March 1, 2011 on the Season Finale of Season Four of WWE NXT when Johnny Curtis beat out Brodus Clay to become WWE's next breakout star and earn a Tag Team Championship match along with his Pro, R-Truth, it was announced that the Season Five edition would return to SyFy and feature Rookies who are parts of famous wrestling families. Not only that, but their Pros would also come from famous wrestling families!

March 8, 2011After the pyro blasts throughout the arena to kick off the fifth season of NXT, Todd Grisham introduces us to his new color commentator, Hall of Famer, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. They say a few words about the new season, and then throw it to the host, Matt Striker who in turn introduces his new co-host who is also no stranger to famous families, Natalya! They then introduce the season five rookies: Bo Rotundo, Brett DiBiase,"Big Dog" Dixon O. Godwinn, Marlow Fifita & Joe Anoa'i, Richie Steamboat ,Tito Colon, & Wesley Brisco. Natalya and Matt introduce the rookies to their pros: for Bo Rotundo- David Hart Smith, for Brett DiBiase - Ted DiBiase & Maryse, for Dixon Godwinn - "Dashing" Cody Rhodes, for Marlow Fifita & Joe Anao'i - Jimmy & Jey Uso, for Richie Steamboat - Goldust, for Tito Colon - Primo, and for Wesley Brisco - Chavo Guerrero. With the Pros now introduced, Striker announced that the first match will take place next, and it will be a pros/rookies tag match between the DiBiases vs. the ColonsTed Dibiase (w/ Maryse) & Brett DiBiase vs. Primo & Tito Colon Ted never tagged in to the match, even in times of desperation, leaving his own brother at the mercy of the cousins from Puerto Rico. Winners: Primo & Tito ColonAfter the match, Ted got in the ring and showed his disappointment in Brett through his body language. Tonight: Richie Steamboat takes on Wesley Brisco! Up Next: The first Rookie Challenge: The Obstacle Course! Commercial BreakRAW Rebound: JBL is revealed as Michael Cole's special guest referee for his match at Wrestlemania, only to be beaten to the punch by the returning "Stone Cold" Steve Austin! Grisham and Dusty talk a little about Stone Cold before talking about the upcoming Obstacle Course, but first, a spotlight on Bo Rotundo! Rotundo: My name is Taylor Rotundo, but most of my friends and family know me as "Bo". I've got pro wrestling running through my veins, man. My grandfather is WWE Hall of Famer, Blackjack Mulligan, my uncles are Barry & Kendall Windham, and of course, my dad is the I.R.S. man himself, Mike Rotunda. Oh, and did I mention my brother, Husky Harris was also part of NXT? Ha ha!
What is my goal here in NXT: Family Tradition? Just that! To continue the family tradition of all the greats that have come before me. Unlike some of these guys who just have a dad or an uncle in the business, my whole family has been winning championships for decades. I guess thats why I'm "Taylor made" to be a WWE Superstar!Obstacle Course: Tito Colon gets the fastest time, beating Richie Steamboat's time by 1/10th of a second. Up Next: Richie Steamboat vs. Wesley Brisco! Commercial BreakRAW Rebound: John Cena calls out The Rock. The Miz attacks him, and also calls out The Rock. Richie Steamboat vs. Wesley BriscoRichie Steamboat got the bigger reaction here, with Wesley almost getting a chorus of boos. Both of these young athletes' wrestling style were similar to their father's; Steamboat being aerial-based and Brisco being ground-based technical, but it seemed Brisco didn't bring his "A-game" which allowed Steamboat to always stay one step ahead, nd end the match with a big crossbody from the top rope to pick up the win! Winner: Richie SteamboatGoldust and Richie celebrate in the ring as Todd & Dusty say their farewells and NXT goes off the air.

-I like the idea of a whole family pairing and all, so it makes for good chemistry. Looking forward to this. -Tito and Primo Colon winning was good. I like the brothers teaming on each side. Did that in my WWE 2010. -Tito is getting a big push in this. I wonder if he's a shoe in for big things on this. -Steamboat going over was the best call to make here. Good call here. -Solid show; can't wait to see what's next.

Original idea, Mike. The first show was pretty good, love that Dusty Rhodes and Natalya have joined the broadcast. Adds to the whole concept of the show. Tag team match was OK, not much to comment on. Would have rather seen the DiBiase brothers win, but it sets up potential conflict in the future. Bo Rotundo promo was decent, can't say I want him to win, though. Could've used some more details on the obstacle course. Tito and Richie coming in close makes me happy, would be fine seeing one of them win the whole thing. The main event was average, glad you put Richie over. Seeing as he was one of the focuses on tonight's show, looks like you have big plans for him. Overall, good start to the diary and I cannot wait to read more!

