Well, today while I was at Target I broke down and bought my first figures in over 3 years. The figures that broke me: Legends Series 3 Vader and Defining Moments Randy Savage. When the Jakks figures started to go to **** in the later series' I swore off collecting and thought I was done forever; and then Mattel took over... The quality of their legends series has just continued to blow me away and after seeing their Toyfair pics I realized I that I had to have this incredible line in my collection. So, in keeping with the topic, has anyone else swore off collecting only to start back up later on? What's the longest you've gone between buying a figure?

I went about 2 years without purchasing anything, honestly. Now days I just simply purchase Undertaker figures that I need or don't have, and the occasional Jericho, Punk, HBK, or Orton.

No one can blame you for picking up Vader. It's the best figure Mattel has produced for the WWE and Vader's best figure ever. Kudos.

Yesterday I got my first Mattel. I swore off collecting as I'm 19 nearly 20.
Spoke to a few guys on here, I bought Elite 4 Jericho and Elite 6 Punk.

Yeah, i swore off collecting around classic 9. I couldn't find them and when i did find a few i looked at them and was like this is some half assed stuff why am i wasting my money on these. S i only bought here and there very rarely i picked up anymore. Then Mattel hit. I said to myself i am only getting the Basic series 1 and the 2 packs. I had them all then picked up series 2. After that i picked up an elite b/c i had everything that was out, now i am starting to stop again b/c it is just costing to much so i am going to stick to buying Defining Moments, and the legends figures. That way i have a nice collection and its worth the price i pay for them. Also todays product don't really interest me so i find it kind of pointless to buy figures of people i don't like or have been released. I can't bring myself to spend 15$ per say on Shad when he's not even there anymore.

I normally go a couple months due to money or lack of interest but never longer than that.

I was only collecting the WWE Classics and then stopped like at series 6 of them to give you an idea of how long it has been and I sold my collection off about 2 years ago. And just now at Christmas started back just for the Legends Line.

I stopped buying wrestling figures in late 2001. Next ones I bought were Jakks Micro Aggression in early 2007. A little over a year later, I started collecting Build & Brawl. From there, I got back into the full-sized figures and buying stuff from the BCA/TTL days on ebay.
When Mattel took over the WWE license, I got back into it big-time. I've got about 150 of these things, and nowhere near enough room for them.

I was so upset with the Jakks deal and stopped buying figures in late summer of 09. I sold off my MOC collection a couple of months later. But Mattel hooked me back with Steamboat this past August. So I went about a year, and then went back.

Welcome to the club. There's a lot of us that have done the same. The Mattel line is just too damn good.

Yep, I hear ya' brother. Toward the end of Jakks run, I sold my entire collection on Ebay. I didn't feel like starting up a new collection after years of gathering Jakks. But once I saw Mattel, I fought the bug for a while. Once I saw the Legends line, I got right back into it. Mattel changed my mind. They really are figures fit for the 21st Century collector.

I basically just take "mini-breaks" in-between months, and let figs start to pile up at the stores, then swoop in when I get paid and pick up the 3-4-5 figs I want from whatever series. I swore of collecting after Jakks lost the license, but around February(2010), I realized now was the time to collect if ever, after seeing the Elite 1 Taker and Punk in person, side by side, and all the detail, from Punk's shirt, to his tats, to Taker being so much bigger.
No regrets.
Anyways, I'm jealous over that Vader. Only 1 Wal-Mart out of all local stores over here(TRU, Target, WM) got in one box of Legends 3, and all they had left when I got there was Bulldog, Perfect, and Pillman. I got the cash together a few days later and by the time I came back, Perfect and Pillman were long gone and 3 Bulldogs were still warming shelves. No sign of anymore L3 anywhere else. Kind of discouraging.

I stopped around classics 6, and sold everything. Then last Sunday I bought elite 6 "Punk" and am now back in, and really need to find a Elite "JoMo"!

I recently got back in too. I'm not gonna go as crazy though as I once did with Jakks. That DM Savage twisted my arm pretty easily.
