Well, my question is, what's the best way to do them? I did a headswap on the Series 7 Cena elite, but I literally pulled the head off. I'd imagine there's a more effective way to do this.
Also, I just got a Series 10 Barret and the ankle joints are ridiculously loose. How can I fix this?
Sorry, of this is in the wrong place. I started collecting Mattels earlier this year but know almost nothing about fix-ups.
Thanks.

i usually just used a flat head screw driver to pry off their heads, but you tend to get some damage that way. for the loose ankles, this may not be what you want to do, but i put a small drop of super glue on loose joints. as soon as you put it in the joint you have to make sure to keep moving the joint so it does not get glued and ruined. do this until the glue dries and it should stiffen the joint.

Boil water. Put the head in the water and leave for 10-30 seconds. Pull the head from the chin backwards and it should pop right off. As for the ankles I am not sure but my friend told me sand tighten loose waists on jakks so you could try that?

Hot water is the best way to do it. Boil some up, pour it in a cup and drop the figure in the water for about 30-45 seconds, the head will come right off.
Be careful when you pull the heads off with no water/hot air-you can rip the peg out and then your figure is f'd for life. It'll be a headless monster in your collection and worthless to the world unless you glue on a head.

Thanks all. Boiling water won't have an effect on the paint?

Thanks all. Boiling water won't have an effect on the paint? Not at all. Boiling water is the only way to go, any other way is likely to leave you with a broken head peg.

Instead of super glue for the ankle joints, use model cement, in which the excess is able to be scraped off after it dries so you don't have gobs of it hanging out anywhere.

I do swaps all the time and I use the boiling water technique. Very easy to do.
As for Barrett... My boots were very loose as well. So I used hot water & an extra pair of boots that weren't loose & did a boot swap. Much better now.

Anyone else think Mattel is kinda blocking this? I've done a few and they end up loss in the up and down movement in the head, like the design them to not be interchangeable. At the least they aren't helping.

Hot water (from the sink works fine) or using a hair dryer. Neither damage the figure at all and are very easy to do. Just hold the figure under either of them for 40-60 seconds and then pop the head off. Never just pop it off without heating it and never use a screw driver, you risk severe damage to the figures.

I used an old Morrison's boots. They're the same boot underneath the furry piece. He stands much better now.

So does the peg come out with the head? Or just the head?

So does the peg come out with the head? Or just the head? the peg is designed to stay in the body. if you dont heat the head up before removing it the peg might come out with the head and the peg will be damaged

I actually broke the peg's ring because I didn't heat the head. But this gave me a chance to practice a torso crack and fix the peg. Now it's a Hogan custom.

Runing them under hot water worked perfectly, but the way. Thanks for the help! I'm in the process of moving but will try to post some pics.

The boiling water trick is your best bet. Just be patient - it's better than ruining a figure.
