I stared at the card for EBR's appreciation show and thought;
"Man, my match seems to have the new breed of wrestlers. Looks like there is a new generation upon us here in professional wrestling."
And then, after that very thought, I thought about what Johnny King told him a few months ago.
"Well, I guess the time is now for that."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Wow, Chris, looks like there is a new breed taking storm in here in WFWF, just look at your match. Ya know, there are three things young up and comers need. Heart, they need to be unpredictable, and they need skill.", Dan said to me as I took a sip of my Monster. Man, I must be addicted to Monster. I have at least two cans a day.
"That is what I was thinking. And hey, I'm part of it ain't I? You're talking to me like sixty years old and I have random rants about why my youth days were so much better."
"Damn, Chris, don't let this number one contender ship get to your head. Maybe you don't recall, but Ace pinned you one...two...three back in December. And that was when your foot was fine!"
"Come on, that must've been an off day. And besides, that was in the past. We're looking ahead now. We're looking at the future, the same future that will very soon be the present. And the future is me pinning Ace Bennett one....two...three to win my first ever championship here in WFWF."
"I wouldn't count you chickens before they hatch, Chris."
"Come on Dan, I'm undefeated at PPV's. Can Ace Bennett say that?"
"Chris, you've only had two pay per view matches."
"And I won both of them!"
Dan chuckles and sorta gave me a face palm.
"You're some work, kid."
Dan then got up and walked away and I shouted;
"I thought it was an old man!"
I could tell Dan chuckled and so did I. I started to think about what he said and really thought hard about who was in my match. First, I thought of my tag team partner, Carter Contra.
"Damn, this kid has had a rough life. Both of his parents died before he got out of a high school. I could tell he has heart though, he still got through high school and now he's here. Bravo. Carter has heart, and well, no one can deny that. And I hope this kid gets the respect he truly deserves."
I got up from the table he was sitting at and picks up his Monster. Now, for my opponents, first there is Samael Ahriman.
"Man, I don't even know how to prepare for this guy. I mean, he'll do anything to get a head. Well, who wouldn't? Nothing is going to stop me from winning the national title. Well, back to Samael. He's just unpredictable. I'll stay on my feet, or ummm, foot for him."
I then looked down at my foot, damn it was killing me. I thought about putting a brace on it, but I couldn't let everyone see my weakness. And damn AJ King putting me in the ankle lock. Son of a bitch.
"I'll just stop thinking about it," I thought.
"Hmm, what about Ace Bennett? Now, he's got skill. Well, of course he'd have skill, he's the National Champion. Yet, I will beat him. Nothing can stop me from winning the title. So what he beat me two months ago? Big whoop. That's the past, this is now. I hope Ace is ready for the fight of his life. This pain in my foot? That is just weakness leaving my body."
I then reached my locker room and picked up some athletic tape and started wrapping it around my wrist.
"When I step into the ring with Ace, I'm going to be the ultimate combination of heart, uniqueness, and skill. Ace won't be able to stop me, he won't be able to reach me in the air, and hell, he's not going to be able to match my skill that not, I'll just be simply unstoppable. And hey, I guess there finally is something that can beat an Ace. A Jackal."
"Man, my match seems to have the new breed of wrestlers. Looks like there is a new generation upon us here in professional wrestling."
And then, after that very thought, I thought about what Johnny King told him a few months ago.
“Every generation needs a new revolution, and someone has to lead it. Let that leader be you, Chris.”
"Well, I guess the time is now for that."
