Am I the only one who cares about the belts? I think Mattel has done a fantastic job with listening to the fans and putting out a quality product. They have made jakks look minor league with their product. Details are awesome and actually complete. My only gripe is the lack of belts. What good is it for a collector who displays the figures to not have the figures come with belts? Mattel has this awesome legends line but NO belts. Where's my winged eagle, my tag team, european etc.. Not to mention the current belts. Jakks did such a lousy job with the belts they put out where they were too big for the figures but so far Mattels classic IC and from what i can see of the Sheamus and McIntyre figures the belts are to scale. Come on Mattel dont let me down now. 90's era tag titles (lod and Demo shoulda had em) WInged eagle (colors for future warrior figures) European (coulda came with Bulldog) Attitude title Smoking skull smackdown tag raw tag world title wcw titles ecw titles PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Rewind a year ago, I had about 3 Mattel figures. a 1/1000 Kofi, an Elite CM Punk & MVP. Now I've got about 160.
Getting Steamboat & Randy Savage last year was an absolutel shock. Honestly I feel that if Jakks still had the WWE license we would have gotten them eventually, but I think Mattel might have pushed a little harder because they are a new company and really wanted to make a big splash.
I was really surprised that it took this long to get any sort of belt. Since the Championship belts are such an important part of the company that should have been priority #2 on their list (#1 being the actual figure designs) it should not have taken 8 series to get them.
My biggest complaint....and it's something I really feel Mattel needs to fix. The ankle joints on the Elite figures. They absolutely need to change it. They need to make Basics & Elites have the same ankle joints. The Elite ankles are HORRENDOUSLY bad. It's what causes them to fall over so easily, because of the connector being so thin at the bottom of the shin & the pin not being strong enough. The Basic one is a far superior design.
Of course I wish we never lost the stands, that just bugs me to no end. It's not going to stop me from collecting....even if it did I'm just one person so it wouldn't change anything anyway.
I honestly am still excited as to what we will see this year. Hopefully we'll get the current roster completed at least in Basic form, Basic & Elite would be nice. I'm also expecting some nice surprises in the Legends line.
Either way, I'm all in with Mattel.

They shot out great at first but had slowed down since. Also not a fan of the headscans, articulation, stiffness, and repaints.

I've been happy with the amount of overall detail and look of the figures. They're amazing. My only complaint is the distribution to Canada. I don't think we've gotten a new Basic series since series 4. And that whole 2 figures per Elite series crap is ridiculous.

I'd also like to add that Mattel really needs to develop some new kneepads...or start using those smaller ones more often. The large kneepads only work visually for about 7 wrestlers, and in addition they are just awful. Stiff plastic and covering too much of the knees, you can't even post Elites properly because the pad restricts movement.
I really hope Mattel gets a new pad mold or at least uses a synthetic rubber like Jakks.

elites, legends, and defining moments are all outstanding, great job mattel. detail on the figures is something i always wished for. absolutely love the scaling of the figures. my complaints would be way to many of the same figures over and over i mean cena, triple h, mat hardy and cm punk have all had two elites when r-truth has only had one! come on. also the elite scale ring i think was a little to big for the figures ... hopefully if and when they release a new one they will get it right.
but otherwise than that i been very happy with the line.

13 months ago, I was only collecting Micro Aggression figures and was hesitant to start with the larger ones. Jakks had tons of figures made and it would've been expensive for me to hunt down all the older ones through eBay. Then I heard about Mattel getting the license and I'm very glad I waited for them.
Complaints? Hardly any, really...Yes, some Elites have weak ankles but it's only happened a couple of times to me so it's not a huge problem.
Distribution can be wacky but usually, one store will cover for others that fail. Sometimes Targets are the place to go, sometimes Kmart, Walmart, or TRU, that's fine. I've found every WWE figure that's been released in stores, even E1 Rey, B8 Maryse, L3 Rock & Mr. Perfect, or EG Jericho so Mattel has been getting these figures out there.
Repaints are fine; Cena, Edge, Orton, Jericho, Morrison, Kofi, & Undertaker are popular choices so it make sense to reissue them. It's also nice to get their different attires. At this point, the majority of the WWE roster is done and we still have years of Mattel products to go through, so no worries there.
Praises? There's plenty! The attention to detail is amazing, just look at L2 Kamala, DM Macho Man, or SDCC Undertaker. The biggest detail I'm grateful for, though, is the attention to scale. It's awesome to display my figures and see Big Show, Undertaker, or the Great Khali towering over Rey Mysterio or the Divas.
For me the biggest surprise, and another thing Mattel did right, was introducing us to the Legends line! Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Mr Perfect, The Iron Sheik, Road Warriors, Demolition, The Ultimate Warrior...It's very cool to see them fit right in with my collection, in scale and with all their details.
What to improve upon? I'd suggest giving us more variety of weapons & accessories. We still need the rest of the current belts but vintage belts would be great too. Also, I think it's time Mattel took advantage of the Mattycollector site to include the WWE brand. They could release some exclusive figures or special sets through there if they're afraid retail sales won't be kind to superstars like Gorgeous George or Lou Thesz. It would also be a nice way to re-release special display stand accessory packs for collectors. One last thing I'd like to see: WWE crew or staff. It's time to get Vince McMahon, commentators, and referees!
In the end, I'm very happy with what Mattel is doing and hope to see more cool WWE stuff in the future!

