I've never read a Green Lantern comic, but the Hal Jordon character certainly interests me. I would like to get into this sega and perhaps some others before the Green Lantern movie comes out next Summer. With that said I have no idea on where to start with the Blackest Night series. If any of you comic book experts could point me in which book to get first I would greatly appreciate that. Also If there are any other definitive Green Lantern stories I should look into (origin stories etc...) then that'd also be great.
Thanks!

If you want to read Blackest Night then I would pick up the Blackest Night trade and the Blackest Night: Green Lantern trade, and Blackest Night: Green Lantern Corps. trade and that is pretty much all of Blackest Night you have to read the only thing is make sure you read them in order and not just read one book after another or it won't really make sense.
Another awesome Green Lantern story would be Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps. War and they have trades for both volumes.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say not to read one book after another. Thanks for all of your help already btw.

Well they were all happening at the same time so its like you have to read for example Issue 1 of Blackest Night and then read an issue of Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps. and just repeat that over and over until you finish it.
I'd say try to find the checklist that went with Blackest Night so you know the order to read the issues in.

Okay, so I'm thinking of ordering online. Which graphic novel should I get first? (I can't really navigate through that checklist)

well, blackest night is really the third story of a trilogy, and as joe mentioned it really all begins with rebirth. here's an article to check out, and i think it'll help you figure out where to go: comics.ign.com/articles/100/1002574p3.html if you got any questions after that, feel free.

The last several times I went ahead and bought all the non-main arc trades for a story, I was really burned. I think I am going to just buy the Blackest Night trade, and be done with it. I don't really want to spend $100 just on blackest night.
