Mattel has actually blamed some of DCUC's woes on Chinese New Year, so I'd be careful getting too cocky about that. I don't follow all the Jakks debacles, but when stuff happens in China, it can indeed have a huge effect on the toy business. Likely in the aforementioned instnace, Chinese New Year put them behind which led to them using parts they wouldn't normally. Well, I've yet to see Mattel up their figures as much as Jakks because of Chinese New Year.

Jakks has aged China by a century at this point.

Ohhhh wait I think I get it now. They were saying that since it was the new year in China, that they didn't have people to make new parts. So they just threw old TTL arms on them. But as stated previously, why would the Rey/Teddy set not have those arms? When the set came out over here, which was months after it's release, I asked for all 3 packs for Christmas that year. I got two of them. Rey/Teddy, which was my favorite gift that year, and La Resistance. I was totally pissed when La Resistance had those janky arms!!

Paul Bearer's short bowtie, One Man Gang not coming with the needed vest, and Kamala's tiny skirt and tape covered arms and legs were also attributed to Chinese New Year

They were suppose to make a running change to the AD13 b/c the prototype had TTL arms but they were unable to b/c of the "chinese new year " they weren't working or some crap. Jakks would make up so much stuff to get themselves outa trouble but it never worked.

I wouldve bought that La Resistance set if Jakks had done it right. Along with the CSTT Strike Force where they were wearing a jacket/shirt, that is 2 tag teams I really wanted and ended up not buying

Have no idea how the "Chinese New Year Syndrome" could actually make an toy assembler in their China factory attach TTL arms to an RA figure. Obviously they just wanted to get rid of the excess TTL arms they have in stock. Had to buy a Hillbilly Jim figure and so a head swap to get the right Luther. Chinese New Year is a week-long holiday in China so that is Jakks' excuse ( or joke ) maybe.

The La Resistance thing still angers me, because I was a huge fan of that team of Conway and Grenier. And I saw the figures in Walmart and I saw the arms and I was just pi$$ed right off at that. So I didn't buy them. Looking back now, I probably should have and kept the figures MOC since I collect MOC figures now, but back in 2004 I was all about playing with them for fun.
Was it Chinese New Year when they chose to cut half the guys out of the Classic Series 28 line that were meant to be released too then??

Just another item of note. These TTL arms were the ones WITHOUT the elbow joints. If nothing else, they could have used the ones with the elbow joints, but that's still a longshot bs excuse. The ONLY thing that I can believe is that Chinese New Year prevented the sweatshop workers from working, so they had to bus in fourteen untrained monkeys to attach the arms out of gigantic barrels filled with various wrestling figure arms, most of which would still have to be jointless TTL arms. It would explain the garbage that AD13 turned out to be. Nevertheless, the lies about the running change hurt the credibility of that very believeable story, so I am sticking with the "they just didn't give a f#ck" explanation.

Yeah.. I never got why the TTL arms were the original style ones and not the double jointed ones on those figures?
I also had to buy a Hillbilly Jim and headswap with Luther Reigns. Jakks did promise us a running change that we still never got. Half tempted to say we should all call Jakks (maybe even Jeremy) and ask them when we're going to get the running change they promised!
I love the Jakks figures I've got.. and I love the new RI stuff they've got up as protos.... I even caved in and bought Jarrett, Sting, and Suicide in DI style... but where are the RI TNA figs? Where are the Cross the Line figures? What's up with my preorder for LOTR 1 Sting? It's really stupid for Jakks to keep it's few remaining loyal customers in the dark while Mattel is doing everything they can to step it up.... UNLESS...
Unless Jakks actually wants to lose all of us. I'm not even being sarcastic or joking, I'm dead serious. Maybe Jakks thinks that cutting all the collectors loose will make the job they do easier, and seeing as how they probably don't wanna put the time and resources into the TNA line, maybe they've just decided to target the figures solely towards kids and impulse buyers. Those people likely won't complain about scale, lack of accessories, missing details, and re-releases. So maybe they're just trying to re-focus the TNA line, and alienating the collectors is the first step in that.
If they aren't doing it on purpose.. then somebody at JAKKS HQ needs to be fired, stat. This is a down economy, I'm sure you can find people who aren't inept to do whatever job it is that someone at Jakks Pacific is spectacularly failing at...
