The past two months or so I've started playing lotto and probably have lost around $50-$75 with a few winners here and there on sratch-offs. The past two nights I've gotten pretty bad. I played $25 on Sunday and $13 today. Those were days where I felt like having fun. I'm starting to realize though, it's a bad habit. I never have luck with scratch-offs and the pick 3 and 4 are a waste. I told myself from this day forward, I'm going to get the lotto out of my mind all together. I lost money and there's no good chance of getting it back, so I'll quit while I'm not in the negative of more than $100.
So yeah, for those who play, have you ever won big or anything? I won't be playing anymore, so let me hear some stories or something.

No, I definitely don't play. I've been given the scratch off things as gifts in the past, and never won more than $1.
I'd honestly rather take $20 and go play Blackjack at a casino or something. At least then I'd feel SOME form of control over winning. The scratch cards are just pure luck, and something you'd be better off messing with once a month for the hell of it. Maybe set aside all your loose change throughout the month, and then put it towards a few cards or something.

My grandpa does it all the time, If I had lots of extra money where I knew I could buy some tickets and then still have some extra money, I'd do it. But it most of the time just seems like a huge waist.

I'll play $2 a week, for fun. I obviously never win, but it's that or a coke, so it's screw it, y'know?

If I may quote the devil himself...
"You know, I got to say, this is one of my greatest inventions...State-sponsored gambling. Minimum wage earners spending their last buck on an 18 million to one long shot. I like to call it the idiot's tax."

I get about 5 scratch-offs from my dad, each year for Christmas. Each year, it's nothing more than $10-15. This past Christmas though, I pulled out $575 on 3 cards. One in itself, was $500.
As for the lottery, not a chance. I have entirely too many hobbies (wrestling, movies, concerts, etc.) to put anything towards the lottery and take that BIG chance of losing it all.

It's such a waste of money. I saw one person a week ago win $200, and then immediately spend all of her winnings on more lottery cards.

My friend's next door neighbor won the lottery-- 99 million split amongst 3 winners. They moved to a nicer bigger house but the dad eventually ran off with the money. Now they're back living in the same house as they started.

I used to play the scratch offs when I first turned 18 but soon realized I lost more than I ever won. I think my biggest win was like $50. I haven't bought a lotto ticket in years.

Not a chance. It's a tax on poor people and ought to be illegal. It's not because it makes money for the state. Strangely enough you don't see high sales of lottery tickets in rich areas of town. And please don't argue that rich people don't want the money. That's ludicrous. Someone who makes $200k a year will take $10 mil just a quick as someone who makes $20k a yr yet the person making $200k doesn't play the lottery.

Should they be outlawed too? It's just like any other vice. If people are stupid enough to do it, they reek the consequences.
