URA FOREVER M Cup
-Date: July 14th, 2010
-Venue: Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, KY
-Show Theme: "Spartan X”
A green light shines throughout a darkened arena. In the ring, are URA Booker Gabe Sapolsky and URA Head of Talent Relations Stan Hansen. The entire URA Roster surround the ring.
Gabe Sapolsky: 2 years ago, UnReal Athletics was created with the vision to reshape the sport of professional wrestling. Due to many unforeseen circumstances, URA nearly closed it‘s doors, having not ran a show since January 2009. One of the contributing factors to this, was the sudden death of our Head of Talent Relations, Mitsuharu Misawa. Misawa was a great man, an excellent wrestler, and a hero to many of the men surrounding the ring right now.
Stan Hansen: When URA contacted me, and told me they wanted me to take Misawa‘s place as Head of Talent Relations, I was confused. Sure, I knew I could get the job done, but I know that Misawa had left some very big shoes to fill. And while I‘ll do my best in my position, I hope not to disappoint anyone if I do not live up to Misawa‘s legacy.
GS: So tonight, we bring to you the first ever FOREVER M Cup Tournament; a single-elimination tournament featuring 8 stars that embody Fighting Spirit. But before we announce that, I would like to initiate a 10 Bell Salute, in memory of Misawa-san.
The arena falls silent as the bell tolls 10 times, followed by a tribute video.
GS: I will now announce the competitors in the first FOREVER M Cup. First, Chris Hero! Second, CM Punk! Third, Bryan Danielson! And fourth, Samoa Joe!
SH: As Head of Talent Relations, I contacted 4 of Japan’s biggest stars to take place in this tournament as well. First, KENTA! Second, Go Shiozaki! Third, Kenta Kobashi! And the final man entering the FOREVER M Cup, Toshiaki Kawada!
GS: The winner of tonight’s tournament will not only be crowned the FOREVER M Cup Champion, but also, the first UnReal Athletics Heavyweight Champion!
All 8 Competitors stand in the ring, being greeted to a huge showing of respect by the fans of URA. The URA Athletes head to the locker room, with the exception of Jack Evans and Paul Burchill, who will kick off tonight‘s action!
Match 1:Jack Evans vs. Paul Burchill
Evans uses his speed early to maneuver around the much larger Burchill. It seems as though nothing Burchill tries is inescapable for Evans. However, Evans soon gets a little too comfortable on the offense, and attempts to suplex Burchill. Evans, unable to lift Burchill, has his suplex attempt reversed into a sickening Jackhammer. Once Burchill takes the offense, he is unstoppable. His aggression makes him seem unstoppable, as he tears Jack Evans limb from limb. Burchill hooks Evans for the C4, but Evans has the wherewithal to fight out. With Burchill staggered, Evans runs off the ropes, only to be met with a nasty clothesline from Burchill. This would be the beginning of the end for Evans, as Burchill would set him up for the Curbstomp, and deliver it with sickening force, nearly crushing Evans skull.
Winner: Paul Burchill via Pinfall at 5:34
Matt Striker: Impressive showing by the newcomer, Paul Burchill.
Joey Styles: I see big things in that man‘s future. But right now, let‘s get ready for our first FOREVER M Cup Tournament match, between “The American Dragon“ Bryan Danielson and KENTA!
Match 2: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 1-Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA
The crowd loudly cheers both men, showing respect to each mans‘ ability. While a wrestling match was expected from these two, the match quickly turns into a fight as the two men exchange shoot kicks and chops. Neither man has a clear-cut advantage, and they become stiffer as the match progresses, attempting to wear each other down. Danielson’s tactics seem to have been better, as he dodges a Basaiku KneeKick from KENTA, and quickly locks on the Cattle Mutilation as KENTA hit’s the mat. The pain is too much for KENTA to handle, as he soon taps out.
Winner: Bryan Danielson via Submission at 9:48
The fans applaud the efforts of both men, who shake hands at the conclusion of the match.
Backstage, Chris Hero is sliding on an Emerald elbow pad.
Hero: This! This simple elbow pad, is one of the most important things I‘ve ever received in my life! THIS! This was a gift from Mitsuharu Misawa himself! And tonight, Misawa, I will do your legend proud! First round, I have CM Punk! I‘ve spent hours in the ring with you Punk, but I‘m not the Hero you used to know! Things have changed, Punk! Now, I am that Young Knockout Kid! Now, I concuss with my kicks, and KO with my elbow!
Match 3: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 1-CM Punk vs. Chris Hero
In a match between two legends of independent wrestling in the 2000s, CM Punk and Chris Hero would fight tonight for the honor of Mitsuharu Misawa. Punk had the crowd behind him full force. Hero would help Punk‘s cause by insulting the crowd at every moment he got. Hero‘s athleticism seemed to give him the upper hand at first, but Punk‘s pure wrestling ability would allow him to quickly out-wrestle Hero. Both men came very close to winning at points, with Hero just kicking out of a pin attempt after the Pepsi Plunge, and Punk just making it to the ropes after being locked in the Cravate. After finally getting Punk on wobbly legs, Hero would deliver a sick Mafia kick that knocked Punk backwards into the ropes. As Punk fell against the ropes, his arms became entangled between the top and middle ropes, trapping him, and leaving his head a wide open target for a series a vicious elbows from Hero. The referee had no choice but to call for the bell, with Punk unable to defend himself.
Winner: Chris Hero by TKO at 12:13.
As Hero walks through the curtain backstage, he is met by Bryan Danielson.
Danielson: What the was that Hero?! Hitting a defenseless man? Knocking someone unconscious when they can’t defend themselves? That sh*t wouldn’t happen with me!
