Haven't been around the forums in ages and thought I would ask this question. Sorry if it was discussed before.
I personally miss the JAKKS line. The head sculpts of Mattel are horrible! They look nothing like the wrestlers. I was so hyped for the Macho figure, but the head scan is just crap! Though I do like the accessories that Mattel does far more. Good shirt disigns.
Thoughts?

I prefer Mattel. I like the way the bodies are and how they are to scale and not ballooned.

I like Mattel and Jakks , the headscans on mattel arent the best but they do add alot more detail to their figures. Jakks headscans were good but they constanstly misuse certain parts on the figs and they definately skip out on alot of detail. But I do however like both.

The Mattel figures are obviously infinitely better. The only reason anyone would pretend to think otherwise is if they're too tied to their Jakks collection and they don't want to start a new one.
Jakks was much better at quality control, though.

I like Mattel better. The figs are lighter which makes it easier to animate. Also i freakin love the accesories, which are very nice. Jakks were good, but the figs were to heavy and the leg joints of the DAs sucked. I'm very happy that it's now the age Mattel!

Mattel are so much better. And the only reason anybody would even like Jakks figures is because they already have a huge collection. Mattel have great scans 90% of the time, and the ones that aren't great are made up by the accurate bodies and details. The great scans that Jakks DO have are badly painted... and until Jakks make some new realistic body molds, their figures will always suck. Seriously, Jeff Hardy looking like Rob Terry is ridiculous. No excuse for that. And don't get me started on those "snowboots" that they ruin every figure with.

Jakks had the headscan advantage, but, IMO, Mattel is quickly catching up in that field... Some of their headscans are becoming terrific. Their scale, detail and molds are way better too. I like Jakks, but at this point, I think Mattel blows them out of the water... Really no comparison anymore. That being said, I still love my BCA, RA, and Micro collections.

Mattel is way better, IMO. When I started collecting Micro Aggressions, I was tempted to start getting Jakks figures too but I'm glad I chose to wait for the Mattel figures instead. The scale, details, rings, and accessories look better and far more realistic.
I'll give Jakks their due, though: Their figures are a bit better in terms of playability. The joints on my DI Hogan, Sting, Suicide, and Velvet Sky all feel smoother than most of my Mattels. Also, I still prefer the Micro Aggressions over the Rumblers.

They both have pros and cons. However Mattel had years to study Jakks' line and learn what to do and what not to do. In that sense, they obviously have the leg up. Everything Mattel has done, is basically a copy of what Jakks did right. Mattel took all of Jakks ideas and implemented them better.
Of course Jakks was learning on the fly and often couldn't change everything to make things better (IE: Deluxe Aggression being a different scale) so Mattel wins in that sense. They learned, took good notes and in many cases are just doing things smarter.
That said, it's popular to dismiss Jakks now, but the amount of figures, characters, accessories and such that they gave to fans during their run with the WWE license is really out of this world. They set the stage and Mattel picked up where they left off one step ahead.
The real test will be for Mattel in a few years to see where they've come from where they started.

I have a massive Jakks collection(RA/CS) but since they went with deluxe figures I haven't bought a single TNA. I don't like the deluxe style when they started it with WWE and still don't. I didn't think I'd buy any Mattel figs but I couldn't resist, I just buy whoever I like or looks great. The Elite figs are my favorite line from Mattel with the accessories they come with.

I bought 3 Jakks TNA figures. Biggest mistake I ever made. I wanted the new TNA characters that had never been released, but damn it if Jakks didn't screw it up. If they were RA-Styled, then I could most likely tolerate the slight size difference, but the figures are extremely different sizes! And the joints are way to loose and the new TNA DA figures. I can't put up with that, at all! So I've decided to stick to Mattel, and the occasional find on the Classifieds or eBay of a good RA I never got. -

(IE: Deluxe Aggression being a different scale) I don't understand why that bothered people. If someone's collecting Jakks figures, surely they don't care about scale in the first place.