I love that you have The Dream commetating! He would have a good knowledge of these guys too, since he commentates in FCW. Interesting how Ted didn't tag in, I thought they'd run the show together. Very nice promo by Bo, good writing for that one. But why not name him Taylor so he can use that "Taylor Made" slogan more often?! The ending match was cool and I'm really glad Steamboat won, expecially with the cross body. Some of the segments needed some more detail, but overall I really like this! I'll be reading!

Sorry about not replying earlier Bock. I like the layout and the whole feel of the write up seems very NXT-ish (in a good way of course) I'm loving Dusty on commentary since he does FCW commentary as well but am unsure about Nattie being the co-host. All the pro's seem alright. Intrested how Marlow and Joe get on with two pros with such limited experience. Suprised at Ted leaving his brother to be beaten and how thier story goes. I liked the little touch of the commentators talking about the Raw rebound. The Bo spotlight was written well but the emphies on the end about "Taylor" makes me wonder why you ended up calling him Bo. Main event was a good way to end off and Richie winning looks good. Good luck and keep this up.

I like the whole family focus on this, and Dusty and Natalya being added to the "staff" of the show is great. Not much to say about the tag match. The obstacle course could have used a little more detail. Good main event, and I like that Steamboat went over. I feel like there should have been another match on the show though. Overall I think it's a good start.

Firstly, I absolutely love the concept of this and the graphic looks great.
The first show was really solid. It kinda introduced us and have us an orientation on what this diary is about, and also did a bit of character building as well. That Rotundo promo was great, although I'd try to avoid name dropping Husky Harris as much as possible.
I like Richie Steamboat a lot, so I'm glad he got the win and he's my pick for the whole competition.

WWE NXT: Tuesday 8th March 2011..An interesting concept here for Season 5 of NXT, but it will grow to become very repetitive, unless you choose to start making it original. Standard introduction to the show with the Rookies and Pros announced. Natalya as co-hostess is pretty cool. Good to see some Rookies mixed away from their fellow family members, too. Ted Dibiase getting another Pro spot is a bit boring, but like his tough love style towards brother Brett Dibiase. Primo and Tito with the win is better. The Obstacle Course could be fun.Honestly, not too much a fan of the layout. Nice RAW Rebound spot mention though. Like the promo from Bo Rotundo. It seemed very smoothly written. And the inclusion of dialogue was good. Tito winning is probably the better. Another RAW Rebound is a bit suckish. Kills time though. Expected Richie Steamboat to beat Wesley Brisco, a decent episode of NXT really, didn't seem like enough to fill up an hour though. I would have thrown in another match.

I agree with Dan, it's a very interesting concept for NXT, something I'd actually enjoy. The logo is fantastic, did you make it? I'd change the "Family Tradition" font and make it more fitting for the logo, but it really is great.
Dusty as color commentator is fantastic, though I doubt the fans will be able to understand a word he says. Natalya is also a great choice for co-host.
Great choice of rookies and pros. It would have been more obvious to go with the previous generation of superstars to mentor these, but you went with something more original. I really like that.
The Colons getting a big win here is great. I see Ted's losing streak continues on NXT too, haha.
Bo Rotundo is one of the creepiest looking people I've ever seen. Hopefully he's eliminated soon.
Man, it really is Tito's night! May have been cool to have Steamboat win the obstacle course and then go up against Brisco in order to test his skills.
Steamboat over Brisco is for the best. I have a feeling he's going to be your breakout star and the focus of the show.
A decent first episode. I'd love to see more detail, considering the shows are so small, but you did great to start. Well done, dude.

NXT, I thought this was called "Family Values" for some reason, haha. Love Dust Rhodes on commentary, but as Chaz said, Grisham may have to translate. Natalya as Co-Host fits in with the 'family' theme, being a second generation diva herself. I like the Rookie/Pro combinations, and I'm calling Richie Steamboat for an early favorite. Great opener, and Ted DiBiase leaving his brother to do all the work is good for his heel image. A good segment with Bo Rotundo, I imagine these are going to be weekly segments with different Rookies? Tito Colón winning the Obstacle Course was a big surprise for me, but I'm glad Steamboat came close. Also pleased to see him victorious in the Main Event against Wes Brisco.
I'll say now that I love what you've done with the show. I hope it continues like this and actually maintains it's credibility, as opposed to the real NXT. A good show.
