When I was a kid, like many other kids, I didn’t know the value of stuff. So typically like any other child I opened my WWF Hasbro figures and beat and banged them. But, if only I knew the value of them when I was younger I probably would’ve been laying on a goldmine. Here is my question what figures do you think will be as valuable if not more under the Mattel line. True Mattel WWE is still a young brand, but the articulation and design of these figures are amazing and I my humble opinion Mattel is the greatest company to date to create WWE figures that also includes LNJ, Hasbro, and Jakks.
So far from what I’ve been seeing online sellers have “Stone Cold” Steve Austin marked higher than his WWE Legends series I counterparts, perhaps his WWE Legend series 1 figure might be one of the most valuable in the future. Also I see the Randy Savage Defining Moment figure value increasing over time like that of the Andre the Giant and Dusty Rhodes Hasbro figures.
So guys what figures do think will be the most valued in the future.
Kudos on Mattel by the way for their hard work; it’s sad to say this but if Vince McMahon bought TNA like he did WCW in 2001 Mattel would do wonders with folks like Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, and Sting. But hopefully TNA will get on track and re-create the Monday Night Wars again (but that’s coming from a guy that believes WWE needs competition now).

The more popular characters will always be in the most demand... The Rock, Stone Cold, Hogan (if they ever make him), etc.

The modern figures will never have value like the Remco's, LJN's and Hasbro's of old. The prices of modern toys will drop, to many are bought and left mint in the package or on the card to create any real rarity. When a figure is created in a very limited number (500 or less) the value lasts only as long as that line is in favor. In short, do not buy these figures thinking they will buy you a car or a house someday. Many of the figures Mattel has made can be bought on this board for below retail lose and at cost MOC.

I think because Mattel figures are more expensive than any other wrestling figure before, it's going to be more difficult to make a profit on them down the road. Figures released in mass retail won't really be worth much anyway because of how common most of them are.
Aside from the 1/1000 figures, I can only see possibly some internet exclusives and special promo figures being worth anything later on.
Just enjoy your Mattel figures, buy the ones you like and don't ever sell them. =P

I couldn't care less. That's not why I collect. I doubt any modern figure will be high in value in the long run because they are produced in such greater number than toys from the pre 90's. That being said if it's anything like the past the pegwarmers always seem to be the most saught after in the future. I guess that's because noboy bought them and they are then hard to find. I remember with B:TAS Penguin & Scarecrow were major pegwarmers when they first came out, but now according to the price guides in the Toyfare & Lee magazines they are the most expensive to get now. And it's like that for many of my old toy lines that I've thought about buying again. It seems the pegwarmers are now the most expensive.

Yeah situations like the Jeff Hardy are about it. Jeff is the rocket firing Boba Fett so to speak. Other than that, mass modern era collecting has pretty much eliminated any long-term value in figures. Similar to the comic book industry where everyone tried to jump on board, coincidentally that almost crushed comics for good. Enjoy your figures, display them, play with them, but don't expect them to pay for your kids college.

I wouldn't count on it. The name of the game these days seems to be making a quick buck turning figures that are scarce only in some markets, a.k.a. scalping.

This, I do admit I bought 2 SDCC Undertakers but it looks good moc and if i need money it can get me £40-60. I hate seeing things sold out and some posters on here buying 12 of them (depending on what they are gunna use them for).
