So last night FCW was in Miami at the Dade County Fair. The show was listed to start at 6 but I work in Coral Springs which is about 45 minutes away and didn't even get out of work until after 5. I drove down anyway hoping just to catch the second part of the show as I figured Seth Rollins would be in the main event.
Turns out, the show didn't start until 9pm. Turns out, Seth Rollins, Richie Steamboat and Ricky Steamboat were doing a free autograph signing before the show. Also, turns out Alberto Del Rio, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Brodus Clay were doing free pictures at a table right next to the first three. I had no idea, it was mark out central.
I am a MASSIVE Ricky Steamboat fan, and I had never met him so this was the coolest thing ever for me, and he was wildly friendly. I got my picture taken with all three and got my Best of Tyler Black ROH dvd signed by Rollins. I was going to do the picture with Del Rio but the line was absurd the entire time. Del Rio is a babyface in South Florida, trust me. I just walked over and shook his hand and then went back over to talk to Rollins as most of the line had passed by. For those who haven't met Tyler/Seth, I highly recommend it, awesome dude.
As for the show, it started off with some ridiculous battle royal where 20 guys were in the ring at the same time and no one got eliminated for like 5 minutes. Mason Ryan ended up throwing out Johnny Curtis to win. Oddly, Mason Ryan wrestled Johnny Curtis for the FCW Championship last time I saw FCW so I thought it was funny. Anyway Ryan got a huge pop from the crowd as Nexus was over all night.
Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty, Bo Rotunda and Bret Dibiase had a fatal 4 way. Crowd was behind Nexus early on but everyone was going pretty wild for Bret at the end when he scored the win. Bret is still very green imo but has some decent charisma when performing.
Xavier Woods worked against Conor O'Brian and won with sort of a surprising flying cross body. I'm a big fan of Woods and he picked up the WWE style super fast it seems. I expect to see him very soon, as I think he has all the tools.
Aksana and Naomi worked against each other with Sonia as the special guest referee. To my surprise, the match was entertaining as all hell. Aksana is an awesome heel and they worked some comedy into the whole thing. I had no idea how athletic Aksana was but her and Naomi both impressed me. Sort of a weird finish but Aksana won and then chastised the crowd.
Lucky Cannon wrestled Tito Colon and Hunico and it was the first time we got to experience some major heel heat. Cannon stopped his music half way to the ring and cut an awesome promo regarding green cards and the Latino population of South Florida. I about cried I was laughing so hard. They did a bit where Tito agreed to work for Lucky for money during the match but obviously that ended half way through. Lucky got the win and won me over in the process. I don't watch NXT but he seems like one hell of an entertainer.
The main event was Seth Rollins and Richie Steamboat vs Titus O'Neill and Damien Sandow. O'Neill and Sandow came to the ring in a golf cart, and O'Neill yelled Gators pretty much the entire match. Super entertaining match. The high point was Rollins doing a diving swanton onto O'Neill and Sandow outside of the ring which had the audience going nuts, ROH and Seth chants galore. It ended with Rollins and Steamboat scoring a pair of super kicks and winning the titles. Ricky came out and celebrated with them and it was really just awesome.
Anyway, sorry for this being so long but here are some pictures. Sorry for the quality as I only had my cell phone and there was a really big obnoxious light in every ring shot. Thanks for reading, enjoy.
