Not to go all rkokixas here or anything but I was fairly happy when Orton took the title at Night of Champions seeing as how he's the most over guy on the roster and Sheamus wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. But since then he's continued his dull feud with Sheamus, only had about a week's worth of a program with Jericho, and now he's the third man in the Cena/Barrett feud. I think to some extent all top guys need to be 'fed' some guys in order to make them look legit. I guess part of the problem is the lack of heel depth on RAW. They've already beaten Orton vs. Sheamus to death and Barrett is the top heel now. and Punk is injured. Ted DiBiase would have been great to elevate here given their past but he has no heat. It's too bad Cody is on SmackDown in this instance because he would be perfect to get his feet wet in main events against Orton. I dunno, it seems likely that Barrett will take the title at Survivor Series and I'd be more than okay with that, but I just feel WWE hasn't given babyface champion Orton a real chance.

Ever since he won the title, the crowd has been fading. They were hyped up so much and then he finally won the title and that's as far as he goes. He's not the best wrestler and he certainly isn't the best guy on the mic. I think people wanted an anti-Cena and Randy fit that role, but then they got it, they decided they didn't like it.

Considering how strongly he was put across in the lead up to getting the belt, I'm glad he's taken a backseat of sorts. He's still the most consistently over face on Raw and I'm sure it'll stay like that for a while, but Cena/Barrett takes precedence at the moment.

Agreed. As hot as Orton was, the failed to capitalize on his momentum. Giving him the belt was absolutely the right move, but he seems like the third wheel in this Wade Barrett/John Cena feud. And yes, it is tough when they don't have a top heel for him to contend with. Barrett is the top heel on Raw right now, but he's wrapped up with John Cena. Kane vs. Orton certainly wouldn't light the world on fire, either. But man, they should have give him his own personal feud after he won the belt.

They really need to turn the screw against Orton and have him come out fighting but losing against Nexus & a fresh heel Cena - I would try and eek out 'the' heel turn until next month to make more of an impact as now everyone is either expecting it, hoping for it or going 180 with expectations of Orton turning heel which would be awful. It would go some way to recover his momentum.
Also try and inject some more personality into the guy, street clothes has a way of doing this - see Del Rio, JBL, hell that one time Sheamus was on the AW show - gives superstars an identity instead of one of the bunch. Seeing Orton in shirt of the month and trunks all the time is boring.

I forgot Orton was even the champion, the only reason I occasionally remember is because he makes those 5 minute appearances usually near the end of the show.
The show now is much more Cena based, while Orton is pushed to the way side.
This isn't Barrett vs Orton at the PPV
It's Cena, and what will happen to him, that is pushing the PPV. I doubt many care much of what happens to Orton.

His character is ing ****. He needs to stop worrying about being the cool Tweener, and start becoming the heel he built his career off off. He's a ing idiot. He built his career off of being a cocky, arrogant, concieted heel, and now he's a ing snake. You cant just spend years of your life making a name as "this" type of heel, just to become "that" type of heel right when you become a top guy. It just pisses me off to the point how much of a waste he's become to me. I hated Orton for a longgg time before 2008. That was because he was a good heel. Then I started liking him. Now I hate him because his character is crap, and I dont want to see him on my television screen. I want to like the guy, but to me he looks like an idiot every time he goes out there, bald, orange, starts spazzing out, and pounces on people. Wtf is that? Dear Orton: You will never be Stone Cold. Stop acting like him and move on to the next gimmick.

I think they should do more with him but they are so focused in this pretty boring Nexus/Cena storyline that he is not the main priority.
I hope Orton can retain though since Wade as champ would not be great imo..

I know colored tights and Mercy Drive theme would totally contradict and condescend his current character in just about every way possible, but dammit I want some 2003 Orton nostalgia.

It seems like its all Cena and Nexus. It really does feel like Orton is the third man. I really do prefer heel Orton, but a face Orton is better than any Barrett.

WWE is wasting a lot of talent actually. And putting over tons of crappy "wrestlers" aka Nexus Usually I try not to be so pessimistic, but it really seems like this. I get it, Nexus is a cool, fresh, original idea (more or less). But there's basically no good mid-card feuds going on. Goldust vs. DiBiase is the only mid-card feud that I can think of off the top of my head on Raw, and it's not as good as it could be because DiBiase is bland as hell. They're oversaturating the show with Nexus. And on top of that, there's STILL no reason as to why they're there. They've talked about how they have a greater purpose when they beat up Vince. I'd be fine if they just were tired of being disrespected on NXT and wanted to be Champions, but the fact that they SAID they had a greater purpose that they couldn't yet reveal bothers the hell out of me. Not to mention it's walking a fine line of being like the nWo when people just went in and out. Hennig (I only say that name because I hate spelling his gimmick name) and Husky had potential of being interesting characters, and now they're just cannon fodder in Nexus. I understand they probably wanted to beef up the group since Tarver and Skip got injured, but they're not even trying with the characters anymore. There's no given reason as to why they're in the group. Less is more. The less Nexus I see on screen during Raw, the more I'm going to care when they are on screen. And hopefully they can build up mid-card feuds. I want Daniel Bryan feuding with CM Punk or William Regal, I don't care who. But the man is built for feuds. Who knows what Miz is doing, but give him a good feud. OH, I just remembered Morrison and Sheamus feuding. Definite step in the right direction. kdone.

I was just thinking this the other day. Orton isn't doing anything exciting with his reign. And WWE seems hell bent to make the whole show around Cena's decision.
So yes, I agree WWE is wasting Orton right now.

i agree that orton is kind of being wasted right now. he has no competition. cena and barrett are doing their thing. wwe had to separate orton and sheamus for a while. and jericho is on a hiatus of sorts. now would be the perfect time for wwe to start really pushing some of the younger stars like the miz or ted dibiase. i think miz is ready and ted dibiase may not be ready for the title yet but he sure could have an interesting feud with orton over the title and lose in the end. is cm punk hurt or not? i read that he was hurt then i read that he said he wasnt hurt but then i didnt see him on raw last week so im all confused.

Yes they are, but if you think about after WrestleMania until Night of Champions...the guy was red hot. It was cool seeing this guy act like a face now after being so despicable...but for some reason, once he got to the top it sucked.
I think part of it has to do with Cena. John Cena is clearly the number 1 guy...and a lot of times, they'll pair him up with Cena just for the hell of it. It just really shows the pecking order, and when Orton's around Cena he acts too much like a face and not a tweener...He looses his cool factor.
Well I think he lost his cool factor once he became champion. He became champion too early into his face run. I mean he won the damn thing at Night of Champions. If you ask me if he stayed red hot he could've won it at Survivor Series...now it's guaranteed he'll be losing it at Survivor Series.
It's just one thing I can't put my finger on...

I too feel that Orton has been somewhat lost in the shuffle with the focus of Raw being Cena/Nexus.

Orton has been bland to me since the summer. I could care less about who walks out of Survivor Series as champ as long as Orton gets himself a dash of charisma.