Danielson can no longer contain his anger, and begins to violently strike Hero. Hero attempts to fight back, but Danielson over powers him, and soon has him grounded. His traps him in a crucifix, and delivers numerous elbows until blood pours from Hero‘s head.
Match 4: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 1-Samoa Joe vs. Toshiaki Kawada
It isn‘t often someone can go against Joe, and strike harder than he can. But this was the case tonight, as Kawada battled Joe hand-to-hand. In the stiffest contest ever seen in URA history, Joe and Kawada nearly killed each other with various strikes. By the end of the match, both men poured blood from their chests from the chops they received. Joe would eventually get the best of Kawada, hitting him with the Muscle-Buster. When Joe locked on the rear-naked choke, however, he did not pay attention to how he was laying, and inadvertently had both shoulders pinned against the mat. With Kawada on top of him, the referee counted the three. Joe was confused by the bell, and snapped when he heard the decision. He threw the referee over the ropes and began throwing him into the stairs repeatedly. He hit the referee with an Ole Kick, before being tackled to the ground by Arena Security, and led to the back in handcuffs.
Winner: Toshiaki Kawada by Pinfall at 8:56
Match 5: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 1-Go Shiozaki vs. Kenta Kobashi
In a battle of student vs. teacher, Shiozaki and Kobashi battled for the final spot in the second round of the FOREVER M Cup Tournament. The two men went hold-for-hold, and competed in what has been up to this point, the best pure wrestling contest tonight. Each man had an answer for every move the other tried. Once Shiozaki got the upper hand, he climbed the ropes for a moonsault. Unbeknownst to him, Kobashi had reached his feet, and grabbed Shiozaki from behind, carried him out to the center of the ring, and dropped him with the Burning Hammer for the victory.
Winner: Kenta Kobashi via Pinfall at 10:21
With Round 1 of the FOREVER M Cup Tournament finished, this is how Round 2 has panned out:
Bryan Danielson vs. Kenta Kobashi
Toshiaki Kawada vs. Chris Hero
But to give the competitors a break, Kurt Angle will defend his URA Prodigy Championship against Spanky, next!
Match 6: URA Prodigy Championship-Kurt Angle © vs. Spanky
Kurt Angle begins the match by mocking Spanky’s small size. This was a mistake on Angle’s part, as Spanky showed Angle why he shouldn’t be underestimated. Spanky would use his speed to stay in control for a majority of the match, continuously surprising Angle with quick arm drags. Angle finally caught up to Spanky’s speed, when he barely dodged a high cross body. Spanky stumbled to his feet, ribs injured, and stumbled backwards into an Angle Slam.
Winner: Kurt Angle via Pinfall at 6:14
Match 7: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 2-Toshiaki Kawada vs. Chris Hero
Backstage, URA Booker Gabe Sapolsky addressed the crowd.
GS: Due to the actions earlier tonight, Chris Hero will be unable to compete tonight. Thus, Toshiaki Kawada has received an automatic bye into the finals of the FOREVER M Cup Tournament.
Match 8: FOREVER M Cup Tournament Round 2-Bryan Danielson vs. Kenta Kobashi
The two round 1 winners were obviously exhausted after their previous two battles. The winner would advance to the finals, but would they have enough left to ultimately win the FOREVER M Cup, and the URA Heavyweight Championship?
With seemingly superhuman feats of strength and stamina, Danielson and Kobashi left it all in the ring. Danielson, the fresher of the two, used his technical prowess against Kobashi, but he could not overcome his size and experience. Kobashi was able to capitalize on ever little mistake Danielson made. The two men opted not to fight, and instead tried to wear each other down and conserve their energy for the impending match against Toshiaki Kawada. Kobashi would finally connect with the Orange Crush, but Danielson would kick out at the last moment. Kobashi grabbed Danielson for it again, but Danielson slipped out and knocked Kobashi to the outside.
Risking it all, Danielson charged through the ropes with a suicide dive, taking himself out, along with Kobashi. Danielson finally rolled into the ring as the referees count reached 9. Kobashi, however, did not have the energy left, and was still laying on the floor when the referee’s count reached 10.
Winner: Bryan Danielson via Countout at 17:57
Danielson was on his knees, trying to get a moment to breath, when Kawada stormed into the ring and immediately began to connect with stiff spinal taps to Danielson. Kawada would control the tired Danielson throughout the contest. Kawada’s arsenal of kicks nearly knocked Danielson out cold, but Danielson’s Fighting Spirit would not allow him to stay down. Danielson would eventually catch one of Kawada’s kicks, and Danielson hit a dragon screw, prior to locking in a leg grapevine. Kawada’s knee nearly popped out of socket before he finally reached the rope to break the hold. This drew a loud gasp from the live audience, who were sure Danielson had the win secured.
After the grapevine, Kawada would take control again. Kawada grounded Danielson with a Dangerous DDT, but Danielson somehow kicked out. Danielson got his second wind, and set Kawada up for the Top Rope Belly to Back Suplex. Kawada twisted in midair, and landed in a body press across Danielson. The referee began his count, and at 2, Danielson rolled Kawada into a small package, for the 1...2.…3!
The crowd erupted as Danielson celebrated his win. Gabe Sapolsky climbed into the ring, alongside Stan Hansen. In their hands, they held the FOREVER M Cup Trophy, and the URA Heavyweight Championship.
GS: Bryan Danielson, it is our honor here at UnReal Athletics, to crown you the inaugural FOREVER M Cup Winner, and the first URA Heavyweight Champion! Tonight, you have proven to the fans of URA why you are, simply, the Best in the World.
The show goes off the air with Danielson holding the trophy over his head, with the URA Title secure around his waist. Tears fill his eyes as he screams Misawa’s name.
