I'm just wondering if anybody is as bothered as I am by the fact that the crotch piece on the Elite figures prevents the legs from moving backward.
Does anyone know if Mattel is aware of this, and has anybody heard of any news on them possibly creating a new crotch piece where the butt does not prevent backward leg movement?

I think it´s fine, and accurate. If they made it so that the leg moves a little higher from the butt, then that is perfectly accurate. The figures would just look too weird, though. IMO.

Idk but I was pissed when I bought my Elite Goldy and unboxed him and his joints were tight and immobile in most areas and I tried to loosen his left leg up a little and *SNAP*!... leg broke off straight at the ball joint that connects the leg to the gooch!
But I think it's just fine. It's not like every WWE superstar can do a Van Damme split.

I had to keep putting the elite Goldust (and CM Punk) in hot water to get the legs moving.

The more annoying thing is, as mentioned above, the stuck hips problem. I hadn't encountered it until recently with an elite Jericho I bought. Both legs completely immovable, one temporarily freed up after hot water. I thought it was a one off until my WM7 Randy Savage had the same on one of his legs. Luckily I fixed him with hot water but I'm hoping the joint doesn't fall off since I bent it alot when trying to free it up. Not much of a fan of the elite legs, wish they'd gone with Marvel universe, DCUC or simple v cut joints.

I think that's fine. Moving them far backwards isn't so "human" anyway.

I take a tiny screwdriver and work it around until I get the leg into a sitting position, which allows it to snap back down. I thought it'd be a permanent solution...until I tried moving Finlay and Savage's legs a few weeks ago and they wouldn't budge.

I am fine with the way they are. I am nothing but impressed with how accurate these figures are

I thought it'd be a permanent solution...until I tried moving Finlay and Savage's legs a few weeks ago and they wouldn't budge. I've had this problem with loads of elite figures. Stone Cold, Rick Rude, WM26 Swagger, Elite 6 Punk and Goldust, and several others. Worse is when there's a part completely stuck, and no amount of hot water will fix it. I had to return my elite 1 Edge because there was absolutely no movement on the waist. And I've got an elite 4 Finlay that's got one thigh that won't turn at all. I bought Natalya the other day and the hand just fell off about two minutes after I opened it. Quality control and fixing basic design flaws is the main problem Mattel has. Paint errors all over the place (my basic 10 Triple H has a white line on the edge of half of his damn beard), so many elites don't stand up properly and have overly stiff legs, and about half my Mattel figures came with such stiff shoulder joints that I can imagine a ton of kids buying them and snapping the arms off as soon as they start playing.

A major reason why I actually prefer the Basic to the Elites. The leg joints just seem weird to me and are more often then not stuck or hard to move.

IMO Mattel's figures are generally too small to pack in elite/deluxe style articulation effectively. they're not thick and solid enough. i said right from the start mattel should have kept the scale around RA size. i know RAs weren't scaled to each other, but i mean like mattel should have made their scale so an average size wrestler was around RA sized.

i've had problems with my elite Piper/Bob Orton set and my TRU Exclusive Elite Swagger, besides that, i have had no problems with the other 40-50 plus elites/legends i have so i like the way they are

I wish Mattel had used 360 ball joints instead of the square looking kind.

Yeah I kinda get what you mean. The torso they use for elite Punks, Jerichos etc. is hideous looking with that style of ab joint, far too skinny to have such an obvious joint there (looks slightly better on the warrior/Cena and Jomo/Randy savage torsos). I hate ab crunches anyway because 95% of the time they're ugly as sin, only the japanese toy makers seem to get that joint right lol. I think that's my main problem with the elites. Normally, ball jointed shoulders and head will suffice for me as long as it has a nice sculpt, but for wrestling figures I think they do sort of need above average articulation. Problem is, the joints they chose for the elite figures could be a lot nicer looking.
