So I've just seen a thread about the lack of Stables in the WWE, and it got me thinking about an issue that for me needs sorting out - the lack of real, genuine Managers.
Currently in the WWE the Nexus is the only Stable. As they want Nexus to be the most dominant Group in the WWE, having another Stable wouldn't make sense.
Personally I think what's more important is to bring back real Managers. The last real Manager we had was Armando Estrada with Umaga. Now all we get is Women supporting a Male Superstar. What's happened to the Paul Heyman type that push there Superstar through the moon, help him win Matches and get him over as a Character. They just don't exist anymore, and by giving a certain few people Managers it could really help there Character.
What about Cody Rhodes, he could have a Manager that kind of plays off of his Dashing Gimmick, and instead is a scruffy looking Manager who every week would kind of counter-act Cody yet still be his Manager? Possibly Kofi Kingston, he could have a real Jamaican/Ghanaian Old Man Manager, who would be really useful in Promos and at Ringside. Jack Swagger for example, could have a genuine Sports Coach as a Manager, who talks to him and trains him like a typical strict High School Coach?
These are just possibilities, but I think as of now Managers are a lot more important than random put-together Stables that have no longevity anyway.
What do you think?

It's a lost art, we haven't seen a manager who isn't a diva or anything for years. Last time was Flair with Triple H. So many possibilities it's amazing and sad that the WWE doesn't do anything, especially tag team wrestling, managers and stables. Look how interesting RAW has gotten since the Nexus arrived.

I for one am happy that Paul Bearer is back, so that's one.

I for one am happy that Paul Bearer is back, so that's one. But Paul Bearer has really only been brought back to help enhance a Fued. It's nothing we haven't seen before, despite how happy we all are to see him back.

Well I'm hoping that since William Regal signed a contract extension, yet claims he's retiring, that maybe he'll become a manager. And honestly, he would be outstanding in that role.
Even Finlay isn't really doing much these days. I could see him as more of a hard ass manager/trainer, who wakes his guys up at 4:30 in the morning to train. Plus he could use his shillelagh to help his guys wins.
I also would like to see WWE bring back some older legendary stars to come in as managers. Guys like Piper, Anderson, & Dibiase SR could all be great as a manager.

Once Nexus is over make Skip Sheffield & Ezekiel Jackson a tag team with Abraham Washington as manager.

Isn't Del Rio's announcer Richardo kind of a manager. Sure not in the traditional sense where he cuts promos for Del Rio but he does get involved with Del Rio's matches.

The manager element is sorely missed. Not everyone is a capable vocalizer and not everyone exudes a ton of personality. Managers can help generate heat and mold a characters personality. Also, the return of heel trix is a must, the majority of matches end cleanly now, but all that does is illustrate one wrestler's dominance over another and that makes it difficult for a wrestler to maintain his status after the loss. With heel trix they are still equals and the heels(if they still exist) are able to generate a ton of heat for cheating.

I miss it whenever managers grew to have stables of their own, like Camp Corrnette or The Heenan family. Or even when wrestlers would scout for managers or vice versa. It seems like they only bring back that formula where they know they'll truly need it, i.e. Umaga and Brock.

You know who was on the path to being awesome as a manager? Matt Striker. He was a great mouthpiece for Big Daddy V. I still think he'd be a great mouthpiece.

Unfortunately the art of the manager is almost dead in the WWE, however if you look elsewhere there are still guys who are talented in the managerial role. ROH's Truth Martini, the current manager of ROH World Champion Roderick Strong, comes to mind as someone who just oozes old school heel manager.

I guess it somewhat forces the wrestlers to be a complete package?

oh how i long for the days of managers like bobby heenan, jim cornette, slick, and mr fuji. they were great for guys that needed a bit of direction or help on the mic. guys i could see being helped out by a manager r ezekiel jackson, alberto del rio (doesnt need help with direction or mic work but i think his character calls for a servant type of manager), chris masters, chavo (could be part of a group led by a manager), and some other mid card guys

At a show up here, there was this great manager. He was this overweight guy with a beard, buzz cut black hair and a Hawaiian shirt. He managed the cruiserweight champion, who weighed more than 300 pounds. He had a towel and every so often, he'd wipe the sweat off his guy while the opponent was down. The champ really played the out of shape athlete part really well. The manager interacted with the fans and everything and he was pretty good on the mic. If the WWE were to every look at this little dog and pony show, they'd find him and see that he is great at getting heel heat and they could bring him in. I think he could work quite well.
