For the first time I saw Legends in person. The figures look phenomenal and the packages look pretty sweet. I figured they were the standard Mattel packages much like the basic since they didn't come in the Elite "box style" packages. I picked the figure up and the package is literally a brick. There is just so much space in the package that is unnecessary. It is bad enough Mattel wastes so much printing the name tags and making the plastic stands, but when I picked this thing up I was amazed. It is a bigger waste than Jakks' WWE Deluxe Aggression packaging.

They have to design them like that, because from what mattel said in an interview about their DCSH/DCUC lines each case holds a certain number of figures so they have to design them to still fit in the cases but hold larger figures/accessories without messing up the case count. So the way the cards are designed they can have smaller figures like the Steamboat and larger guys like Bundy or Andre in the same sized package without messing up the case counts.

PJ said it right there. Main objective, keep case counts the same.

hmmm... Initially i shared the same view as "xtremebass" that the packaging is really too thick and that the bubble could be alot thinner and that for MOC collectors, its really gonna take up too much space... but upon a closer analysis of the packaging, i realised that by makeing a thick bubble, it actually gives the figures a very nice look, much like the "Adult Collector" as how mattel likes to print on their packaging... so I think we cant really complain much abt it cos its a nice effort on mattel's part to make their toys look great :-)

...Jakks did the whole stand/waste of plastic thing. They made stands for every series of BCA - or every series as far as I know.

I collect MOC so the more packing the better! One day theres going to be no cardboard/plastic cases for anything due to these evironmental nuts so enjoy, and recycle if you do open them.

Isn't it nice to have a company making these figures where one of the only complaints is "The packaging is too nice or too big.". I'd much rather have more than less.

So the Legends packaging is much, much thicker than CS packaging? It'd be interesting to see how fat Mattel can make Yokozuna and still have him fit inside the plastic.

I just saw Legends for the first time today in store and the packaging is just HUGE! I understand why it is so big for upcoming figs that need it, but it really looks silly on small or even average built guys.
