Hey i'm going to Chicago the first week of june with my wife. Any of you that have been to Chicago or from the area what are some nice hotels at a reasonable price. I don't mind staying in the main city but from what I see the prices are outrageous. So any in the outlying areas will work as well! Thanks
Also what all is there to do in Chicago?

Trump Hotel As far as what to do goes, Take a picture at The Bean, visit The Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Navy Pier. Go shopping on State St. The Sears tower has new glass platforms to stand on at the top, thats probably cool. Get an Italian Beef sandwich somewhere. Or a Chicago hotdog. Those are some of the most popular things, aside from sporting games. Someone who lives within the city can probably point out even more attractions. Have fun and enjoy the stay!

The Shedd Aquarium isn't worth it IMO. The Sears Tower is awesome. The Field Museum is amazing and I'd recommend the Navy Pier as well. Get some Garrett's popcorn. Take a tour of Wrigley field if you're a baseball fan.

stay somewhere in the outskirts. Joliet is like 10 minutes outside the city Chicago and you can get a decent hotel there for less than $100 a night. Plus you can go see the old prison that The Blues Brothers and Prison Break was filmed in

Take a tour of Wrigley field if you're a baseball fan. Navy Pier is a tourist trap. I would rather go to the Shedd than Navy Pier. Field Museum is awesome though. OP, what kind of things are you interested in? That might help with some recommendations. If you stay outside the city, I would suggest a hotel that is close to the EL and then you can just take the train into the city. The red and blue lines run non-stop

Plus you can go see the old prison that The Blues Brothers and Prison Break was filmed in WOW 10 mins? Joliet is an hour away from Downtown Chicago with no traffic and you speeding. If I had the money and was a tourist I would stay at the Hilton in Downtown Chicago. The Hilton is right in front of Millenium park which is home of the bean and is a lakeside park. Also the Hilton is maybe 10 blocks away from the Sears tower (they want you to call it Willis Tower now btw). The Hilton is also about 15 blocks away from the Shed aquarium, field museum, and adler planetarium. All of those things are with in walking distance of the Hilton if you're up for the walk. And if you didnt want to walk it would prob be no more than 10 dollar cab rides. OR if you like mass transit the city Buses will take you for a cple of bucks a person. Just north of the Hilton on Michigan ave there is a lot of shopping areas. IMHO I like the Musuem of Science and Industry way better then any other museum. It has soo many interactive exhibits as opposed to the Aquarium/Field Museum which are mainly exhibits you go only to see. I strongly recomend you check out the Science and industry museum, if you rent a car there is free parking all around the Science and Industry unlike the others which are 20 bucks to park. If you do go to the Science Museum be sure to check out the Coal Mine tour and the U505 submarine. Enjoy your trip.

I tried to find the info for my hotel I stayed in when I went to Chicago a year or so ago. Maybe it's been 2 years now. In any case, I'm coming up empty. I stayed about 15 mins from the airport, but I can't find the info. I would also suggest that you and your wife go to Medieval Times. Highly, highly recommend it.

I've stayed at the Witt and the Hard Rock. Both are great locations near/on Michigan avenue and both are 4 stars. Don't know how old you are but both are geared towards a younger crowd of 21-35.
In addition to what everyone already said Chicago also has some world class broadway style theaters. The Oriental is my favorite

Here's another suggestion.....
If you are on facebook check out Free things to do in Chicago.
They give updates pretty often on when certain Museums/Concerts/festivals/whatever is free.
