Just bought Natalya and it rang up $11.89 before tax? Is this price just for CA?

Lol yea, everything is more expensive here. Basics will cost as much as elites soon. As of today Mattel is pricing basic figs to be sold at $9.99 at all of the major retailers. If prices are climbing past this price it is the retailers taking the additional margin not Mattel. Once we set prices for the year they hold for that year.

Oh, that's good to know! Do you think the price Mattel sets will be higher next year? I guess the only good thing from this is that Target knows WWE figs are selling so they want to capitalize on the opportunity. Lol yea, everything is more expensive here. Yes I would like to know what the prediction is for next year. Will prices remain the same? Specifically for the Elite/Legend/DM Lines?

Once we set prices for the year they hold for that year. Sorry for the late response, I forgot to chase this thread. We are doing everything in our power to hold both Basic and elite prices through 2011. We know it's important to our consumers, both kid and collector alike. However, between plastic prices(tied directly to oil prices) Labor increases in China, and Our own costs and overhead rising every year it gets harder and harder to find ways to keep both the quality(first priority) and the prices from rising. I believe though if you look at what other brands are charging for 6 to 8 inch figures(including other Mattel Brands) It's pretty obvious that our WWE figures are a great value for the buck. So Finally, will prices go up? Yep, eventually they will but be assured it won't be a decision we take lightly and it will be to hold our margins not raise them at your expense. We don't believe in biting the hand that feeds us. That's not good business for you or Mattel.

Most of the Targets in my area of CT have completely sold out of basics. The pegs have been empty for weeks. Are they holding back product until the price increase fully takes place across all their stores.

Once we set prices for the year they hold for that year. Someone from Mattel needs to contact TRU then, because they are charging $2.00 more per figure and it's hurting the business. I refuse to purchase any Mattel figures from TRU because of their ridiculous inflated prices. Thanks for this info, it's good to know Mattel is not the problem.

TRU is nuts if they're really charging up to $14 for a Basic. I know they were around $12 the last time I was there. I really don't know what they're thinking with some of their pricing.

I could see why they'd do this around Christmas time sicne parents will pay out the ass without realising it. However, right now, they're just being plain stupid. TRU is prolly the WORST place for toys. The only thing they ever have that's worth buying is TRU Exclusive Toys, and other collector's items that other stores don't carry. Other than that, they're freaking nuts!!

When it comes to WWE, I don't even think about TRU. Other than their exclusive WWE, EG, and DM, I bought very few Mattels from them. They have been behind all the other stores in stocking new product.

We are aware of what is happening at TRU. We are not sure why they are raising prices. It may have something to do with their up coming IPO . I will tell you though If I was buying I'd go to Walmart or KMart or even Target if TRU is not being competetive. But thats just me.

More than likely they are selling through before they get their next shipment. sales every where are real brisk right now, comercials are running and Wrestlemania is 4 days away. We are NOT raising our prices to the retailers for 2011. Last time I'll say that by the way. Hope this helps bill

It doesnt matter about TRU's prices their months behind on inventory anyways. My TRU just got in stock Basic 7, which has been in Walmarts & Targets since November/December. TRU sucks. Don't even get me started on the way they over bought the Legends 2 packs no wonder Mattel killed the line.

Even at sale prices for 19.99 or 14.99, all 3 sets still sit in MASS QUANTITIES at my TRU. It's a shame really.

bkbrawler,
Thanks for the great info. But I'm 99% sure the Target's in my area did not receive Basic 8 and 100% sure regarding wave 9. Actually Target's lack of product post-Christmas spreads beyond Mattel and WWE.
edit:
Thanks again. Very few people inside the toy companies speak so candidly with the fans.

Actually Target's lack of product post-Christmas spreads beyond Mattel and WWE. I think this is based on a Combination of under ordering and local stores being prioritized based on prior sales. We ship to distribution centers, the retailers allocate product from there.
