When it's all said & done, how will Robert Kelly be remembered? No one can deny his talent & his success. He''s sold over 65 million in album sales. He is the king of R&B, no one else can compare. Just when everyone thought his career was done and was going on to the long list of 90's R&B stars that simply can't sell anymore or just aren't relevant, he brings out Love Letter, one of the best albums of 2010 and the best r&b album since Chocolate Factory, he outdid himself. The man has penned Michael Jackson's last no.1 hit, "You Are Not Alone", has written for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, The Isley Brothers, along other music legends. Has had more than 40 top 20 hits worldwide. Singles like Igniton, I Believe I Can Fly, I Wish, If I Could Turn Back The Hands, I'm Your Angel, Bump & Grind, Sex Me, and so many more.
He has an amazing voice, needs to be heard to be believed. If you don't believe me just check this out
But behind all that, in 2002 he was hit with major accusations of child molestation, even a sex tape was released. But in 2008 he proved innocent, but many believe that it was him, many believe it wasn't. So really, when it is all said and done and (touch wood) he passes away, how will he be remembered?

When I think of R. Kelly ... Well actually I never think of him, but when I read his name somewhere or hear someone talking about him, I instantly think of how he's a musician not about his ... Tapes and what not. lol.

R.Kelly will ALWAYS be remembered for pissing on an underage girl.

Very talented, but very troubled.
Heres my personal opinion only: Growing up, I knew who Jackson was. Wether in the news, or through his music, I knew he was a big deal. Kelly? Not so much. It was years before I knew he wrote "I Believe I Can Fly", and I vaugely knew of him in the early 00's, but I didnt really start paying attention to him until his court cases. To this day I am not aware how how impactful he was on music or how popular he once was; it was just never presented to me on TV or anything like that. He was never in my face and demanded my attention like people like Jackson, Eminem, and other music Icons.
This is the most I can recollect about my learning of him growing up (in chron. order): Made "I Believe", peed on a girl, Dave Chappelle pariodied a song (which I heard, before I heard the original), made Trapped in the Closet, horribly lip-synced Trapped, and he started appearing more frequently in my life, but not enough at all to make any kind of impact. I dont even have one song of his on my Itunes.
Kelly wont get any kind of Jackson post-death treatment, but those who loved him will remember him fondly. He'll get some due, but it probably wont be any kind of national tragedy. I wont be phased.

Unfortunately he will ALWAYS be remembered for this, despite being a great musician in his own right.

Robert Kelly will always be the inferior Robert Kelly to me. Robert Kelly Thomas is a greater musician. But Kells is no doubt a very talented musician. If he wants to pee on an underage girl in his spare time, that doesn't effect how great his music is.

I think people are forgetting that R Kelly's fans have always gotten pass the whole little girl situation. Call me crazy, but I honestly think that he's built enough of a legacy to actually be remembered for his music.

Maybe 20 years from now people will forget about the pedo-pissing, as time has a way of doing that. I like a few of his songs, but I have always thought his songs were always overly dramatic and just a little too much for me. He is talented, but a creep, just like a lot of talented people who become famous.

I can't look at him or read about him without thinking about him pissing on an underage girl. I sincerely hope that is his legacy as well, as it should never be forgotten.

Musically he is brilliant and I have always liked his music, what he gets up to away from the music is seriously messed up.
But for"Gotham City (Remix)" being a personal favourite I'll remember him for the music.

However, I only know of about 3 of his songs, so the first thing that comes to mind when I hear R. Kelly is, "Oh yeah, the "Piss on You" guy."

The only time I ever think of the guy is via Aziz Ansari's bit about him from Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening.
In general though, probably peeing and Trapped in the Closet.
