In the first ever regular season game at the New Meadowlands stadium, the New York Giants defended their honor, and defeated the Carolina Panthers 28-14.

On a rainy day in East Rutherford, expectations were high for the Giants as they opened the $1.7 billion dollar stadium against the Carolina Panthers, who blew the Giants out last season in their final game at Giants Stadium.

"Of course you're going to hold a grudge. They kicked our ass last season, and we wanted to get back at them" said defensive end Justin Tuck, who recorded 4 tackles in the game. "It was a matter of honor". The Giants defense was stalwart through the first 3 quarters, holding Carolina to 0 points. The Panthers high octane running game was kept in check at 89 yards. The Panthers managed to score 14 points on 2 TD's from Matt Moore to Brandon LaFell and Deangelo Williams.

The Giants offense regained it's identity as a power running team, bulldozing the Panthers defense for 162 yards on the ground, with touchdowns from both Brandon Jacobs, whose score was from 66 yards out, and Ahmad Bradshaw. Quarterback Eli Manning threw for over 200 yards while maintaining a 66% completion rate; solid for the poor conditions.

The Giants travel to Indianapolis next week to meet up with the Colts in the second ever Manning Bowl.

In the second ever Manning Bowl, the younger Manning evened the series at 1 win a piece. "I approached it like any other game. It didn't matter that I was playing Peyton, we just wanted to win the game". And Eli did just that, tossing 2 touchdown passes and 226 yards. Eli also had some help from running backs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw, who accounted for 165 yards on the ground on 24 carries between the two.

The Giants defense was attacked by the Colts offensive attack, and gave up 417 yards. One stat that concerns Perry Fewell, the Giants defensive coordinator, is the sackless effort through two games. While the Giants pressured Peyton Manning, especially in the fourth quarter, they were never able to sack him. Another concern for the Giants is their run defense, as Joseph Addai rushed for 146 yards. However, he had two runs of more than 60 yards, after breaking tackles from Giants linebacker Michael Boley and safety Antrel Rolle.

It didn't matter, as Giants kick returner Domenik Hixon took a kick to the house, which put Big Blue on top in the 4th quarter, and they never looked back, winning 41-28. Next week, the Giants take on another AFC South team when they face the Tennessee Titans at the New Meadowlands Stadium at 1 PM on CBS.
