The last line seemed a bit unnecessary, but the rest was pretty hilarious.

Not usually a fan of his but he absolutely killed. It was hysterical. If I had to guess, Depp was the one most butthurt over the comments. Carell & Gervais are great at that back to back thing. You'd really believe they were pissed at each other. I doubt Depp cared.

How can he be banned for that. It's typical English Humour. Just because they'd probably rather have someone just stand there and speak well upon all the Actors and talk about purely there achievements, how boring is that.

But that's what they want all the time. They want their asses kissed, like they usually have. But Gervais didn't do that and now theres a big uproar. They don't care that its boring. They want to just be thrilled with themselves

He's not even that bad, Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle are much worse (and even funnier, although Gervais is funny), they need to loosen up. I bet he brought in a much higher rating.

My teacher showed us his opening monologue in English class today to get our thoughts on it.
Personally, I found it hilarious (as did most of everyone else). Maybe the majority of Americans just aren't used to that kind of style.

Never really found Gervais that funny myself, I think in England we've got alot better comedy writers then him, however I don't see what was meant to be that offence in the jokes he made. There are a couple that might have pushed it a little but I don't think anyone could get that upset over them, plus the invention of lying was probably alot worse then the stuff the people he mocked were recently in.

I like how the title is still " band "
David Letterman seemed to enjoy the jokes.

Maybe the majority of Americans just aren't used to that kind of style. I don't think it's a cultural thing, I think Gervais was just being himself and the high society-like Powers-that-be at the Golden Globes thought he crossed the line. If an American made jokes along the same line that Gervias did, they would be banned, too.