They have done an excellent job and raised the expectations I have for wrestling figures. Pretty much all the complaints I had previously about have been corrected by Mattel. The scale is fixed, individual molds and correct/accurate/detailed deco, good character choice. The only thing I can say is I'm anxious for new wrestlers, especially in the Legends line.

I'm going to be totally honest when I say this... I used to hate Mattel's figures, but, Mattel has certainly grown on me over the year. I'll give them there props for being consistent and being extremely detailed. I wish the face scans were a tad bit better but, I'm sure they'll improve over the years.
This doesn't mean I still don't like Jakks older stuff. I still look for older Jakks classics when ever I get a chance. Simply because I have so many of them.
Good job Mattel! Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us in 2011.

I think Mattel has been the best wrestling figure so far!
I think the protos are awesome and not weird like the first set of protos!
I just hope Mattel adds movement in the fingers like the r3 tech figs!

Surprises for 2010 included: having both Steamboat AND Savage BEFORE the end of the year! Old school versions of Taker,HBK,Jericho,Rock,Austin,Mysterio that did NOT take up slots in the Legends series. Yes versions of SCSA and Rocky were in the line, but putting alternate versions into other waves is brilliant to me. Middle School versions of Cena,HHH,HBK,Edge,Orton,Christian and others that weren't "classic" enough for Legends and ,even better, didn't take up space in Legends either. I love Heritage/Sig Series sets! Biggest surprise to me personally- I buy a lot of repaints. I tried to buy only debut characters/alt headscans with Jakks. Straight repaints were ignored in most cases. With Mattel,if the detail is there in the design ,I end up buying it. That's how good they can be.
Disappointments: there are a few QC problems that are being addressed. So I won't harp on it now. If they're not fixed by this time next year though....well I will break out the harp and the soapbox. Distribution has been and continues to be a problem. Several areas have seen Signature Series and 2P8 (neither have hit here) while others are without B8 (pegwarming here, nowhere to be found elsewhere) And although I don't "fault" Mattel on this one,I certainly was /am disappointed that Bret Hart hasn't signed or been released. Figured he was a shoe-in after last year.

Well all I really have to say is that Mattel is AMAZING! And I am more of a WWE figure collector than ever now. Since I now have what i've basically always wanted, that Jakks could not seem to deliver. My only true complaint with Mattel is the crappy and slow distribution in Canada.

My biggest fear, which has been realized and now is my biggest complaint, is the erratic uneven shoddy distribution. Every time I go to stores and find nothing or the same old same old my feelings of disappointment grow. I think right now it's the crummiest it's been. I don't know what Mattel is doing but they sure are sucking out the fun and ramping up the frustration. I'm just tired of looking, ya know? Next week? Next next week? Which store? Wal-Mart? K-Mart? Target is full of old stuff. TRU is full of garbage. No rhyme, no reason, no fun.
And to think, I used to love to go TRU regularly and pick up new Jakks WWE figures.

My biggest surprise from Mattel was Macho Man. I also like how several figures of released wrestlers still made it to the pegs (Hurricane, Knox, etc). My biggest disappointment has been smudgy paint applications and uneven distribution. For the future, I'd like to see more belts, weapons, and accessory packs for rings.

my biggest surprise was just the sheer amount of product we got! realistically,i would've been happy with just going up to Series 6 on Basic's,Elite's ,and 2-packs...but we got more than that...plus all the PPV lines...plus Legends - that REALLY surprised me! i though they would just concentrate on the current roster figures first, but they got 4 Legends series (and a 2-pack's series as well) before the year was over...

Sorry to sound like a spoiled sport but Mattel's takeover of the WWE line has absolutley killed my passion for wrestling figures, there overproduction and subpar quality. I don't care how detailed they are I feel the figures themselves feel cheap and small. The basic line reminds of the WCW toy biz era, which as a kid I loved but as an adult I expect more now. As well as 15 dollars at most stores for an elite? with Jakks we called that a Deluxe Aggression and they were 8.99. Sorry but I have bought 2 Mattel's so far, Elite 1 CM Punk to see how these figures were and an entrance great Jericho because of my love for that day and that outfit but I will not buy anymore.
Jakks is gonna get some TNA sales from me but they too dropped the ball, I havn't seen any TNA anywhere except a few scattered CTL 2 packs and series 1 Aj styles, I had to grab a Sting online.

biggest disappointment -- not continuing the 1/1000 figures. they said every star would get a 1/1000 belt on their first basic line figure, christian didn't get one?

Personally As A Collector i love that they've made so many figures so far but as someone with a small income and can rarely afford to get them it kinda is a little annoying at the same time at least for me
