I don't make anyone feel stupid. If I have, I apologize. It's just that people come on here and speak AS IF they knew what they were talking about, and when me or someone else corrects them, we're labeled and "elitist" or an "ass-hole". It's all about how they're corrected though. This isn't directly at you in particular, but if the shoe fits.... I don't remember who it was, but I once got some info wrong durring a discussion about a certain fighter. In stead of simply being corrected, I was hit with the whole "If you're a fan of the sport like you say, you would know your stuff". Like I said, I don't remember who that was with, but I was fairly new to the sport and posting on this board at the time (a long time ago). How am I encouraged to keep posting here if I'm treated like that.

Exactly, there's obviously going to be new people to the sport and they have as much right to discuss mma as those who've been watching or fighting for years. Sure they aren't going to be as informed about mma as the one's who've been discussing it for years, but that's no reason to say "you don't know what your talking about" and trash them for not getting it right. Don't try and make them look stupid and act tough in front of everyone, try and help them learn more.
A perfect example of it was on the last page where the guy made a mistake between Light Heavyweight and Lightweight and you responded with "get real dude there's no way he could make Light Heavyweight" for whatever reason you did it I don't know I think it was to try and make you look cool and make him look like even more of a fool. Obiviously he couldn't, I mean an idiot could've surmised that he meant lightweight but rather than just correct him you tried to make it out as if he had no clue what he was talking about. I saw something a couple of years ago when I was posting full time and the person mixed up light and light heavy, I didn't treat him like a moron and just made a joke about confusion.

Well, the whole LW and LHW thing is pretty silly. Not sure if it was a typo or whatever, but even people with moderate knowledge of the sport knows the 5 popular weight classes.

Yeah if I said something that hurt someone I'm sorry, I do get really annoyed by people who come in and make ignorant comments and don't use common sense but its so easy to do your research or if your unsure double check and learn from it because there are thousands of MMA sites you could use for that. You also have to remember it's the internet, you can only read what they wrote you can't tell tone or see facial expressions so sometimes it does come off wrong. Like I said I'm sorry if I hurt someone, I really don't mean to. Part of the reason I like this forum is because it has that "family" feel to it where everyone knows everyone unlike Sherdog, UG or other big MMA forums.

Btw, I'm in no way defending the guys who come in here and try to put guys like Lesnar and Slice over to be the second coming of Christ, and think that Lesnar wouldn't wanna **** with The Undertaker in a real fight. Now those guys, those guys are the real idiots. A far cry from innocent fans with little knowlege.

Well, the whole LW and LHW thing is pretty silly. Not sure if it was a typo or whatever, but even people with moderate knowledge of the sport knows the 5 popular weight classes. It's a more common than you'd expect, I've seen it done a few times between the 2 where the person meant lightweight instead of light heavyweight or vice versa. I guess the mind just kind of slips somewhere between the start of light and the end of weight. I'm sure you knew what he meant and knew it was just a typo. It doesn't mean he doesn't have a basic understanding of weight classes and thinks Aldo's going to jump 4 weight classes. Don't treat him like an idiot and post things like get real and "lightheavyweight = 205" I mean no crap, the problem was he doesn't really understanding the concept of cutting and shifting weight classes, not that he's unknowledgable about weight classes. But that's enough of this, you all seem mature enough about this and understand that sometimes how you word things come off as dickish even though you probably didn't mean it.

It's just how I am. I'm not here to act all "tough" on a message board. If I had these things come up in REAL conversation (and believe me, I have had similar encounters), I'd react the same way. The things he was saying about cutting weight is totally untrue, because I myself, and other professional fighters I know (Ricardo Almeida, Frankie Edgar, Renzo Gracie) know how brutal it can be on your state of mind and body. It isn't "easy" to cut 20lbs just like that.

so you mock and laugh, openly, at people you're conversing with in public?
do i need to point out what's wrong there? serious etiquette issues. you're disrespecting people you're talking to, rather you're intending to or not, and that is up to you to recognize. as others and myself have said, if he was completely incorrect, simply inform him. don't HAH!
honestly, it's not that hard to understand. you're using attacking argument conversation devices for someone who is just ill informed. and i don't believe that's 'how you are', because you're not speaking in that manner now. i'm not trying to keep this going, but don't shy away from the point. it is still relevant.

It would be interesting if you saw me with people with similar things to say.
And I don't "mock" or "laugh". Saying "Hah" doesn't really mean I am trying to poke fun at you. The internet isn't that serious where you have to take "hah" as someone really laughing out loud. It's a set-up word to setup the point.
Yes, its very disrespectful, and I already apologized. So why is this going on and on when we're going around in circles?

not too sure what you're implying...but i don't really care how you are in your outside life. just attempt civility, i'm not asking much.
*edit: and the reason this is 'going around' is because in your 3:12 am post you claim that this behavior we've pointed out is 'how you are'...basically insinuating that it will continue. that would make this whole conversation null and void which would just be aggravating. i'm sure you get the point by now though, so if you are, i'm done too.

I will say this....
It's almost surreal to see such a tame, mature debate between two people, about arguing none-the-less, on an MMA forum(well part MMA forum at least)
If this were Sherdog, you'd be calling each other queers and p***ys, talking about how you're undefeated PRIDE fighters and can kick each others asses.
So well done, gentleman.

James can be a handful at times, but he's not some ball busting monster. If you call him out on being a dick, he'll almost always acknowledge it, shrug it off, and carry on.
People around here want to be way too nice over things that shouldn't be taken to heart in the first place. Far more childish things take place on other parts of the board anyhow. The way I see it is this. If the MMA section was dominated by uneducated fans, the core group here would be told to leave if they didn't like it. Well it's the other way around in this case. However, the only people that should leave are those who aren't ready for a bit of debate if they post something with authority.
I think we have a good balance of friendliness and tough criticism here. None of us are flexing e-muscles, or acting like neanderthals over disagreements. Nor are we cursing people out, or hitting the "report to mod" button when we disagree with someone. If you dislike the way people are over here, feel free to only browse. But if you can be mature, not get butt hurt over any little thing, and back up your claims in some way? By all means join the party.

Well, the whole LW and LHW thing is pretty silly. Not sure if it was a typo or whatever, but even people with moderate knowledge of the sport knows the 5 popular weight classes. it clearly was a typo. i clearly said "laugh at me for this", it wasn't meant to be taken serious. it's a dream fight for me, i know it's not gonna happen. lol. time to get off your high horse, dude. i get it, you're knowledgeable.

james is cool with me....don't really understand how this turned into an arguement... it was more a conversation than an argument. and what ignited it was james' choice of words. i've always enjoyed james' posts, i wasn't trying to solely single him out.
