I've been joking for the past few weeks saying that that is what the Rock would do the night after Mania. And I was shocked when it actually happened. I'm excited to see this go down, gonna be interesting to see what happens from here on out.

I'm excited for this match, whether the build up is worked all year long or not until a few months before Wrestlemania. It comes at a perfect time and place since it may be the first WM I'll be able to attend. Now I'm definitely making the effort to get tickets and go!
I still don't get the hate against the Rock, though. More power to him to be able to get into Hollywood and make a name for himself, without the aid of WWE Films, make tons of money, and not destroy his body. He helped define the Attitude Era, that so many loved, and earned the right to do what he wants and come back whenever he pleases. If he had stayed wrestling for the past seven years he probably wouldn't be active anymore, like everyone else in his era. Or worse, he'd be beaten down, possibly working in TNA, and a shadow of his former self.
Instead, we get to see a re-energized Rock one more time and in good shape. I really want this match at WM to happen and I want to be there to cheer like crazy. It would truly cement his legacy as the most electrifying man in sports entertainment to have big matches at WM against the top 3 faces of WWE's past 3 decades!

Rock will be around between now and Mania, I'd imagine. He won't be on every week, but I'm sure we'll get promos from him via satellite and stuff. I really don't know what they're gonna do to make sure everybody remembers this feud for an entire year, though. Will they just have Cena move on and feud with somebody else starting next week and act as if none of this even happened for a few months? It's just disappointing the way they built everything up for the past 2 months as if it was all going to culminate at this year's Mania or at the very latest SummerSlam, and now we have to wait to get a conclusion for an entire year. I still think there's a strong chance The Rock wrestles before Mania next year, I really do. And Lorenzo, The Rock has made a sh*t ton of money from his kids movies and he's still getting action roles. He's not returning to the WWE because he needs the money or because he wants to show Hollywood he can be a badass, that's just ridiculous. I didn't say he didn't make a sh*t ton of money from his kids movies.....but when he left the WWE to make movies I don't think he envisioned himself being in Race to Witch Mountain, Tooth Fairy, and whatever the hell that stupid movie was about him being a football player and his long lost daughter moves in....he wanted to be a bad ass action star....and it hasn't happened. It's the same reason Trish Stratus is back....she thought she was going to be an actress and some kind of Jillian Michaels fitness guru....and it hasn't happened for her either. The reason she's back and doing Tough Enough is because she hopes that this will land her future roles on USA Network shows and USA Network TV movies. Some of these men and women just need to face the facts that the only roles they can play to perfection are their roles in the WWE. You take Dwayne Johnson and ask him to play anything other than The Rock in a WWE ring in front of a live WWE audience and the magic, or ELECTRICITY, just isn't there. Same with Trish Stratus...she's a legendary Diva in the WWE, but you take her out of that role and ask anybody else in Hollywood what they think of her and she just becomes some random person. She is only important in WWE. That couldn't be further from the truth. The Rock is wrestling at Wrestlemania because he wants to, it has absolutely nothing to do with The Rock's one-year plan to get on top of Hollywood by showing them he's a badass, that's just silly. Making PG-rated jokes and talking about fruity pebbles isn't going to impact The Rock's future in movie roles. The Rock is making a better living with his career in Hollywood than he would be killing his body in the WWE at 37 years old. He knows his role in Hollywood (no pun intended) and is already an action star. He's been very successful in making movies and is still getting a ton of movie offers for action movies. He was just in "Faster" (really fun movie, BTW) and now the new Fast and Furious movie. As for Trish? She's still on magazine covers and really entrenched in her yoga thing. It's not like she's struggling for money snorting coke in an alley somewhere, she's still making a very good living doing what she's doing and she's happy doing it. She never wanted to be an actress or anything like that, she's always been into fitness even before she was a wrestler.

I'm worried about how they are going to build this up for the next year considering how much of a let down the end of long-term storylines has been recently (Cena vs Nexus for example).
I don't see why they didn't have it this year to be honest, they could have started the build as soon as Cena was done with Nexus, for example, at the Slammy's he could have said, "After I take care of Nexus, I'm going after the one man everyone wants to see me fight". Rock costs Cena the title against Miz at the Rumble and the match is made the night after. Miz faces someone else at main and retains so he is still champ, Rock and Cena have that special Wrestlemania moment match for the ages to close the show.
This match is the selling point of Wrestlemania 28 and I predict the largest buyrate it years. Personally, I don't care what the rest of the card is, it could be The Great Khali vs. Hornswoggle in a 3-hour Iron Man Match for all I care. All I care about at this point is seeing The Rock vs. John Cena.
BTW, I want The Rock to win.

I too am amazed at all the hate for The Rock and Trish Stratus.. It's like you're offended they went on to better their lives.
The Rock gave us some of the best wrestling in history.. And he left because he had the chance to not be crippled by the time he was 50.. So what you want him to be like Ric Flair? Out there looking like an idiot.. Yea Flair is iconic in the business, but at what price?
Stop acting like The Rock has some "secret" reason for wrestling again or even showing up this year.. It's no secret that this man grew up around the business.. His father, grandfather.. It's not like he's some random guy that jumped into wrestling because he had size and athleticism.. He did it for the same reason he came back this year and the same reason he's coming back next year..
He loves the business.. And he loves his fans.
Period.

I guess people would rather Rock wrestle until he is a broken down shell of himself ala ric flair.

I hate how this a damn year away.. a year is a VERY long time.
Also, why all the hate for Trish and Rock??? Seems like you guys don't like them because they aren't always on Raw every week.
Trish, in my opinion, will be around for a while. Obviously The Rock will be around somewhat often, as he has a match a year away. Although I wouldn't doubt it if he disappeared for another 4 months or something..
I don't care how often Trish is around.. I love to see her back because she is soo sexy.

Everyone read this, and move onto discussing how great this will be. I bet we'd all enjoy the product more if we were just positive.

Can't wait for that match I love The Roc, but he needs to train extra hard because it is very noticeable that he's rusty.

I'd much rather see Stone Cold vs. Cena but this match still sounds cool. Might actually bring me back to watching wrestling for a while unless they muck it up

Do your research before you make these acquisitions, Dwayne chose those rolls because he has a young daughter and doesn't want to get typecast as only an action star. i think the word you're looking for here is accusation. and you're spot on with why the rock took those goober roles.

Well, Rock's killed any doubts I had about him... Props to him for actually having another proper run with wrestling, and even more props to him for when he eventually puts Cena over.

Didn't Rock say on his twitter that after WrestleMania that he's growing his hair out for a new movie role?
He'll be gone for quite some time

I used to say The Rock didn't loved the WWE. When he started doing those satellite promos, I said, yeah, that's all I need so I can see he at least cares a bit. Now, after 7 years, he returned to the ring, so another proof. I was satisfied with just satellite promos, but he actually steps into the ring, and now he is supposed to have a match. What else can you ask for?
Now, as for the match, many thought here that The Rock would come out this past Monday to say good bye, but instead they announced a match with John Cena, but will this really happen? I hope it does, and I can see Cena winning. Think about it, Cena rarely loses a feud, and this past WrestleMania, The Rock made Cena lose, so as far as I've seen WWE do, it is a big possibility to see John Cena win.
