When making customs, I usually rushed, this time I took my time with it and made a TNA 2005 version of Samoa Joe! (NOTE: I TOOK THESE PICS WHILE EVERYTHING WAS STILL DRYING) Before: After: ADVICE/TIPS WILL BE HEAVILY APPRECIATED AND TAKEN UNDER CONSIDERATION

Looks okay but i don't get what the point of painting the upper torso was...try being more patient with painting and invest in better paints if your really dedicated to customizing and as for the post above...can you be any more negative? give him a break and actually give him tips if you hate it that much. anyways good job!

Bro, try going slower. Also add some water to your paint, it looks thick. You can prime the fig with gray or white and then do a skin tone, so it looks cleaner. Ur color also could use some yellow n red, coz it looks more gray that the original skin tone. Not too much tho.

Now I mixed white and painted over it but i most likely will do what you said

Skintones are tricky. Especially for those just starting out customizing, not the starting point I would have chosen but I definitely commend your spirit! Doesn't look horrible, your skintone actually is pretty smooth in parts but the tone is off and chunky in other parts.
In regards to the chunkiness, watering down your paint is one way to prevent this. I find that laying down several very thin coats of paint instead of one or two thick coats usually creates a smooth finish. Additionally, once you have a pretty solid foundation you want to start watering down your paint further for the next coats, that way the watered-down paint will seep into the brush strokes and create a smooth finish.
In regards to the skintone, I would abstain from using black to darken skintones. It makes sense in theory, but it's far too "harsh" even in small amounts. Use white to lighten and brown to darken. I've used several "fleshtone" paints from different companies and I find that none of them capture fleshtone that well, much too red/pink. I suggest grabbing a tube of "Caramel Candy" paint by Apple Barrel, as it already has all the colors that make a good skintone. (white, yellow, and brown) You can even mix in some of that fleshtone paint to give it a subtle red/pink tint, but usually I just add a little more white paint to the Caramel Candy base and it matches Jakks skintone well.
Keep on working at it! Skintones are difficult, but you're trying and that's what matters!

I at first was trying to match the legs with the torso but it did not become successful so I decided to just come up with a fresh torso. I want to really nail it because I would love to make plenty of more customs in the future and want to nail this before I begin any others.

Don't use black to darken your skintone. Practice mixing primary colors n use alil white for opacity. White n red will make a pink. Then add alittle yellow to get a peach. Then you add a little blue to tone it down. If you need it to look more brown, use some red n yellow. Remember to add in little amounts. Look up a color wheel pic on google. It will help too.

It was alright but the paint was sloppy and looked rushed a little. Buy paint that isnt lumpy! And dont use acrylic.
