I remember seeing news about a New Japan line last year but nothing new since. I also remember hearing that it would be a special deal with indivisual wrestlers and that the first fig would be a Hulk Hogan. I just want my Liger

If LotR dies, then I'm guessing the deal with NJPW would too. Which would totally suck.

You're only going to get TNA stars (currently under contract) in the Legends line. If its a NJPW star then the only things you're going to get is stuff like the Hogan or Angle unless TNA signs some major NJPW stars.

Jakks is wanting to spend at little money as possible on TNA it seems.
Because of that, I don't think they will shell out extra money to sign individual wrestlers. Now, if the wrestler performed in TNA at one point then they might get a figure but sorta doubt it.
They really don't seem to be trying with this line. LotR was going to be great but they didn't want to make the effort for fear of the figures not selling. So now we get 1 legend per every DI set.
Which means 1 set of 6 figures every 2 months or so now becomes 1 full set over the course of 12 months packaged with the other figures as 1 per case or whatever.
EDIT: And to be entirely fair to Jakks, in LotR-1 both the Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle figures were in their NJPW attires. So they didn't lie.

I reall hope Jakks decides to make some Japanese and ECW guys. Of course we're getting Raven, but will we ever get Douglas? And I want a Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask, and Masato Tanaka, as well.

It would be ridiculous to expect Jakks to release Japanese-scene guys at mainstream retail. If they can't even get retailers to order American legends figures from them, there's no chance of them selling NJPW figures that 95% of American wrestling fans haven't heard of.

I hope they release the Great Muta. If they will make only one, let it be him.

Mutoh does indeed own the gimmick, so Jakks would need to cut a deal with him to release a figure of him

I'm still shocked how Jakks said that LotR sold horribly. Comeon,I bet you WWE Legends 2 Pack sold way worse and Mattel are making a second series.

Look at all of the WWE Legends that were made that wrestled way before some of the people on this board were even born yet. I'm sure that some people had never even seen Johnny Rodz or Jack Briscoe wrestle before, but they still bought the figure. Besides, thanks to youtube, You can watch matches from pretty much every wrestler in the world now. So collectors can familiarize themselves with the wrestler before a figure comes out.

I was just at TRU last week and the had tons of the new Mattel Lgends line, but the only TNA figure of any kind was a Hernandez! There were no LOTR to be found at all!

I also think guys like Lyger and Tiger Mask would appeal to kids on the cool factor alone
