Well it happened to me today, I hit 4 Walmarts today in search of WM Heritage Melina. The first store I went to had a fresh case of WM Heritage, but no Melina. The second store, same thing, a fresh case, no Melina. Third store was a bust. And then the forth store. I walked in the garden dept to see someone at the register buying wrestling figures and talking about wrestling to the cashier. I got a slight glimpse of the figures and saw Triple H and 2 other WM Heritage figs. I get to the figure aisle and what do I find, a fresh supply of 9 WM heritage figures, and you guessed it, no Melina.
There's 12 figures in a case, there were 9 on the pegs, and the couple at checkout had 3 figures. Do the math...they got my Melina! It's crazy to me how if I wouldn't have stopped at McDonalds for breakfast that I wouldve gotten there 10 minutes earlier and gotten the figure that I've been looking for (I already picked up Orton & Cena last week when these first hit). It's like the figure gods are laughing at me to my face. Damnit!
Has this happened to anyone else? Please tell some stories in here!

Has happened to me on 2 occasions at Toys R Us. Its a weird feeling of looking at someone buying "your" figure.

On the day Toy Works received their first shipment of the Papa Shango Classics wave there was a kid (about 5 yrs old) checking out the wrestlers. He had about a dozen wrestlers spread out on the floor, one of them was Shango, his father told him he could choose any 2 figures. Rather than grabbing Shango, I let the kid choose. Of course he picks Rey and Shango. Took me about a month to find another one.

When I was on the hunt for Elite 4 Kane, I watched a little kid take it off the peg, hold it, inspect it,put it down and then pick it up again! It was so damn nerve wracking!!

Back when the Mattel line first hit in 2010, I was at Target and some little kid was looking at the last 2P1 HBK/Y2J in his hands. I was just waiting for him to put it down. He put it down for about 2 seconds and instantly picked it back up and walked off. Needless to say I was very disappointed.

i was at walmart and looking for a series 3 rock and they were all sold out, had everyone but, and out of nowhere some little kid walked down the aisle holding the rock in his hands, i guess he was coming back to look for another figure.... well he reaches down behind some rings and pulls out another rock i guess he hid.... so i grabbed him and gave him the rock bottom on the floor in the walmart and... haha no just kidding.... i dont think thats ever happened to me... maybe back in the bca days.... im pretty sure its happened to me before though
well actually, back in bca days i used to go figure hunting with my friend, the very first time we went he grabbed the only bret hart figure on the rack, so i kinda in a hurry spazzed out and started searching madly and grabbed the only shawn micheals on the rack, after that everytime we went figure hunting together we were kinda lunatics , searchin the rack as quick as we could.... like we were on a gameshow or something
i go by myself now lol

only the once with Mattels. I went shopping for figures the week before Christmas and was in Smyths to also get my nephew one last thing for his stocking from the gaming section. seen loads of wrestlers I wanted-Hurricane,Elite Goldust and Morrison and basic 6 Miz.but went to the gaming section first......when I came back-all were gone there was loads to buy that night anyway but man missing those 4 pissed me off.I was since glad I missed Miz because the Miz/Show pack was excellent.

In 1999 I was hunting for the King of the Ring/Breakdown series Droz. Went to the closest Toysrus about 2 hours away and going to the isle running like a bat out of hell found they had the series in tons of them Mankind,D-lo Brown,Steve Austin was starting to think they did not have one. Well this guy probably 25-30 years old and I was only 11-12 years old but anyway this guy was holding one of each including the last Droz and when my mom came over to get me she asked if I found the one I was looking for and I said no there is no more of Droz......The guy gave me his one Droz figure. So not exactly did I see someone buying it but I saw someone who had it with others and had the intent to buy it.

That's really nice I can't say I've had it happen to me, though I'm sure sometime over the years I've done it to someone lol

Back in the day when the first Star Wars POTF figures were coming out I remember some scalper getting the first Luke Skywalker from Return of the Jedi I wanted and "showing it" to me. On a Saturday morning at 9:15 as soon as the store had opened. That guy was an bunghole.

Yes it has happened in the past quite a bit. I would constantly see the mother of the spam owner walking out of the aisle with figures I wanted. Now I don't even stop at that store if I see her car in the parking lot. I'll just go to the next store on my list. lol

Had a close call with the first da Jeff hardy but I talked the little kid and his mom into putting it back after about 20 minutes of pure manipulation. Then after they left and I was about to check out, I saw another one on the shelf and I never felt more pathetic or ashamed of myself. A grown man persuading a little kid to pass on the figure that he clearly wanted just so I could snatch it up the second he relinquished his grip of it. As a collector though, it's one if my proudest moments. Normally I can avoid this because if I see anyone fat or loserish when i enter the store, I automatically assume they're looking for wrestling toys so I quickly sprint past their slow unathletic bodies and make a b line straight for the wrestling figs. if when I arrive there, there's already someone there with a fig I want, then I'm out of luck. But that only happened once and I still prevailed.
