I don't know if any of you guys know or care, but you were bidding to hold the 2022 World Cup. You lost. To Qatar. We lost to Russia for 2018, and frankly both cases are a joke. FIFA pick the 2 most unstable, dangerous choices because they "want to bring football to new people"... In order to fill all it's stadiums Qatar would have to make 50% of its 1.5 million population go to games. ing clowns. D'you guys understand or even care?

I'm afraid FIFA have taken a bribe, for both votes.
Qatar with NO football experience gets picked to host THE biggest Football competition in the world...they happen to be one of the richest countries in the world.

The choices DO seem odd. I was at least hopind the US would get it for the revenue it would bring.
I'm not a big soccer fan, but I do usually watch the World Cup out of interest, and hope that the US will perform well. I understand wanting to spread the sport to the world, but it seems an odd choice.

As far as I know, it's an oil driven country that reaches upwards of 120 degrees Farenheit in the summertime frequently.

One of my friends made a good point about this: Why would they bring the World Cup to the US when we don't even call the sport by the proper name?

Money talks. Money is the only reason they're hosting.

Money talks. Money is the only reason they're hosting. I agree. This sport is never going to get big in this country unless they do something drastic & host a WC. Even then, who knows how well it would help. But back on topic, I hope those players enjoy playing in 130 degree weather.

I still don't think bringing one here would bring in a lot of interest to the sport.

It is slowly gaining in popularity here, but a lot of that has to do with the large increase in hispanic people in the country, as well as other immigrants. It will take a long time, but eventually it will be bigger.

FIFA has to be one of the most corrupt sporting bodies on the planet. Although Qatar's bid video was fantastic: But, up to 50 degrees celsius outside and 30 degrees celsius on the field. F@#k that. There is going to be a whole heap of players pulling out of this World Cup and it's really going to lack star power. Australia was lucky to even get one vote with this heap of s#*t: Our failed bid campaign reportedly cost AU$45 million. What a joke! Little wonder stereotypes of our country prevail.

I think that just adds to that reasoning that they wont focus on bringing one back here for a long time. They were just here in the 90s & soccer faded pretty quickly

I dont think most Americans care honestly. I know there were plans to use Neyland Stadium as one of the places of the US got the bid. Would I have gone? Sure, I mean how many people can say they went to a World Cup game but honestly, I could care less. Soccer will always been the little brother sport here behind football, baseball, basketball and for the most part Hockey
