Did anyone else hear this on the video? Possibly going to 1 legend per Elite set, WTF!
The Legends are the only figs I buy. I personally hate wrestling today and dont even watch it.
The legends would sell better with a weekly legends show, showing old matches. FREE on tv, not wwf 24/7 or wwf classics on comcast.
They said maybe they went to deep with the 1st couple of lines. Like who, Orndorff or George Steele? If those are too deep, the legends line is screwed.
Only so many BIG names out there.
Hogan Warrior Flair Steamboat Austin Taker HHH Rock Hart
We need guys like Giant Gonzales, and the Rougeau Bros and Hercules and The Narcicisst.
I collect the legends like I did the Classic Superstars, and want to have as many old legends as possible.
They need to not produce as many of the obscure legends then. The market is not the same as it was for Jakks. The "Legends" buzz is over for alot of people after Jakks. the Economy is much worse, and stores arent carrying them much either.
All the more reason to have a weekly 2 hour legends show. Legends still alive can make guest apperances.
LOVE the legends made so far, and bought ALL of them. But dissapointed to hear the scaling back of legends line.

I thought Bill was saying that a Legend could be added to an Elite line every so often as a supplement, not scratching the whole Legends line.
I wonder if collectors are happy with their crappy Jakks versions and aren't willing to give Mattel a try? I know once I did, I was more than happy to make the switch and don't care if Mattel makes the same characters in the same attires. I guess not everyone feels the same though.

"They need to not produce as many of the obscure legends then"
by this I meant not make as many of each figure, since the market is not that great. But make as many legends as you can. Instead of a milion Paul orndorffs, maybe only make 50,000. If they are a hot selling fig, they can always make more of them.

I don't really care what they do with the Legends tbh. The Elites always have that one or 2 figures that don't sell so maybe you make them Legends and you have a whole selling set. I love whole sets of legends but if they don't sell i'd rather them in Elite then not at all.

I understood it to be like what JKLMD2002 said. they were saying going to 1 legend per elite set, scaling back. like Jakks is doing with their legends line. To give the quality needed and not skimp on the product. If it was going down like this, there would have been an uproar on this site that would have put Egypt to shame.

I thought by saying they went a bit too obscure he meant it more in regards to attires and such. Don't make a Sgt. Slaughter people don't recognize. Make them in their most iconic looks and they'll sell. No Jimmy Snuka in some odd costume he wore for a few months.

If you re talking about what I think you are talking about then you are mistaken. The question Tim asked Bill was someone on WF asked if they thought about adding Legends to the Elite line and Bill said that i was something they could look into rather than just throwing obscure wrestlers into the lineup to fill the line maybe they can make it 4 wrestlers with 2 legends. But again that was in answer to a question asked from the boards. Bill never said they were planning on doing that, but rather that was something they could look into. At least that's how I took his answer.

One unique way they could do this while keeping a separate Legends line focusing on older stars would be to make one figure in the Elite line a "Legendary Look" featuring current stars in their original or early popular looks.
You've got Brood Christian, E&C versions of Edge and Christian [with the goofy hats, sunglasses and mesh shirt for Christian], WCW Rey, ECW Rey, Blue Blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley, American Bad A$$ Undertaker, 98-era Taker, masked Kane, WCW Giant and even original Ruthless Aggression era Cena that come to mind immediately for me.
Maybe even use the Legend box style to further show that today's stars are legends like the older guys the kids don't know as much about like a Kamala but might now be interested in since he fought Undertaker.

Personally I think they need to keep making the later 80's and 90's stars. I feel that if you look at the characters outfits they will sell. Look at the Rockers,Nasty Boys,Big Bossman,Hulk Hogan,Hart Fondation,Repoman,Papa Shango,King Kong Bundy,Honkytonk Man,Brutus Beefcake.... and so on I wish they would open up to NWA/WCW and bring in guys like The Great Muta,Magnum TA the 4 Horsemen and so on.

Jasonphoenix1, I agree with you on this. I think the Legends line is better than I first thought it was, and I think making figures from the late 80's to late 90's would help keep these sets going for awhile. Also, the Legends series 5 line looks magnificent!

They need to do those lesser known looks later down the line, when its proven itself successful, instead of testing the waters early on and seeing the line falter right away.

I have to disagree with the Rick Rude comment......his fued for the WWF championship against the ultimate warrior and his whole run in WCW as the NWA champion he had short hair

I really like that idea, although then you would have to question how many legends Mattel has signed and if they have enough to fill the Legends line without current stars
