Its always cool to discuss the WHAT IFS?. So what if LEX didnt blow his title win by blabbing his mouth? What if the LEX EXPRESS would have won the belt from yoko at Summerslam?? He had SOOOO MUCH HYPE at this point and then to blow it.... Dont know if this is true but its been going around for a while now online.... I wish he would have won it would have been SOOO COOL.
Luger was originally booked to win the WWF Championship at WrestleMania, but after getting drunk at a bar not long before the event, Luger legitimately told several people (including a local reporter) about the planned outcome.[9] When the information spread, eventually getting to WWF higher ups, the plans were changed to not only have Luger not win the title, but Bret Hart leaving the event as champion.[10]

I still to this day can not beleive that they did not give him the title at Summerslam 93 even if it was just until Survivor Series. I mean the mount of hype they put into it for what a count out victory.
A thing I have always wondered is that we have all heard the story about Luger being the one to win the title at WMX. But I was thinkin was he ever going to leave with it or was the plan for him to beat Yoko then have Bret beat him in the final match.

The money WWE spent on Luger and still no-one gave a damn about him. However in the WWE his look and size would have carried him for a while but I don't believe he'd have bee the next Hogan that Vince was desperately looking for

Even as a 9 year old at the time that actually ordered the PPV the Summerslam PPV, I didn't understand why he didn't win it there. I mean the post match celebration would have made you thought he won the Championship with all the confeti and what-not. Odd booking, but I guess it was WWF's way to draw it out it WM, that is until Luger blew it.

Lex should've won the belt at SummerSlam. He was originally scheduled to win the Royal Rumble and face champion Ludvig Borga at WMX (Borga was supposed to win the belt from UT or Yokozuna). But that is a different story.
I always wished Luger would've won the belt from Yoko at WM X and then lose it to Bret in the main event. I believe that was how the event was supposed to go, but I could be wrong.

Buffalo needed a WWE Champion. We can't have the reputation of chicken wings alone dammit.

SummerSlam '94 (I believe that was the date) had such a bizarre finish. I just rewatched it again on WWE 24/7 recently, and I still don't understand why the announcers and Luger made such a big deal out of a countout victory. The way the entire locker room emptied out and carried him on their shoulders...it was just stupidly booked.
I think Luger could have been a good WWF Champion. Like you said, he had a huge fan base under the Lex Express gimmick and was probably the most marketable main eventer the WWF had at the time.
