his word ''I will pick players on form'' I know i'll just be called ''bias'' but Bent should of been picked, imo he's one of the best finishers in the game. Heskey's probable inclusion baffles me, does all for Villa then somehow gets a call-up, Crouch can play the ''Heskey-type role' much better than Heskey himself

I would feel more confident with Bent there than Heskey tbh. Heskey is the type of player to cost us

why the has capello include warnock and upson and left out dawson and baines, also walcott or adam johnson would be better than wright-phillips

As a Villa fan, I'll still be the first to admit Heskey is useless! he offers barely anything to us and there are plenty of players who could do his job for England and do it better.

Don,t understand why he picked Wright-Phillips and Carrick over A. Johnson and Theo. Being an Everton fan I am a bit annoyed at Baines not being in but can understand why (not like he would have been picked over Cole anyway). I would have liked to have seen Parker in the squad because I think he will put his all into playing for England but if we win the world cup I will praise Fabio and agree with every selection he made.

I'm gutted A.Johnson never made it. Say what you want about him, but I've always thought he had potential. Apparently he's looked amazing in training. One of the best by miles reports said.

Darren Bent was also MOTM in the last training match before the Japan game

Bent should have been picked over heskey, glad joe cole made it over walcott who besides running fast is useless.

Surprised SWP over Walcott, real shocker.

Really, SWP in and omitting Adam Johnson is the big shocker. The same Adam Johnson that has kept out SWP in the Man. City team for the last 5 months.

Weird selection...
I'd of done this (looking at Cappellos squad)
Out: Wright-Phillips, Heskey, Warnock
In: Walcott, Bent, Baines
And I doubt I'm the only one...

Do none of you get it, Rooney, who you all seem to think our World Cup depends on, plays significantly better, and scores tons more alongside Heskey than anyone else, so he's got to be doing something right. It's not all about scoring goals Heskey is a very good player and he may not be as good as he once was, but he's still a good player who gets the best out of the striker we are saying is vital to our world cup bid. I'm glad Wallcott was left out, would have been nice to see Adam Johnson get a chance though.

Crouch is so much better than Heskey when he gets a game for England.

Crouch may score more goals but he and Rooney don't play that well together and Rooney prefers to play with Heskey, plus if Heskey not scoring is that much of a deal we wouldn't have been the highest scorers in the qualifiers with him up front would we? And that was before Rooney's fantastic scoring form this season, so I really don't see the problem with having Heskey and Rooney up front together.

Since England got a really easy group, you could have played the U19s up front and been the highest scorers. Also, I wouldn't call 45mins a chance.
